Extended analysis
Prior Research (prepared by 2026-09-25; current call and filed-period check above)
Summary
Palantir sells software that turns an institution's scattered data into one working model of the institution — its assets, decisions and actions — then lets analysts, operators and AI agents work on that model under access controls that follow the data from source to decision. It began in 2003 building counterterrorism software for US intelligence and now earns just under half its revenue from companies: 46% commercial, 54% government in FY2025, with 74% of revenue from the United States (FY2025 10-K).
The customer problem is that large software projects fail. The 10-K's own example is a US military department that spent more than $1 billion on an enterprise-resource-planning system that was never delivered. Palantir sells speed and then expands inside the account: AIP bootcamps that "deliver real workflows on actual customer data in days," followed by more divisions and users. The top twenty customers averaged $93.9M of revenue in 2025, up from $64.6M in 2024.
The desk's reading is that generative AI turned the Ontology from a data-integration product into the layer an AI agent needs to act safely inside an enterprise. The filed numbers show the demand: five straight quarters of accelerating growth, operating margin up from 1.3% to 47.1% in six quarters. The decisive uncertainty is price. At roughly $455B of market value (as of 2026-09-25, on the Q2 10-Q's weighted basic share count), the stock leaves no room for the deceleration the company's own guide describes.
Why This Moment Is Different
The August 3 print turned a de-rating into a re-rating, and the 10-Q has since confirmed it. Q2 revenue of $1.935B was up 92.8% year over year and 18.6% sequentially, and every full-year guidance line went up: revenue to $8.150–8.158B (+82%), US commercial revenue to more than $3.424B (+134%), adjusted operating income to $4.889–4.897B and adjusted free cash flow to $4.5–4.7B (company release, as recorded in the desk's earnings record). The adjusted figures are non-GAAP guidance.
Backlog grew faster than revenue. Remaining performance obligations reached $4.9B at June 30, against $2.4B a year earlier, and contract liabilities rose to $1.1B from $686M (Q2 10-Q). Contracted-but-unrecognized revenue is building ahead of the income statement.
September added a stream of deals on both sides of the business, most of them reported only through X accounts. Government: an Army TITAN production contract with Palantir as prime (@amitisinvesting, September 1), a $48M ammunition-management contract (@amitisinvesting, September 18), a September 23 GlobeNewswire release on Navy shipbuilding software, and Karp meetings with the presidents of Poland and Lithuania (@amitisinvesting, September 23). Commercial: Nebius as preferred sovereign-compute partner (September 8, several captures), a renewed and expanded Fujitsu partnership (Yahoo Finance headline, September 10), Nvidia supply-chain work shown at AIPCon 11 (@amitisinvesting, September 11), and Chipotle (@amitisinvesting, September 16). None of these carries disclosed revenue; the Q3 report is where they show up or do not.
How the Business Makes Money
| Piece | What it is (FY2025 10-K unless noted) |
|---|---|
| Segments | Government (54% of FY2025 revenue of $4.5B) and commercial (46%); 74% of revenue from US customers |
| Q2 2026 mix | US commercial $764M (+149%), US government $809M (+90%), total US $1.573B (+115%) per the company's release; about $362M from outside the US (total revenue less the US total) |
| Platforms | Foundry (data operations; every commercial customer uses it), AIP (LLM connectivity, an agent-building toolchain, evaluations for AI in production), Gotham (defense and intelligence operations), Apollo (continuous delivery into cloud, on-premises and classified or disconnected environments) |
| Customers | 954 at December 31, 2025; top twenty averaged $93.9M of 2025 revenue (from $64.6M) |
| Concentration | Top three customers were 16% of 2025 revenue (17% in 2024) and have been customers for an average of ten years |
| Go-to-market | AIP bootcamps, a Developer Tier with limited free access, engineers embedded with customers, industry operating systems built with partners, cloud-provider and channel alliances, joint ventures (Fujitsu through Palantir Japan KK) |
| Capital intensity | $33.9M of capital spending in FY2025 (10-K) |
US commercial is now nearly the size of US government and growing faster. In FY2025 government was the majority; in Q2 2026 US commercial revenue ($764M) sat just below US government ($809M) while growing 149% against 90%. The US mix is tilting toward commercial, the side of the business the bootcamp and Developer Tier motions are built to sell.
The sales model targets hard problems on purpose. The 10-K says the company seeks out "large-scale, hard-to-execute opportunities" where installation costs, failure risk and long sales cycles keep smaller competitors out. It sells a small number of very large accounts: 954 customers produced $4.5B of revenue in 2025.
What the Company Says It Is Becoming
The FY2025 10-K names its growth vectors in its own words. The company intends "to capture an even greater share of U.S. federal government spending on software systems." It is building "industry operating systems" through partnerships in airline, space, shipbuilding, insurance, healthcare, telecommunications, automotive, security and government. Cloud partnerships "emerged as an extension of the large computing requirements for our platforms." Many research and development efforts are "focused on deploying software, models, and other critical assets at the edge," including disconnected environments.
The filed risks that matter for this setup:
- Growth durability. The first listed business risk is that revenue growth may not be sustained "at current rates."
- Government exposure. Government contracts can be "terminated by the customer at any time for convenience," and a decline in "U.S. and other government budgets" or delays in awards is a named risk.
- Concentration. The top three customers are 16% of revenue; a single renewal still moves a quarter.
- Third-party compute. "We depend on computing infrastructure of third parties." AWS and Microsoft Azure have no obligation to renew on commercially reasonable terms; missing minimum-usage commitments carries penalties; and "the provisioning of additional cloud hosting capacity or upgrading technology, infrastructure, and software applications each require lead time and resources."
- AI liability. Use of "generative or agentic AI models" may cause reputational harm or liability.
- Control. A multi-class structure concentrates voting power with founders Stephen Cohen, Alexander Karp and Peter Thiel.
- Scrutiny. The company files "news or social media coverage or other external scrutiny of Palantir or our leadership" as a business risk.
Where Palantir Sits in the Agent and Compute Story (as of 2026-09-25)
| Link in the story | What the receipts show | Read |
|---|---|---|
| Meta's Muse (consumer agent) | Launched September 8; operates a browser, fills forms, asks approval before a purchase (web reporting); runs each user in a dedicated cloud environment with a reviewing agent, per @amitisinvesting's September 9 recap | No Palantir–Meta or Palantir–Muse relationship found in filings, news or captures |
| Amazon blocking Muse | Amazon cut Muse off from shopping by about September 20: Meta did not tell Amazon, the agent does not identify itself, it appears to store credentials (Bloomberg, GeekWire, Forbes) | Does not touch Palantir. Amazon's link to Palantir is AWS as a named hosting provider in the 10-K |
| Enterprise agents (AIP) | AIP turns an organization's "actions and processes into tools for humans and LLM-driven agents," with security and audit controls and "integrated human review checkpoints" (10-K) | The same capability as Muse, pointed at data the customer owns and governs |
| The trust argument | Karp on CNBC, September 17: labs discount tokens "so that they can get access to your IP"; "Our partners are livid" (clip quoted by @jawwwn_) | Karp is selling sovereignty — customers keep their data, models and compute — as the enterprise answer |
| Compute and power | H1 2026 capital spending $22.0M; hosting on AWS and Azure with minimum-usage commitments (10-K); Nebius named preferred sovereign-compute partner September 8, including modular data centers "at locations where power is already available" | Tenant, not builder: a power or capacity squeeze reaches Palantir through rented-capacity cost and availability |
| Nvidia | AIPCon 11: Palantir building an ontology for Nvidia's chip supply chain (@amitisinvesting, September 11; a YouTube explainer makes the same claim) | Attributed; no disclosed terms |
| Bloom Energy, Cloudflare | Nothing in filings, news or captures | No direct relationship found |
The consumer and enterprise agent markets are fighting different gatekeepers. Muse's obstacle is a third party: Amazon controls the storefront Muse wants to act on, and it refused. AIP's agents act inside a customer's own systems, where the customer is the gatekeeper and is also the buyer. That difference is structural, and it is why Amazon's block is a read-through for Meta and Amazon rather than for Palantir. It is the desk's inference from the 10-K's description of AIP and the reporting on Muse, not a claim any source makes about Palantir.
Karp is positioning Palantir on the enterprise side of the same question Muse raised. His CNBC argument — cheap tokens are a way for labs to learn from customers' data — pairs with the Nebius deal, in which, as announced, eligible commercial customers run open models on Nebius compute integrated inside Palantir's enterprise perimeter. Semafor summarized the same interview as Karp saying leading AI firms "may need to be nationalized." Whether sovereignty sells is a Q3 and Q4 question; the reporting so far is partnership announcements, not revenue.
What the Street and the Public Conversation Say (as of 2026-09-25)
Karp's CNBC interview, September 17. CNBC's headline was Karp calling for "reasonable guidelines" on AI regulation. The clip that travelled on X (quoted by @jawwwn_) was his claim that frontier labs discount tokens to gain access to enterprise intellectual property. Jim Cramer called it a "great interview" the same morning and repeated his $250 target, which is an opinion, not an estimate model.
The Chipotle report, September 16. @amitisinvesting reported that Chipotle is working with Palantir on a platform tracking "food safety, pest incidents, employee illnesses, and more across the business," and his September 17 recap repeated it. No company release is in the desk's corpus, so terms and size are unknown. The context is on record: on August 4 CNBC reported Chipotle shares falling on a potential link to a salmonella outbreak in Minnesota. A restaurant chain is a consumer-facing operational use case, the kind of expansion beyond defense and heavy industry that the commercial growth rate depends on. Bloomberg reported in November 2024 that Wendy's used Palantir's AI to run a $1 Frosty promotion (surfaced in the September 25 social sweep), so the restaurant vertical is not new.
"A great stock can still be a bad investment at the wrong price." @MMatters22596 made that argument on September 18 with Palantir at $176, citing roughly 150 times earnings and 93 times forward earnings and warning that "any growth disappointment could trigger severe multiple compression." At $189.67 the desk's own trailing figure is 163.5 times. Forward multiples in the September record vary by source and estimate set: 82 times (Motley Fool, September 23) and 87 times (Motley Fool, September 22). The same account sold at $183 in early September, called the name "entering the dangerzone" on September 11, and lists $98 as a Fibonacci support; that last level would require a collapse of the whole post-print move.
The bear case has a famous name on it. Yahoo Finance ran "Michael Burry sends a strong warning to Palantir stock investors" on September 6; a September 4 Foreign Policy Journal headline carried his description of Palantir as "a consulting firm in disguise." @amitisinvesting's market recap, posted the evening of September 22, reported Burry adding to shorts in Palantir, Nebius, Micron and a semiconductor ETF. A September 20 Yahoo Finance headline argued for two defense stocks instead. The bear argument is valuation plus services-like delivery; it does not dispute the reported growth.
The bull case is sell-side and retail momentum. UBS listed Palantir among 14 top tech picks (MarketWatch, September 18). Rosenblatt set a $225 target and DA Davidson raised to $250 after AIPCon 11, per @amitisinvesting; targets are estimates. A September 22 Zacks note, per the news feed's summary, counted upward earnings-estimate revisions over 60 days. On positioning, Schwab's August retail data had Palantir among the top retail sells as money rotated from software to chips (@amitisinvesting, September 9).
Source quality. The hosted social sweep on September 25 returned nine items: eight Hacker News links, led by a law-firm class-action alert that recurs on this name, and one YouTube explainer. It contained no X discussion and nothing new. The substantive takes above came from followed X accounts. @amitisinvesting, the source for most contract news, is openly bullish and publishes his own positions.

C = conversion of a derivative security, S = sale, G = gift. "Officer" rows list the role in the filing's remarks. Values as reported in the filing rows; filings linked in Sources.
Every row is a sale or a gift; there are no purchases. The valued sales from August 5 to September 15 total about $92.9M, most of it Karp's August 20 sale.
Read: Karp's sale averaged about $174.79 a share, below today's price. Director Alexander Moore sold identical 16,000-share blocks a month apart, a pattern consistent with a scheduled plan; the filings' plan footnotes were not read. The desk's insider panel shows about $2.0B of net insider selling over a lookback window the receipt does not state, among the heaviest in the September 25 insider scan alongside Amazon, Nvidia and Eli Lilly. With $466.8M of stock compensation in the first half, insider sales are a standing supply; the relevant fact is that none of these insiders bought.
The Conviction Chain
| Link | Evidence (dated) | What confirms it | What breaks it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Demand is accelerating, not peaking | Revenue growth rose five straight quarters to +92.8% (Q2 10-Q, filed 2026-08-04) | Q3 growth at or above the guide's implied ~+77% second-half pace, with another guide raise | Q3 growth below that pace, or a held or lowered full-year guide |
| 2. AIP made commercial the engine | US commercial +149% in Q2 (release); commercial 46% of FY2025 revenue (10-K); remaining performance obligations $4.9B, doubled in a year | US commercial stays above +100% | US commercial under +100% in Q3 |
| 3. Government is deepening, not stalling | US government +90% in Q2 (release); TITAN production prime and a $48M ammunition contract in September (attributed) | Government growth holds while awards convert to revenue | Budget delays or terminations for convenience (filed risks) |
| 4. The margins are real cash | Q2 operating margin 47.1% GAAP; first-half operating cash flow $2.12B against $22M capex; working capital not prepayment-driven (SEC filings) | Operating cash flow keeps tracking net income | Operating cash flow falling below net income for two quarters, or stock compensation rising faster than revenue |
| 5. The price is justified by the trajectory | ~73.9x trailing revenue, ~163.5x trailing GAAP EPS (as of 2026-09-25 at $189.67) | Beats above the company's own plan keep compressing the forward multiple | Any quarter that merely meets the guide |
The weakest link is 5, and link 1 is what holds it up. The business evidence is strong on every filed line. The stock is priced for the company to beat a plan that already assumes a slowdown to about +77%. Conviction is medium because a single in-line quarter would test a multiple with no cushion.

Growth is accelerating at a larger base. Year-over-year growth went +39.3% → +48.0% → +62.8% → +70.0% → +84.7% → +92.8%, while quarterly revenue more than doubled. Operating margin rose from 1.3% in Q4 2024 to 47.1% in Q2 2026.
Gross margin slipped in Q2. It fell to 84.7% from 86.8% in Q1 as cost of revenue rose to $296.9M from $215.8M (Massive financials). The filing's explanation was not read; the cause is unknown here, and it is the one line in the table that moved the wrong way.
Cash quality. Trailing-twelve-month operating cash flow through Q2 2026 is $3.40B on $6.16B of revenue. First-half 2026 operating cash flow of $2,115.3M included a $256.5M increase in contract liabilities (customer prepayments and deferred revenue) and a $433.8M increase in receivables, so the net working-capital effect was a drag, not a boost. FY2025 free cash flow was $2.10B: operating cash flow of $2.13B less $33.9M of capital spending, reconciled against the 10-K. The FY2026 adjusted free-cash-flow guide of $4.5–4.7B is a non-GAAP figure.
The costs GAAP already carries. Stock-based compensation was $466.8M in the first half of 2026, 13.1% of revenue; the GAAP margins above are after it. Weighted diluted shares (2,568.7M) exceed weighted basic shares (2,399.8M) by 7.0% in Q2, and basic shares rose 1.5% year over year. Buybacks were $1.5M in the first half, immaterial.
Balance sheet (June 30, 2026, Q2 10-Q). Cash of $2.03B plus short-term investments of $7.38B, $9.41B combined, against total liabilities of $1.79B and equity of $9.88B.
Positioning. Short interest was 77.9M shares, 1.83 days to cover, at the July 15 settlement (Massive short-interest data). No later settlement is on file, so current positioning is unmeasured.

| Market value / 2026 adjusted FCF guide midpoint | ~98.9x | $4.5–4.7B adjusted free-cash-flow guide, non-GAAP |
All ratios script-computed at the 2026-09-25 close on filed figures. The September 23 view's ~74.6x revenue and ~165.3x earnings used the $191.79 close and the Q1 share count.
What the multiple requires. At about 56 times this year's guided revenue, the stock prices several more years of very high growth at today's margins. The guide's implied second-half growth of about 77% already sits below the first half's 89%. The last print cleared the company's own revenue-guidance midpoint by a wide margin ($1.935B against $1.799B, per the desk's earnings record); the multiple assumes that pattern continues.

Long horizon first. The price is 24.8% above its 200-day average, the two-year return is +410.96%, the golden cross has held since September 11, and the desk's September 25 summaries rate the long thesis intact. The one-year return of +5.89% is the weak spot: it trails SPY by 11.33 points. On September 25 the Momentum Board placed Palantir in its tier of multi-year outperformers in pullback, and the September 25 AI infrastructure scan rated it 🟡 watch, noting the thinnest trailing year among the intact names in its basket.
Short horizon. RSI cooled from 66.9 on September 23 to 63.7. The base has run 6.6 weeks. Friday's volume was 0.64 times average.
Catalysts
| Date | Event | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Any session | A daily close above $194.68 | The breakout entry |
| Scheduled 2026-11-02 (session not stated) | Q3 2026 report | Revenue growth against the guide's implied ~+77% second-half pace; US commercial above +100%; another full-year raise; gross margin back above 85% |
| Ongoing | September deals converting to disclosed revenue | TITAN, the ammunition contract, Navy shipbuilding software, Chipotle, Nebius, Fujitsu |
| Ongoing | Treasury yields | MarketWatch (September 2) said bond yields may be to blame for the September slump; a long-duration multiple is rate-sensitive |
Risks and Kill Tests
- Multiple compression without a miss. At ~161.6x trailing earnings (as of 2026-09-28 at $187.48, price-only repricing of the September 25 share and earnings basis), an in-line quarter can take the stock down. Kill test: a Q3 that meets but does not beat the guide.
- Commercial deceleration. US commercial is the engine. Kill test: under +100% at the Q3 report.
- Government timing. Contracts can be terminated for convenience and awards delayed (10-K). Watch for a government growth rate that falls sharply while the September awards remain undisclosed in revenue.
- Insider supply. Steady selling from the CEO, officers and directors with no buying; a large new sale into a breakout would be a supply signal.
- Crowding and high-profile shorts. Burry's reported short and the valuation argument give the bear case a focal point if growth slows.
- Third-party compute. A capacity squeeze at AWS, Azure or partners raises cost or delays deployments (10-K).
- Price-level test. A daily close below $165.86 voids the setup; below the 200-day, the long trend is under test.
Print-Night Record (2026-08-03 — history)
The pre-print profile set its bar from consensus that sat only 0.72% above management's own revenue-guidance midpoint, and deliberately declined to call direction.
| The pre-print table said | What printed | Grade |
|---|---|---|
| Commercial ≥ ~$892M (+98%) and a raised outlook → the de-rate was rotation overshoot, not deterioration | U.S. commercial +149%, guidance raised on every line | This row fired. |
| Revenue in line but commercial short of +98% → bear case wins on deceleration | Did not happen — revenue beat consensus by ~$123M | — |
| A beat with no guidance raise → the most likely disappointment shape | Did not happen | — |
| Revenue miss → the 52-week low ($106.37) is the level | Did not happen | — |
A correction the file still carries. From May until print day this profile's bear case led with free cash flow turning negative (−$181M). That was false: a mis-derived figure that treated Treasury portfolio purchases as capital spending (defect D037). Filed FY2025 free cash flow was +$2.10B and Q1 2026 +$892M. Consensus EPS of $0.35 was an adjusted figure; the $0.41 reported is GAAP diluted. Different measures; the beat held on both.

| 2026-08-04 | Added the missing qualitative layers (user call: dives must carry the filing narrative, news, and social voice, not just tape): 10-K Item 1/1A section — platforms/Ontology architecture, bootcamp go-to-market, 954 customers, stated growth vectors, top-3 concentration 16%, the filed social-coverage risk factor — plus the print-night street/social read (Rule-of-40-155 framing, exuberant retail, ambulance-chaser noise). Fresh 8-K (Q2, filed 2026-08-03) pulled to the filing cache |
| 2026-08-04 (later) | Added the earnings record: eight filed quarters from the Massive series (Q2'24 → Q1'26) + the Q2'26 press-release row — five straight quarters of accelerating YoY growth, op income 1.3% → 46.2% of revenue in six quarters, GM 78.9% → 86.8%, OCF $310M → $899M YoY — plus short-interest positioning into the print (77.9M sh, 3.25% of basic, DTC 1.83). Massive statements refreshed same day |
| 2026-08-04 (settled reaction) | The tape agreed. Settled close $162.66, +29.45% day-over-day on 172.0M shares (vs 77M into the print), gapped open $145.15 and ran to close near the session high ($164.51); regime stamp flipped to up. Far beyond both the after-hours ~+12% and the 9–15% implied band. First settled close of the confirmation sequence (needs settled closes above SMA20/50 plus a higher low); at this level the SMA condition is trivially met — the higher low is the open leg. | 2026-08-08 | Confirmation sequence complete: settled close $172.01 (2026-08-07), +5.72% since the 08-04 print reaction, +39.78% 7D, RSI 73.0 — the hottest reading in this file's history. Price is now above SMA20 (+27.4%), SMA50 (+29.7%), and SMA200 (+13.0%); only the 52-week high ($207.52, -23.66% away) remains overhead. No fresh company-specific catalyst in the 2026-08-08 news pull beyond continued post-print coverage. Massive income-statements cache still shows Q1 2026 as the newest filed period — the 10-Q covering Q2 has not yet filed/folded; reported figures above remain press-release basis. No new fundamentals re-researched this cycle. |
| 2026-08-14 | Tape refresh only: settled close $174.04, +1.18% since 08-08, RSI 68.3 (cooled from 73.0, off the file's hottest read). 30D roughly flat at +30.11%; 3M accelerated to +29.89%; -13.74% from the 52-week high (narrowed from -23.66%). Still above SMA20/SMA50/SMA200; SMA50 remains below SMA200 so the engine still tags a death cross. No fresh company-specific catalyst on record for this window. Massive income-statements cache still shows Q1 2026 as the newest filed period — the 10-Q has not yet filed/folded; reported Q2 figures remain press-release basis. No new fundamentals re-researched. |
| 2026-08-22 | Tape refresh only: settled close $179.94, +3.39% since 08-14, RSI 69.4 (warmed back toward the 73 peak). 7D +3.40% (accelerated), 30D +44.45% (accelerated), 3M +31.46% (accelerated); -13.29% from the 52-week high. Still above SMA20/SMA50/SMA200; SMA50 remains below SMA200 so the engine still tags a death cross. 1Y +15.21%, vs SMA200 +18.8% (alpha1y -6.6% — catching up to the tape, not leading it). Valuation recomputed at the current price on the unchanged Q2 press-release basis: ~70.0x TTM sales, ~155.1x trailing GAAP (was 48.9x/108.3x at the 08-03 post-print base). Massive income-statements cache still shows Q1 2026 as the newest filed period — the 10-Q has not yet filed/folded; reported Q2 figures remain press-release basis. | 2026-08-28 | Tape refresh only: settled close $186.29, +3.53% since 08-22, RSI 69.3 (essentially flat, still short of the 73 peak). 7D +3.52% (roughly flat), 30D +51.46% (accelerated), 3M +19.00% (moderated); -10.23% from the 52-week high (narrowed). Still above SMA20/SMA50/SMA200; SMA50 remains below SMA200 so the engine still tags a death cross. 1Y +17.82%, vs SMA200 +23.1%. Valuation recomputed at the current price on the unchanged Q2 press-release basis: ~72.5x TTM sales, ~160.6x trailing GAAP. Massive income-statements cache still shows Q1 2026 as the newest filed period — the Q2 10-Q has not yet filed/folded; reported Q2 figures remain press-release basis. News cache last pulled 2026-08-08 — no company-specific cause claimed for this week's move. No new fundamentals re-researched. |
| 2026-09-04 | Tape refresh only: settled close $174.33, -6.42% since 08-28 — the first weekly decline since the print. RSI cooled sharply to 54.2 (from 69.3); price slipped below SMA20 for the first time since the print (-1.5%, from +8.9% above) though remains above SMA50 (+16.3%) and SMA200 (+15.2%). 30D moderated sharply to +10.04% (from +51.46% as the post-print run rolls out of the window); 3M accelerated to +28.63%; -15.99% from the 52-week high (widened from -10.23%). SMA50 remains below SMA200 so the engine still tags a death cross. 1Y +11.65%, vs SMA200 +15.2% — still a deep pullback in an intact trend, cushion thinning. Valuation recomputed at the current price on the unchanged Q2 press-release basis: ~67.8x TTM sales, ~150.3x trailing GAAP (both compressed on the lower price). Massive income-statements cache still shows Q1 2026 as the newest filed period, a full month after the Q2 print — the 10-Q has not yet filed/folded; reported Q2 figures remain press-release basis. News cache last pulled 2026-08-08 (four weeks stale) — no PLTR-specific cause claimed for this week's decline; broadly consistent with a software/high-multiple-AI pullback across the tape this week, not confirmed as this name's own catalyst. No new fundamentals re-researched. |
| 2026-09-11 | Tape refresh only: settled close $167.23, -4.07% since 09-04 — a second straight weekly decline. RSI cooled further to 49.2 (from 54.2); price widened below SMA20 (-4.7%, from -1.5%) while narrowing above SMA50 (+8.6%, from +16.3%) and SMA200 (+10.4%, from +15.2%). The death cross that persisted through every post-print refresh has unwound this cycle — SMA50 ($153.93) now sits above SMA200 ($151.52), golden cross confirmed. 30D turned negative to -2.23% (from +10.04%); 3M roughly flat at +30.66%; -19.41% from the 52-week high (widened from -15.99%). 1Y decelerated sharply to +1.75% (from +11.65%), alpha1y -14.47 — the long-window cushion is thinning even as the moving-average structure turns constructive. Valuation recomputed at the current price on the unchanged Q2 press-release basis: ~65.0x TTM sales, ~144.2x trailing GAAP (both compressed further on the lower price). Massive/EDGAR caches still show Q1 2026 as the newest filed period, 39 days after the Q2 print — the 10-Q has not yet filed/folded; reported Q2 figures remain press-release basis. News cache last pulled 2026-08-08 (five weeks stale) — no PLTR-specific cause claimed for this week's decline. No new fundamentals re-researched. |
| 2026-09-18 | Tape refresh only: settled close $177.64, +6.22% since 09-11 — the best week since the August print, ending two weeks of cooling. RSI warmed to 57.0 (from 49.2); the 20-day was reclaimed (+1.0%, from -4.7% below) and price widened above SMA50 (+12.2%) and SMA200 (+17.1%); the golden cross confirmed last cycle holds. 30D turned positive to +1.40%; 3M accelerated to +38.27%; -14.40% from the 52-week high (narrowed from -19.41%). 1Y +0.38% with alpha1y -14.64 — the structure is intact while the twelve-month record is flat, and the desk's extension board places the name in its secular multi-year outperformer tier rather than among its leaders. Valuation recomputed at the current price on the unchanged Q2 press-release basis: ~69.0x TTM sales, ~153.2x trailing GAAP (both expanded on the higher price). Massive/EDGAR caches still show Q1 2026 (period ended 2026-03-31, filed 2026-05-05) as the newest filed period, 46 days after the Q2 print — the 10-Q has still not filed or folded; reported Q2 figures remain press-release basis. Stock-events checked: no PLTR row dated 2026-09-12 to 2026-09-18. News not pulled for this move — receipt last written 2026-08-08. | 2026-09-23 | Tape refresh: settled close $191.79, +10.01% on the week and +3.68% on 09-23 — the highest close of the year (MarketWatch, 2026-09-23), above the August 28 high close ($186.29). RSI 66.9; +8.1%/+18.6%/+26.2% vs the 20-/50-/200-day; 30D +9.04%; 3M +68.98%; -7.58% from the 52-week high. 1Y +5.06% with a one-year excess return of -10.71 points — the structure is intact while the year still trails. Top rewritten with a flag-entry call above the old high; the print-night sections (scoreboard, verdict, bull/bear, catalysts, social read) were date-stamped as history; a live row was added to the Price Data table. Valuation recomputed (~74.6x TTM sales, ~165.3x trailing GAAP). Stock-events checked: no PLTR row dated 2026-09-19 to 2026-09-23. News pulled 2026-09-19 — not pulled for the September 21–23 sessions. The Q2 2026 10-Q is still not in the filing caches (newest filed quarter ends 2026-03-31, filed 2026-05-05), 51 days after the print. |
| 2026-09-25 | Deep-dive rewrite. The retired top (as of the 2026-09-23 close): PLTR $191.79, RSI 66.9, +8.1% vs SMA20, 30D +9.04%; call 🟡 wait, entry $186–$192 on a pullback holding the August 28 close, stop $170, first target $207. What changed by the 2026-09-25 close: the September 23 "breakout" sat below the $194.68 base pivot, so the trigger moved to a close above the pivot with a $183 stop under the $184.34 shelf; the Q2 10-Q turned out to have been filed on 2026-08-04 (the "not filed" notes from August 8 through September 23 were wrong), so the series, margins and valuation now run on filed Q2 figures (~73.9x trailing revenue, ~163.5x trailing GAAP EPS on 2,399.8M weighted basic shares). Added the September deal flow, Karp's CNBC interview, the Chipotle report, the valuation bear case and Burry, Form 4 insider sales, and the Muse/compute read-through. News pulled 2026-09-25 (newest item 2026-09-21); no PLTR event row from 2026-09-19 to 2026-09-25.
