Lineage: reactivated from a retired Feb-2026 ideas/cattle-disease-beef-prices idea (retired 2026-03-13 for "catalyst never materialized") on the 2026-06-03 USDA APHIS confirmation of the first US New World Screwworm case in ~60 years. The retirement's own invalidation condition ("no USDA intervention, no supply shock") fired, so the line reopened mechanically.

Why a standalone perspective (not a fold-in): event-driven biological supply shock to the cattle herd → animal-health demand pull + protein rotation. Distinct from food-security (fertilizer/grain/equipment — geopolitical energy cascade); the mechanics and the tradeable universe don't overlap. Paradigm macro (event/supply-shock), priority medium (watch-with-trigger, not an active high-conviction trade — escalates to high on an out-of-zone detection).

The load-bearing, disciplined finding carried into the perspective: the rotation is NOT in the tape yet — the whole complex sold off together (consumer/GLP-1 bear swamps the beef signal); no hurt-down/alternatives-up dispersion. So the perspective opens as a monitoring lane with a defined escalation trigger, not a buy-the-basket call. The clean expression is up-chain at ELAN (wins on herd-health spend regardless of which protein wins), NOT the crushed poultry/plant-based names, and NOT ZTS (broken on its own franchise issues — explicitly not the screwworm trade).

What landed: ACTIVE.json entry (status active, priority medium, paradigm macro, 7 key_tickers ELAN/PAHC/NEOG/ZTS/TSN/HRL/SFD, full watch_for); README + log; site package 2026-06-04-livestock-disease-promoted assembled + gated. Coverage (livestock-disease watchlist, 20 names, verify clean), the ELAN deep-dive (medium conviction), and the alert trigger (out-of-zone detection) were all built before promotion — so this promote was just the ACTIVE.json/README/log lift.

Capacity: this is the 11th active perspective, over the 8 soft cap (ACTIVE.json was at 10). Promoted without a retire per the user's explicit "don't retire anything." Capacity hygiene deferred — the natural future offset remains spacex-ipo-liquidity-event (decays after the 2026-06-12 IPO) + gulf-infrastructure-strike (relevance_until 2026-09-30), but those are NOT actioned here.

Deploy: local staging only — no prod deploy (consistent with the recent "UI being worked on" posture; the user did not request a deploy). Package renders in the local desk mirror.

Open / carried:

• The out-of-zone detection alert is event/news-driven — track APHIS detection updates (no always-on cron; local repo).
• ELAN deep-dive filed two real follow-ups worth noting: Q2 2026 print (~early Aug) for cattle-segment + parasiticide signal + deleveraging; whether NWS parasiticide use shows up in the numbers.
• If escalation fires, re-run the livestock-disease tape to confirm dispersion before upgrading priority and before any paper-trade.
