Akamai is turning, not cratering, but its largest contract did not carry the stock. The shares fell 31% from their spring high and slipped under the 200-day average. They took it back in the September 21–23 rally, before any deal was public. Anthropic's commitment of about $11.6 billion over seven years was disclosed after the September 24 close. By one trader's count it put the stock up 25% before Friday's open, and it closed up 3.2%. Akamai's own 8-K explains the fade: the case now rests on one customer, a server build Akamai pays for first, and a warrant that grows as Anthropic spends more. The call is watch, low conviction: wait for a flag that holds $108.28, then a close above $126.02.
Data as of 2026-09-25 close: AKAM $113.94, RSI 53.4, +4.8% vs SMA20, +2.5% vs SMA200, 7D +9.01%, 30D +5.44%, 1Y +51.15%, −31.13% from the 52-week high, volume 8.91× average.
Deal terms come from Akamai's September 24 8-K. The ~$5.5 billion capital-spending estimate, the ~$20 billion "potential" and the analyst targets come from X posts (@aleabitoreddit, @wallstengine, @Sam_Badawi). They are attributed, not verified: Akamai's press release and call are not on file.
Quick Snapshot (as of 2026-09-25)
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| The call | 🟡 Wait for the flag, then buy a close above $126.02. Entry $126.02–$130.00 · stop $108.28 · first target $150 · low conviction. |
| What it is | One of the internet's largest distributed networks: more than 4,300 edge points of presence in over 130 countries (10-K). It sells security (the largest revenue line), content delivery (shrinking) and cloud computing, which now includes dedicated AI capacity. |
| Why now | On September 18 Anthropic signed Project Plans 2 and 3 under a May 5 master agreement for dedicated cloud capacity: about $11.6 billion committed on seven-year terms, plus a warrant. Akamai then signed Lenovo for hardware (September 23) and authorized Jabil to buy about $1.7 billion of memory (September 24). |
| Proof | Contracted revenue not yet recognized rose from $5.5 billion to $7.6 billion in the June quarter, the quarter the first Anthropic plan was signed (SEC 10-Q). That was before Plans 2 and 3. |
| Objection | Revenue grew 5.9% over the twelve months to June 30. GAAP operating income fell to $80.3 million in the June quarter from $151.5 million. Free cash flow after capitalized software was $221 million in the first half. Akamai pays for the build before Anthropic's payments arrive, and each plan can end on a material outage. |
| Stock setup | Up 51.2% on the year and 31% off its high. The price sits just above the $108.28 support shelf and the 20-, 200- and 50-day averages, which run from $108.76 to $113.27. The top of the past year's most-traded range is $126.02. |
Action Matrix (as of 2026-09-25)
| Signal | If | Then |
|---|---|---|
| 🟢 Buy | After a flag that holds $108.28, a daily close above $126.02 (top of the one-year value area) on above-average volume | Entry $126.02–$130.00; do not chase more than about 3% past the trigger. |
| 🟡 Wait | Price between $108.28 and $126.02 | This is the flag. The deal-day gap faded; let the averages rise under the price. |
| 🔴 Out | A daily close below $108.28 | The turn failed and the stock is back under its 200-day. Stand aside until a new base forms. |
| 🟠 Target | $150 | Trim or trail. The stock was $149.54 on May 29, after the first Anthropic plan and before the June slide. |
| 🔴 Thesis breaks | The third-quarter 10-Q (report expected early November) shows no step-up in contracted revenue for Plans 2 and 3, or Anthropic gives notice under the outage clause | The commitment is softer than the headline, and what remains is a slow grower with a hardware bill. |
The Story Right Now (as of 2026-09-25)
Akamai is turning, not cratering: up 51.2% on the year, 31% below its spring high, and back above its 200-day average since the September 21–23 rally.
The path explains the skepticism. The stock moved 21.1% across its May 7 report. That was the quarter Benzinga reported a first Anthropic contract of $1.8 billion over seven years, and on May 29 the stock was $149.54, 58% above its 200-day average. On May 20 Akamai priced $3.0 billion of zero-coupon convertible notes, plus a $500 million option, to fund cloud-infrastructure capital spending and a $350 million buyback (company release). By June 25 it was $112.71 with an RSI of 30; no source on file explains the June slide. The August 6 report moved it −9.6%. The turn came before the deal. On September 21 edge-cloud names rose together with no cause on file, Akamai +12.33%, and by September 23 it was back over the 200-day. It then fell 6.78% in the September 24 regular session. The 8-K landed after the close.
The contract is large and conditional in specific ways. SEC filing: “Anthropic has committed to pay the Company approximately $11.6 billion in the aggregate under the Project Plans” The commitment is "subject to … satisfaction of certain delivery and service availability requirements." Each plan runs seven years from its own service start. Anthropic may end each plan on notice of a material outage, subject to conditions, and may also walk if Akamai is sold to a direct Anthropic competitor. In return Anthropic received a warrant. It covers non-voting preferred equal to up to 7,741,020 common shares, at about $111.33 each, just under Friday's close. Forty percent vests with Anthropic's first payment under Plan 3, and 20% with each further $3.0 billion it commits. The "up to $20 billion" on X reads like that vesting ladder of three more $3.0 billion steps, not a signed amount.
Akamai pays for the build first. On September 23 it signed Lenovo for hardware under a seven-year statement of work. On September 24 it told Jabil, its server contract manufacturer since 2019, to buy memory. SEC filing: “the Company has authorized Jabil to purchase approximately $1.7 billion of memory components” Akamai pays each supplier invoice when Jabil receives the parts. Jabil holds them on consignment and buys them back at cost as it builds servers, and Akamai bears disposal and carrying costs on anything unused. That memory order alone is bigger than Akamai's entire 2025 operating cash flow of $1.52 billion. X accounts relaying the company's figures put total capital spending for the contract near $5.5 billion (attributed).
The base business does not cover that bill on its own. GAAP operating income fell to $80.3 million in the June quarter from $151.5 million. Year over year, cost of revenue and operating expenses each grew by more dollars than revenue did, and restructuring charges were small. Free cash flow after capitalized software was $221 million in the first half, down from $291 million a year earlier. Cash and short-term investments were $3.36 billion on June 30, after the May convertible raise. The 8-K's own risk list includes "potential cash flow constraints and the ability to raise capital." Funding also got dearer this week: five-year Treasury yields crossed 5% (Bloomberg, September 23), and new AI debt was repricing higher (Goldman's Lindsay Rosner, Bloomberg, September 24).
The call: watch, low conviction, on the same levels as the September 25 special report. The price sits just above a cluster of support: the $108.28 shelf, the 20-day ($108.76), the 200-day ($111.13) and the 50-day ($113.27). Above it is $126.02, the top of the past year's most-traded range. The entry is a flag that holds the shelf, then a close above $126.02; a close under $108.28 ends the setup. The stop is 14% under the trigger. That is why conviction is low and the entry waits for the flag.
Three things would move this to medium, all in the third-quarter 10-Q (expected early November; providers list November 5 and November 10):
- contracted revenue steps up for Plans 2 and 3
- a funding plan that does not rest on new equity
- compute bookings from customers other than Anthropic
An outage notice, no step-up, or an equity raise would kill it.
Extended analysis
Summary
Akamai built the first large content-delivery network. Most of its revenue now comes from security products running on that network: web-application firewalls, bot management, DDoS protection, API security and Guardicore microsegmentation (10-K). Delivery revenue is still declining. The growth bet is cloud computing: rented compute and storage, plus, since 2025, AI inference capacity placed close to users.
The Anthropic plans change what the compute unit is. Akamai will provide "dedicated cloud computing capacity and related managed support services" (8-K) to one AI lab for seven years. It runs on hardware Akamai buys from Lenovo and has Jabil build. That is the neocloud model: long contracts, heavy up-front capital, a few anchor tenants. Here it sits on top of a mid-single-digit grower that earned a 13.5% GAAP operating margin in 2025 (SEC, reconciled).
The decisive uncertainty is the economics of the build: what it costs, how Akamai funds it, and what margin Anthropic's payments leave after depreciation. No document on file answers that. The third-quarter 10-Q is the first filing that has to.
Why This Moment Is Different
- The relationship crossed Akamai's materiality line. The 8-K says the Anthropic master agreement "is no longer immaterial in amount or significance to the Company." The May plan had not required a filing. The same words cover the Jabil agreement.
- The compute business changes shape. Multi-tenant cloud rents shared capacity by usage. Dedicated capacity is contracted, capital-heavy and concentrated. Akamai's 10-K already expected its cloud to "increasingly compete with the large so-called 'hyper-scaler' cloud computing providers."
- The timing cuts against the AI-slowdown talk. On September 14 CNBC reported Broadcom's CEO addressing "Anthropic's slowdown push." Four days later Anthropic signed $11.6 billion more of capacity. @aleabitoreddit's reading: "So much for Anthropic/OpenAI calling for an AI slowdown?" (attributed).
- The counterparty had its own week. A federal appeals court upheld, 2–1, the Pentagon's designation of Anthropic as a supply-chain risk (CNBC, September 25). Bloomberg reported derailed IPOs rattling the market "ahead of Anthropic's debut" (September 22).
The September 24 8-K, Item by Item
Anthropic: Project Plans 2 and 3
SEC filing: “Each Project Plan has an initial seven-year term commencing on their respective service start dates”
- Service: dedicated cloud computing capacity and related managed support, under the master agreement dated May 5, 2026.
- Conditions: the commitment is subject to termination rights and to "certain delivery and service availability requirements."
- Termination:
- Akamai may terminate on Anthropic's uncured breach.
- Anthropic may terminate on Akamai's material uncured breach, or on a change of control of Akamai "in favor of a direct competitor of Anthropic."
- Either side may terminate on bankruptcy, or when no project plan remains in effect.
- Anthropic may terminate each plan "upon notice of a material outage, subject to certain conditions."
- Plans stand separately: a breach-driven termination of one plan leaves the others in force as separate agreements.
- Filing: the full agreement is due as an exhibit to the 10-Q for the quarter ending September 30, 2026.
The warrant
SEC filing: “such that the Warrant Shares represent up to 7,741,020 shares of Common Stock on an as-converted basis”
- What it buys: up to 387,051 shares of Series B non-voting convertible preferred. Each is convertible into 20 common shares.
- Price: $2,226.60 per preferred share, defined as 20 times the 30-trading-day VWAP before September 18. That is about $111.33 per common share, against Friday's $113.94 close.
- Vesting: four tranches, all conditional on the master agreement remaining in effect. Forty percent vests on Anthropic's first payment under Plan 3. Each of three 20% tranches vests with a further $3.0 billion of contract value committed.
- Exercise: cash only, for seven years from September 18, 2026. An exercise brings cash into Akamai.
- Conversion and rights: the preferred converts to common only when transferred outside Anthropic and its wholly owned subsidiaries. It carries as-converted dividends, a $0.01 liquidation preference and no vote.
- What the filing states about dilution: the share count only, with no fair value and no percentage. For scale, the June 10-Q cover lists 143,716,609 common shares outstanding on August 3.
Lenovo
- Agreement: a master product and services agreement plus Statement of Work No. 1, signed September 23, 2026, covering hardware, software and services.
- Terms: the master agreement runs three years and continues while any statement of work is active. The first statement of work runs seven years.
- Exit: Akamai may terminate for convenience with notice and "specified termination costs."
- Value: no dollar figure is disclosed.
Jabil
SEC filing: “the Company has authorized Jabil to purchase approximately $1.7 billion of memory components”
- Basis: a build request under the 2019 master services agreement, for customized server hardware plus warranty, spares and repair.
- Cash terms: Akamai pays supplier invoices "upon Jabil's receipt of such components." Jabil holds the memory "in consignment as bailee" and repurchases it "at cost as they are utilized."
- Risk on unused parts: the build request covers "disposal and carrying costs of unconsumed inventory," so Akamai bears it.
- Duration and exit: statements of work renew yearly, and either party may terminate on prior written notice.
What the Memory Buy Does to Cash Flow
The filed cash-flow series (script-computed from SEC XBRL lines):
| Period | Operating cash flow ($M) | Property & equipment ($M) | Capitalized software ($M) | FCF before software ($M) | FCF after software ($M) | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| FY2025 | 1,518.8 | 507.8 | 311.7 | 1,011.0 | 699.3 | SEC 10-K |
| H1 2025 | 710.3 | 263.3 | 156.5 | 447.0 | 290.6 | SEC 10-Q |
| H1 2026 | 638.8 | 246.6 | 171.0 | 392.2 | 221.2 | SEC 10-Q |
The $1.7 billion moves through the accounts in three steps.
- Akamai pays for memory as it lands at Jabil. Cash goes out, and Akamai owns consigned parts.
- Jabil buys the parts back at cost as it builds. Cash comes back.
- Akamai buys the finished servers, memory included, as capital equipment.
The memory ends up in capital spending. The pre-buy moves the cash out earlier and parks it in working capital while the parts sit unused. The 8-K does not say whether those payments will run through operating or investing cash flow.
Scale, script-computed:
- The authorization is 1.1 times fiscal 2025 operating cash flow, and 2.1 times fiscal 2025 capital spending including software.
- The attributed ~$5.5 billion total would be about 6.7 times that capital spending.
- The $5.5 billion is also about 1.6 times the $3.36 billion of cash and short-term investments on hand at June 30.
What @aleabitoreddit called "+$1.7B of 2026 capex" is, in the 8-K, a consignment prepayment. It becomes capital spending only as servers are built. Payments start when memory arrives, after September 24, so the June-quarter series has none of it and the September quarter can hold little. The cash strain shows from the fourth quarter on.
What the third-quarter 10-Q must show:
- The agreements: the Anthropic master agreement, the Lenovo agreement and the Jabil agreement as exhibits. The 8-K promises all three.
- Contracted revenue: a step-up from $7.6 billion that reflects Plans 2 and 3. A small step-up would mean the delivery conditions keep most of the commitment out of the enforceable backlog.
- The warrant: its fair value and how it is booked. Accounting rules generally treat equity granted to a customer as a reduction of that customer's revenue.
- The memory: where consigned memory sits on the balance sheet, and purchase-commitment disclosures for Jabil and Lenovo.
- Funding: any new debt, credit-facility use, or customer prepayment (deferred revenue) behind the build. Also a revised capital-spending outlook.
- Timing: service start dates for Plans 2 and 3. The seven-year clocks, and the revenue, start there.
How the Business Makes Money
- Three offerings, one segment. The 10-K groups solutions into security, cloud computing and delivery, plus services and support. Akamai reports a single operating segment (SEC XBRL).
- Security is the core. "Our security solutions currently generate the largest portion of our revenue" (10-K). Stock Titan's summary of the first-quarter 10-Q puts security at $589.8 million, up 11%, and Cloud Infrastructure Services at $94.6 million, up 40% (attributed; the 10-Q text is not on file).
- Delivery keeps shrinking. "We have continued to experience revenue declines in our delivery solutions," the 10-K says, citing pricing pressure and customers' do-it-yourself traffic.
- Cloud computing. Cloud Infrastructure Services (compute, storage, networking, serverless) "represent the majority of Akamai's strategic investment." Other cloud apps include API acceleration, traffic management and NetStorage.
- Customers and channel. Named customers run from adidas and Airbnb to Sony Interactive and Spotify, plus the Departments of Defense, Labor, Transportation and the Treasury. "No customer accounted for 10% or more of total revenue" in 2023, 2024 or 2025 (10-K). Sales go direct and through partners including Deloitte, Kyndryl, Microsoft Azure, Presidio and WWT.
- Top filed risks (10-K):
- slowing or flat revenue growth
- the ability to source transmission capacity, colocation and equipment, citing "significant cost increases in servers and memory"
- AI initiatives that "may not be successful"
- debt: $1.15 billion of convertible notes due 2027, $1.265 billion due 2029 and $1.725 billion due 2033 at the 10-K date, before May's new 2030 and 2032 notes
What the Company Says It Is Becoming
The 10-K's strategy line: "offering security, compute, delivery and AI infrastructure services." In 2025 Akamai launched Akamai Inference Cloud, "a platform that expands AI inference from core data centers to the edge," and bought Fermyon for serverless edge functions. A March 2026 release announced "thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs." MarketBeat's summary of the first-quarter call says management raised its Cloud Infrastructure Services growth outlook to "at least 50%" for 2026 and expects double-digit total revenue growth by 2027 (attributed). The May convertible release earmarked proceeds for Cloud Infrastructure Services capital spending. Plans 2 and 3 make that outlook concrete. They also make it depend on one tenant.
Is Compute a Second Leg or One Customer?
Today it is one customer. Spread evenly, $11.6 billion over seven years comes to about $414 million a quarter. That is about four times the $94.6 million of first-quarter Cloud Infrastructure Services revenue, and about 38% of trailing-twelve-month revenue ($4.32 billion) per year. These figures are script-computed and illustrative. Actual timing depends on service start dates.
Add the $1.8 billion first plan Benzinga reported in May, and Anthropic's committed total is $13.4 billion. A company with no 10% customer through 2025 will likely report one once services start.
Contracted revenue not yet recognized ran $4.3 billion, $4.8 billion, $5.2 billion and $5.5 billion across the four quarters to March 2026. It then jumped to $7.6 billion at June 30 (SEC XBRL). The jump coincides with the first Anthropic plan; the 10-Q's attribution is not on file.
A second leg would show up as compute bookings and backlog growth from customers other than Anthropic. No filing on disk separates them.
What the Street and Public Conversation Say
Coverage relayed the release; almost nothing analyzed it.
- Relays. Bloomberg's closing-bell segment led with "Akamai Surges on $12 Billion Anthropic AI Computing Deal" (headline only, no transcript). @wallstengine relayed $11.6 billion over seven years for "growing CPU workloads" and "options to expand the relationship by another $9B, bringing the potential total to ~$20B." It also relayed the Jabil memory terms, which match the 8-K. The 8-K itself names no workload type and no options, only the warrant's $3.0 billion vesting steps.
- Supplier read. @aleabitoreddit (Serenity) put capital spending near $5.5 billion, including "+$1.7B of 2026 capex specifically to pre-purchase supply chain components like memory." He framed it as good news for AMD and Micron. The aggregator @buzzberg_ai summarized that read as "who gets paid, i.e., hardware." That is a supplier-side read, and it doubles as the margin objection for Akamai.
- The fade. @CKCapitalxx: "$AKAM was up 25% pre market and closed up 3%" — "I will never FOMO into a stock after a huge deal was announced." The close is confirmed at +3.2%; the pre-market figure is his.
- Analyst targets. @Sam_Badawi relayed Morgan Stanley at Overweight with a $165 target, seeing 2027 revenue growth rising "from 12.5% to 16%," and Piper Sandler at Overweight with $158. His post is truncated and the notes themselves are not on file. For comparison:
- Earlier in 2026: Piper went from $97 to $114 and Oppenheimer from $115 to $130 (April, TipRanks). BofA upgraded to Buy with a $175 target on May 13 (Benzinga).
- Before the deal, Zacks rated it Hold with a forward P/E of 15.9 (September 14).
- Source quality. Two YouTube segments (Bloomberg, Schwab Network) have no transcripts. Hacker News and Reddit returned nothing on the deal. No independent work on the unit economics is on file.
- The counterparty. Akamai's 10-K lists the Defense Department as a customer, and the Pentagon's Anthropic designation was upheld September 25. No source on file says whether it touches Akamai's federal work.
- Insiders. The EVP of global sales sold 3,100 shares ($327,453) on September 15. The chief accounting officer had a tax-withholding transaction on September 12. There are no insider purchases on file.
- Positioning. Short interest was 18.8 million shares at the September 15 settlement, 5.89 days to cover (FINRA via Massive). That is about 13.1% of shares outstanding (script-computed).
The Conviction Chain
| Link | Evidence | Confirms | Breaks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anthropic's commitment is firm | 8-K: "committed to pay," subject to delivery and availability requirements; plans stand separately | Q3 contracted revenue steps up; service start dates disclosed | No step-up; outage notice; a plan terminated |
| Akamai can deliver dedicated capacity at scale | Lenovo and Jabil contracts; existing compute platform and GPU rollout | Services start on schedule | Delays; a material outage |
| The economics work | Nothing filed: capex (~$5.5B, attributed) vs. $11.6B of revenue over seven years; margins unknown | Gross margin stabilizes; capital spending comes in at or under plan | Gross margin keeps falling (59.1% → 55.8% year over year in Q2) |
| The build is funded without heavy dilution | $3.36B cash and short-term investments; zero-coupon converts; warrant exercises bring cash | Prepayments or reasonably priced debt | Equity raise or expensive debt |
| The security core holds | Largest revenue line; +11% in Q1 (attributed summary) | Security growth near double digits | Security decelerates while compute absorbs capital |
| The tape confirms | Back above the 200-day; the deal gap faded to +3.2% | Flag over $108.28, then a close above $126.02 | Close below $108.28 |
Weakest link: the economics and funding of the build. No filing on file quantifies Akamai's capital outlay, depreciation or margin on Anthropic's capacity. The only cost figure in circulation, ~$5.5 billion, is an X relay.

All ratios and derived columns are script-computed. Cash-flow quarters are de-cumulated from year-to-date SEC figures.
Revenue growth is steady in the mid-single digits; profit is not. GAAP operating margin has fallen for three quarters. About $54.6 million of fiscal 2025 restructuring landed in the fourth quarter. The first two quarters of 2026 carried almost none, so the decline is running costs:
- Gross margin slid from 59.3% to 55.8%.
- Depreciation and amortization were $369.3 million in the first half, against $349.5 million a year earlier.
- Stock compensation was $275.0 million against $224.8 million (SEC XBRL).
Non-GAAP EPS beat consensus by a cent in both 2026 quarters ($1.61 and $1.59, per the providers' earnings records). The GAAP line is the one shrinking.
The balance sheet already carries the first leg of the buildout. Cash was $1.48 billion and short-term investments $1.88 billion at June 30. Convertible proceeds were $3.45 billion in the first half, which matches the May release's figure with the option exercised. Total liabilities rose to $10.32 billion from $6.74 billion at March 31 (Massive). The June 10-Q classifies $1.71 billion of convertible notes as current; the reason is not on file. Buybacks took $615.7 million in the first half, more than first-half free cash flow.

Horizon read as of September 25. The long trend is intact but thin: up 51.15% on the year and 33.94 points ahead of the S&P 500, but only 2.5% above the 200-day. Over three years the stock is up 5.88% and 72.58 points behind the index, a laggard that re-rated on AI capacity this year. It is the weakest name on the web-cloud list by distance above the 200-day. Cloudflare is 50.7% above its own.
The one-year most-traded price, $88.56, sits far below. Most of the year's volume changed hands before the May re-rating, so there is little overhead supply between $113.94 and $126.02 and more above.
This is a washout-turn shape, a deep drawdown that just turned. The entry grammar is the flag, not the pop.
Catalysts
- Third-quarter report. Scheduled for early November; Yahoo Finance lists November 5 and TipRanks November 10, and no date confirmed by Akamai is on file. With it come the 10-Q exhibits (Anthropic, Lenovo, Jabil), contracted revenue including Plans 2 and 3, the warrant's valuation, and an updated capital-spending and 2027 outlook.
- Anthropic's first payment under Plan 3. It vests 40% of the warrant. Its timing is not disclosed.
- Further $3.0 billion commitments. Each vests another 20% of the warrant. Now that the agreement is material, a further commitment would likely be filed.
- Micron reports September 30. Memory pricing is context for the value of Akamai's pre-bought parts.
- The October Fed decision. The market is pricing another hike (CNBC, September 23), which sets the cost of funding the build.
Risks and Kill Tests
- Outage clause. Anthropic may terminate each plan on a material outage. A notice kills the thesis.
- Conditional backlog. The commitment depends on delivery and availability. If Q3 contracted revenue does not step up, the thesis breaks.
- Funding and dilution. The build is paid before revenue arrives. An equity raise, or debt priced well above the zero-coupon converts, would reset the case. The warrant adds up to 7,741,020 shares only as Anthropic commits more, so its dilution comes with revenue.
- Stranded memory. Akamai carries the disposal and carrying costs of unconsumed inventory. A memory price reversal would hit the pre-buy.
- Concentration. One customer will dwarf the rest of the compute unit.
- Counterparty. Anthropic's IPO timing and the Pentagon designation are live issues. Their effect on Akamai is not established.
- Margin trend. A fourth straight quarter of falling GAAP operating margin, with no compute revenue yet, would confirm the market's fade.
- Price. A close below $108.28 means the turn failed.

- Special report, "Beaten-Down Software Has Split" (September 25). It set the same watch call and levels. This dive refines it on three points:
- The 200-day reclaim came in the September 21–23 rally, before the deal. On the deal day the stock gave back 6.78% in the regular session.
- That report's $1.01 billion 2025 free cash flow is before $311.7 million of capitalized software.
- The ~$5.5 billion capital figure remains unverified.
- September 24 and 25 market briefs. Akamai fell 6.78% on 2.06 times volume before the announcement, while Fastly fell 10.02%. On Friday it rose 3.20% on 8.91 times volume, the day the Pentagon ruling came down.
- September 21 market brief. Edge cloud led the board, with Akamai +12.33%; no cause on file.
- Board placement. Not on the September 25 Momentum Board; it was in the second tier on May 29. It appears on the September 25 washout-turn watch list.
- Watchlists: web cloud; insider universe.
- Memory-supercycle campaign. A curated pick tagged Akamai's pre-buy as a non-Micron memory demand data point (attributed).
- Amazon profile (September 25). It notes the Akamai deal in its Anthropic section. Anthropic's AWS relationship and this contract are separate tracks.
