What if we are being misinformed in order to keep a lid on the oil price? What if talks are actually NOT going well and a peace treaty is NOT in fact imminent? What if there is no actual "cease fire" given ongoing kinetic action by both sides? What if Exxon and Chevron are right

Most asymmetric oil trade since the COVID lows of April 2020??? Total and complete market apathy while both Exxon and Chevron say we are IMMINENTLY facing an oil price spike/shock.

At the Energy Roundtable Conf. I came with a message for industry important enough to justify a quick fly in/out: we have nothing to apologize for, the world demands more Canadian energy, Pathways should be immediately scrapped, and the future for our sector is incredibly bright.

Energy investors should want a deal. Let's hope the "imminent deal" headlines are actually real, unlike the now 70th time in 2 months. The induced volatility/oil price suppression via social media is paralyzing flows into the sector and I believe there is a lot of buying power

As we get whipped around by tweet, the giant sucking sound continues with the ongoing "battle for the barrel. Forsaking ~1.2BN barrels of production so far, this is our reality: even with moderate demand loss, we see mega-tightness/tank bottoms/shortages in the weeks ahead:

The UAE is building a ~1.4MM Bbl/d, 370km pipeline costing ~$4BN USD, started in 2025 and onstream in 2027. Canada aims to potentially build a 1MM Bbl/d pipeline, to cost ~$40BN, take 8+years, and is tying it to an obsolete/costly $30BN Pathways project. See the difference???

If the cost of a new 1MM Bbl/d pipeline is Pathways, a $30BN project conceived in a vastly different world that erodes our competitiveness, then I say nay. It took me 4 hours to get my 6 year old an ankle x-ray last night...we do not have to live like this, yet choose to. Sad.

What if the Strait does not actually fully open soon? What if the Iranians have decided controlling it gives them more strategic leverage than an actual nuclear bomb? What if oil starts to price shortages rather than just deficits?

Stuck in my head this morning from Jeff Currie: "Financial markets price expectations, commodity markets price the physical reality of today." Oil deficit now oil shortages soon expectations shift rerating of back end of the oil curve significant room to run. Patience.

The Grand Ransomhas now been signed: a reduced & deferred carbon tax to $140/t by 2040, and the promise of a new pipeline that "is tied to Pathways", a $30BN project that is irrelevant and enormously expensive. No other country in the world is doing this to themselves, just .

Even if the Strait fully opened today, the world would still forfeit ~1.5BN barrels of production. Even with demand reduction, SPR releases, and export workarounds, our base case is that inventory levels approach tank bottoms in certain geographies. The worst is yet to come!

US shale production peaked in August 2025 and is down 158,000 Bbl/d from its high, yet I continue to see tweets from a certain US high ranking official proclaiming "record oil production...they've never seen anything like it...bigger than anyone has seen before."

This is potentially a huge deal for the Canadian oil sector: 550,000 Bbl/d of new takeaway capacity, with upsize potential to 900,000, and onstream if FID'd ~2029. If this goes ahead, the "pipe-dream" West Coast pipeline is dead, and with it so too the obsolete Pathways Project.
