another question: Chris has talked about covering his calls/puts before. Im assuming he just means that when he buys calls for example and expects the price to go up but it goes down on a news event, he immediatly buys puts so that he minimizes his downside (or shorts the stock). anyone do this or some variation of it?

with that said, always good to be pro active in profit taking to reduce risk. But i’m with you it’s been one of the harder aspects for me to hone in on and execute - especially options

You got to ask yourself what kind of trader you want to be. Options of course a different game altogether but with shares and BE for example….could you sell yesterday or today and get back in at some point around $205 or something…? probably. But if you’re long term bullish on BE then better off not trying to time things

I believe a lot of the time analyst ratings provide a good read on consensus.

Anyone have a proper methodology for exiting a trade? I know the rule is when there is information parity but there as so many factors. Chris has talked about rolling options which means even before the parity he sells a good chunk of profits. Let me know your thoughts As of now for equity I take about 50-80% of gains out and leave rest in to ride until next time Options I sell if they have significant value also at least 80% of them

Apple and Amazon producing films, and Elon posting AI movie clips, provides a rare insight into their company culture. I've never seen an analysis done where someone says if a company is producing a certain type of art maybe they aren't the type of company that will be growing a lot in the future. I'm not saying it's the sole determiner of a company's worth, but it is a valid puzzle piece

I've been looking at the world through $100 plus oil prices and an erratic political system. Everything is going to whipsaw it seems for the foreseeable future. Oddly enough the one sector I have conviction in is pharmaceuticals/ medical companies usually and currently very volatile. But people are going to need medicine regardless of the economy. I think oil's impact on this sector from a look-through perspective is going to be a lot less. I'm invested in simple stuff. Dry eye disease... Very exciting! HROW I…

And you will learn. If you break your rules that you’re a fucking idiot, and should never haven broken your rules. That makes it easier moving forward to stick to your rules, no matter how tempting it might be.

Every year i choose to work on one thing, years ago I worked on removing all emotions. It took a year and every shade of emotion you could have, but I’m all the better for it now.

But imagine you make 300%-500% in your portfolio and you are crushing it. You have more money you ever thought you would, you feel great. And then imagine losing all that 300%+ all the way back to where you started with your principal capital and then losing 30% of that on top of it. That’s real loss.

Sounds crazy but you have to accept your 100% you were saying you had is pure beginners luck, and you will lose Money. It’s part of the game. But I honestly don’t know any other way to achieve it. It’s like seven stages of addiction, denial, frustration, anger, depression, rage, revenge, and then… zen

For example, I scale out at pre determined price targets for pre determined amounts. Like I sell 20% at 25$ and another 30% at 30$ and 30% at 35$ and let the remaining 20% ride for free in case it goes to the absolute moon and I’m okay with losing that cause I already made my money. It’s the same with my entries. I scale in. If it goes down I’ll add X amount more, and keep adding, if and only if it’s high conviction. Otherwise if it’s low conviction I’ll cut losses at 10%. Biggest thing is you have to develop your…
