1. The Read
The United States and Iran spent the week exchanging fire, oil ran to a six-week high, and global bond yields hit their highest levels in decades — and not one hedge asset confirmed any of it. Gold sits 20.2% below its January peak and under its 200-day average. Silver is 45.5% off its own high. The volatility trackers closed at RSI 31.5, 57% below their own 52-week high. The defense primes, the one group a war is supposed to bid, fell 2-9% over the week — Lockheed -6.85%, Northrop -5.55%, General Dynamics -5.27%, RTX -5.20%. Only crude traded the war: oil is +9.6% over seven days and +91.4% over the year. That is not a market pricing danger. It is a market pricing an inflation problem the Federal Reserve will have to answer, and Friday's session was that repricing landing inside technology rather than on top of it.
Friday, September 4 was a rotation, not a risk-off day. Chips ripped — the semis complex gained a median 3.19% with every name higher, memory +6.3%, flash memory +7.0% with all five names green. Cloud software was liquidated the same session: 15 of 16 names red, the weakest sub-industry on the board. But the structure underneath inverts what the price action says. Only 4 of the 18 semis are in a short-term uptrend, and the pop came on ordinary volume — yet 83% of them sit above their 200-day average, beating the market by a median 72 points over the trailing year. The software names that got sold still carry 14 of 16 in an up-trend, sit only 17.0% off their highs, and were sold on the lightest participation anywhere on the tape: 0.67 times average volume. Chips are structurally intact and tactically capped. Software is tactically hit and structurally fine. Neither one is broken, and the day's tape argues the opposite of both.
What to watch: whether the chip pop earns a second leg — a flag, then a breakout on above-average volume — or fades back into the ordinary-volume bounce it currently is; and whether the software pullback stays shallow enough to flag rather than break.

3. Three Things
- Nobody hedged the war. Live US strikes on Iran, tankers reported hit by mines in the Strait of Hormuz, bond yields at multi-decade highs — and gold is below its 200-day, silver 45.5% off its high, volatility at RSI 31.5, and the defense primes down 2-9% on the week. Oil is the only asset trading the conflict. Cross-asset, this is a rates shock wearing a war's clothes.
- The structure inverts the price action, and that is the entry-discipline read. Semis: +3.19% median on Friday, 100% of names up, but only 4 of 18 in a short-term uptrend — against 83% above their 200-day and a median one-year alpha of +72 points. Cloud software: 15 of 16 red on 0.67x volume, but 14 of 16 still trend-up and only 17.0% off their highs. Chase neither on the day's print.
- Beat-and-fade is a week story, not a Friday story. Palo Alto closed Friday +0.40%, Ciena +1.12%, Credo +3.90% — all green on the session. The damage is on the seven-day window: Palo Alto -10.36%, Ciena -15.16%, Credo -26.74%, Zscaler -7.99% (the only one of the four still red on Friday, at -4.50%). Every one of them beat. Reading their weekly declines as Friday's action gets the whole tape backwards.
4. The Big Picture
Act One — A war priced as rates, not fear
The escalation is dated and documented. MarketWatch reported oil surging to a six-week high after US strikes on September 1; CNBC reported Iran claiming two tankers hit naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz on September 2, with the US disputing it; Bloomberg's September 2 wrap ran under "US, Iran Escalate Attacks; Global Bond Selloff Deepens"; CNBC reported global bond yields soaring to multi-decade highs on Middle East inflation fears on September 1. Bloomberg also reported Goldman's Robert Kaplan saying he would lean toward raising rates, and on September 4 that hedge funds had pushed bullish oil bets to their highest since May.
Every one of those is a rates transmission, and the cross-asset tape agrees with the rates read and rejects the fear read. Oil: $141.96 on the crude tracker, RSI 66.2, +9.59% over seven days, +23.57% over 30, +91.37% over the year, 32.1% above its 200-day. Refiners are already hot — Valero RSI 75.2, Phillips 66 RSI 74.8, both on trailing-year gains above 90%.
Against that: gold $406.77, RSI 52.4, 2.1% below its 200-day and 20.2% below its January peak, with Yahoo Finance's September 2 headline tying its recent bounce to hopes of a US-Iran peace deal rather than to war fear. Silver $59.82, 8.4% below its 200-day, 45.5% off its high. The volatility trackers closed at RSI 31.5 and 32.4, down 14% on the month, 57% off their highs. And the defense book sold off during the shooting. No asset on the board is paying for protection. That contrast is the single most interesting cross-asset fact of the week, and it is why long-duration software de-rated on genuinely good earnings: when the discount rate is the story, the quality of the quarter does not save the multiple.
Act Two — The rotation that contradicts itself
Friday's lane leaders were all one trade: flash memory +7.0% (5 of 5 up), memory +6.3% (11 of 11), lithography equipment +6.2% (5 of 6), DRAM +6.1% (4 of 4), neocloud operators +5.7% (8 of 10), semiconductor test and burn-in +5.5% (4 of 4). The single-name tape matched — AEHR +13.1%, SanDisk +11.9%, Power Solutions +11.2%, Cohu +10.3%, Astera Labs +9.8%, AXT +9.7%, Semtech +9.2%.
The lane losers were the mirror: cloud software -3.0% (1 of 16 up), cloud ETFs -2.2% (0 of 4), web cloud -2.0% (1 of 9). Software-Application was the weakest sub-industry on the board. Lululemon -17.4% on 8.69 times average volume, UiPath -16.6%, Asana -12.7% on 3.71 times volume, Adobe -6.7%, Snowflake -5.4%.
The three biggest software decliners were earnings, not macro. Lululemon reported a Q2 revenue decline of 4% and cut full-year guidance after Wednesday's close — and the two outlets covering it publish different revised ranges: CNBC reports full-year sales guidance of $11-11.15 billion, Yahoo Finance reports $10.35-10.5 billion. Both are on file; neither is reconciled here, and the size of that gap is itself worth knowing before quoting either. Asana beat Q2 EPS by a penny ($0.10 against $0.09 consensus) on revenue of $216.4M and fell 12.7% anyway. UiPath beat, guided Q3 in line and raised its full-year revenue outlook to $1.789-1.794 billion — and fell 16.6%. Snowflake's -5.4% is a different animal: it beat by 38.7% on September 2 and ran +16.55% on the 3rd, so Friday gave back part of a pop rather than punishing a print.
Now read the long horizon on both sides and the picture flips. The memory complex that ripped carries a median one-year alpha of +298 points. The semis cohort that ripped is 26.9% off its 52-week highs with only 4 of 18 in a short-term uptrend — a violent bounce inside a still-damaged complex, not a confirmed turn, and it came on roughly average volume. The software complex that got dumped is 17.0% off its highs with 14 of 16 names still classified up-trend, sold on the lightest volume on the tape. The chip move is the one that needs proof; the software move is the one that needs a reason. Within chips the layer matters: every name in the equipment and test book carries a positive trailing year and positive alpha even where price sits below its 200-day, while the chip designers are the ones genuinely damaged — Arm -26.5%, ON Semiconductor -36.6%, Amkor -26.3%, all over three months.
Act Three — Credit cracks, half-lit
High yield posted the sharpest single move on the macro board: RSI collapsed from 52.7 to 38.9 with a fresh death cross, dragging the long bond, investment grade, aggregate bonds and intermediate Treasuries all further below their 200-day averages and further negative on the year. That is real deterioration, and it is the honest worry on this tape.
It is also only half the trigger. The condition that would make "credit is breaking" a call rather than a flag needs the S&P to be under its own 200-day too — and the S&P sits 8.1% above it, 1.2% off its 52-week high, RSI 55.6, still classified strong-up. Bonds are the one place the short window and the long window agree. Equities are not there. Say both halves or say neither.
The benchmark split says the same thing in a different language. The Nasdaq proxy beats the S&P over one year (+24.99% versus +18.65%, and +6.34 points of alpha) but lags it over three months (+1.97% versus +4.43%) — and lags the equal-weight S&P too (+5.37%), whose own one-year alpha is -2.3. Concentration owns the year; breadth owns the quarter. Neither regime is confirmed, which is the honest summary of the whole week.
5. Focus List
Every row is the Friday, September 4 settled close. The two memory names are the tape's extreme, the quantum basket is the tape's dead weight, and the mega-caps were red on a day the market called a chip rally.

6. Sector Scorecard
Eleven S&P sectors, Friday close. Three carry genuine structural damage — below their 200-day and flat-to-negative on the year. Consumer Discretionary and Communication Services both joined that list this week; Utilities was already there.
| Sector | RSI | 7D | 30D | 1Y | vs 200-day | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Energy (XLE) | 63.1 | +2.25% | +11.78% | +43.83% | +16.8% | Winner |

| Staples (XLP) | 45.2 | -0.97% | -0.88% | +4.89% | +1.5% | Mixed |
| Cons Discretionary (XLY) | 44.6 | -1.98% | -3.14% | -2.27% | -1.8% | Loser |

| Utilities (XLU) | 43.9 | +0.82% | -1.33% | +2.89% | -3.5% | Loser |
Below the sector line, the industry board tells a sharper story. Oil and gas exploration leads on every window (+44.20% on the year, 20.4% above its 200-day). China internet is the one clean breakdown (-31.34% on the year, 14.2% below its 200-day). Software and retail carry the same signature as Communication Services and Consumer Discretionary — above the 200-day but flat-to-negative on the year with badly lagging alpha. Solar, uranium and aerospace-defense all sit below their 200-day on a still-positive year: trends under test, not verdicts.

7. Market Vibe
Low-conviction grind. Say it plainly rather than dressing it up.
- Eight regime gauges, none firing. Buffer-ETF cap saturation — the melt-up tell — reads neutral. Broad breadth reads mixed. Sector relative-strength rotation reads mixed. Two gauges lean risk-on (compressed volatility, miners leading metal); none lean risk-off.
- Volatility is calm and cheap. VIX 14.53, up 1.5% on the day, below the 16 line where a fear discount would exist. No fire-sale trigger anywhere near.
- Breadth is a coin flip. 566 names up, 539 down, 14 flat across 1,119 tracked names, at a median one-day change of +0.1%. Underneath: 292 confirmed uptrends against 123 downtrends, with 418 names in pullback and 152 in collapse.
- The mega-caps were red on a chip-rally day. Apple -2.51%, Microsoft -2.04%, Alphabet -1.17%, Tesla -5.92%. Only NVIDIA (+0.84%) and Meta (+1.0%) closed green. A tape whose largest weights fall while its most damaged cohort rips is rotating, not trending.
- The rotation map's fastest-accelerating lanes are the entire physical AI build-out — neocloud operators, high-speed server networking, transformers and grid interconnect, etch equipment, racks and mechanical infrastructure — all accelerating with breadth still unconfirmed. Probe, not a call.

9. The Front Page
The perspectives that moved
Memory Supercycle got its cleanest confirming week yet: flash memory +7.0% with every name up, memory +6.3% with every name up, DRAM +6.1%, and TrendForce now modelling memory chips at 68% of cloud-provider capital spending in 2027 — up from under half in 2026. The lane's median one-year alpha of +298 points says this is not a one-day pop.
US Energy Dominance is the week's live catalyst and its most extended trade. Crude +91.4% on the year and 32.1% above its 200-day, refiners at RSI 75, hedge funds at their most bullish oil positioning since May. Every upstream and services name flipped from a negative to a positive week.
AI Power Bottleneck repaired hard: Bloom Energy +20.0% on the week on a confirmed Q2 beat with record revenue and raised guidance, its 200-day cushion widening to +32.2%; Constellation and Talen both recovered double-digit RSI, and Constellation crossed back above its 200-day (+0.9%) for the first time in weeks.
AI Capex Digestion is the counter-case and it also got evidence: the neocloud lane accelerated fastest of anything on the rotation map (+5.7% on Friday, 8 of 10 up) while cloud software was liquidated on the lightest volume on the tape. Both readings are consistent with capital rotating from software rent toward physical capacity.
The Gold Anomaly stayed anomalous — metal below its 200-day for a second straight week during an active war, while the miners outperformed the metal by 13.6% over 30 days. The miners-lead-metal split is the only risk-appetite gauge on the board leaning positive inside the gold complex.

Moderna (+165.5% above its 200-day, +206.8% over three months), Iovance (+123.8%), AbCellera (+122.5%), 10x Genomics (+116.5%) and Dell (+106.8%) lead the parabolic tier. Eight of the 24 parabolic names are biotech — a melt-up running entirely apart from the chip story. Nineteen names now carry RSI 70 or higher, dominated by refiners: Marathon Petroleum 78, Valero 75, Phillips 66 75, CVI 75. That tier is a trim list, not an entry list.
Deep-dive spotlight — Nebius
The refreshed Nebius work is the cleanest example of the neocloud lane's central question. Revenue more than quintupled year over year in the second quarter and the company is profitable at the adjusted-EBITDA line — but the contract terms are the part worth reading. Four landmark deals, customer prepayments funding a large share of the capital spending behind them, and a payback measured in under two years. The full contract economics are in the company profile; what matters here is that the demand arrived with cash attached rather than as backlog.
Then NVIDIA bought in, taking a disclosed high-single-digit stake through a pre-funded warrant. That is strategic validation, cheaper growth capital, and a demand-quality complication in one transaction: the supplier is funding the clusters that buy the supplier's ecosystem. The loop works if unrelated customers fill the halls. Q2 proved the customers and the contract economics; utilization and cash after deployment are the next proof. The stock closed $226.39, RSI 53.5, 46.3% above its 200-day with the trailing year re-accelerating to +249%. Conviction: medium.

- High yield's death cross. RSI 52.7 → 38.9 with the cross confirmed, the sharpest single move on the macro board. The compound "credit is breaking" condition also requires the S&P below its 200-day; it is 8.1% above. Half-lit, and the half that is lit matters.
- Broadcom's 200-day test resolved down. Price 3.0% below its 200-day, RSI 38.1, after shrugging off a September 2 beat that included AI semiconductor revenue up 221% year over year. The watch level for a re-entry is the $352.12 shelf.
- Credo broke its 200-day on a confirmed beat. EPS $1.16 against $1.03 consensus on September 1, and Yahoo Finance reported the stock falling roughly 19% the next session on margin-pressure and guidance worries. Its 200-day gap flipped from +33.4% to -2.7% in a week.
- TJX at RSI 22.3 for a second straight week, the lowest print on any board, with a Jefferies downgrade to Hold now on file (August 28) and its one-year return newly negative. That is deterioration, not a discount.
- Gold crossed below its 200-day for a second consecutive week (-2.1%), 20.2% off its January peak, while the miners outperformed. A close back above the 200-day that holds a full week is the condition that changes the read.
- The signal-convergence board's leaders are all chips: ASML (score 5, eight boards), Intel (5), Marvell (4), TSMC (4), Bloom Energy (4), CrowdStrike (4). Twelve names convergent against sixteen divergent.
- Adobe fell 6.7% with no coverage behind it. Its news file was last pulled July 31 and no matching event is on record for the move — news not pulled for this move, not an absence of cause. Its next print is scheduled for September 10.

11. The Wild & Whacky
- Memory eats the capex budget. TrendForce now models DRAM and NAND rising from under half of hyperscaler spending in 2026 to more than two-thirds in 2027 — the poster who flagged it notes his own earlier ~50% estimate undershot.
- Broadcom's CEO says laser demand is "far surpassing supply" even as the company triples capacity, with fiscal 2028 revenue guidance near $230B against a Street model closer to $180B. A direct read on how tight the optical build-out really is, from the company selling into it.
- Nscale's contracted-revenue backlog roughly doubled to $103B ahead of its IPO, on a single $45B Anthropic compute deal, per The Information.
- NVIDIA told JPMorgan its unconstrained demand could run above 100% year over year — the ~70% guide is a supply ceiling, not a demand ceiling.
- Eric Nuttall's political clock: 60 days to the US midterms with diesel at a record, gasoline at $4.10 a gallon and the 10-year at 4.75% — the pressure to push oil down only builds. CNBC separately reported diesel hitting a record high on September 4 as the Ukraine and Iran wars knocked out refining.
- The US and China drew nearly the same fossil-fuel share of power in 2025 (57% versus 58%) by opposite fuels — US gas, China coal — with the forecast having them cross by 2030.
- The 30-year Treasury entered September on its worst stretch since 2006, per Bloomberg, which named the deficit, a corporate issuance wave, and a September Fed meeting priced at 59% for a hike.
- Dogecoin popped 12.5% on the weekend bar, crossing back above its own 200-day. The coverage receipt predates the move; the cause is unresolved.
- Ultragenyx fell 40.3% on the week into RSI 21.1 on 3.2x average volume. News was pulled September 4 and returned zero items, and no matching event is on record — no cause established.
12. Paper Trade Report Card
Five mechanical books, one trade all session. That is the honest signal from a low-conviction tape.
| Book | Value | Return | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| yolo | $112,317.36 | +12.32% | Cash-accounted |
| claude-trader | $110,581.47 | +10.58% | Cash-accounted |
| bench-signals | $59,481.88 | +6.95% | Notional (P&L over all-time buy totals) |
| bench-signals | $59,481.88 | +12.08% | Same book, measured over currently-open cost basis |
| momentum-trader | $99,693.04 | -0.31% | Cash-accounted |
| dip-buyer | $100,000.00 | 0.00% | Cash-accounted, fully in cash since August 12 |
Both bench-signals figures are correct; they answer different questions (all-time capital efficiency versus current-book return), so both are shown rather than picking one silently.
The exit pass across the four mechanical cash books requested zero sells and filled zero — nothing hit a stop. Four of the five books passed with documented reasoning: dip-buyer screened 179 names at RSI under 40 and zero cleared all five entry legs; momentum-trader's market gate has been shut for ten straight sessions (the S&P at $770.19 in a basing regime against its $779.37 pivot); claude-trader and bench-signals found nothing. The single fill was yolo buying $7,000 of the 3x semiconductor fund at $117.28 on a 200-day reclaim plus an RSI cross up through 40.
One position-management note that sits outside that pass: bench-signals recorded a same-session stop on Lululemon at $100.61, -20.89% against a $127.18 entry — a mechanical stop that breached rather than triggered cleanly, which is what a -17.4% gap does to a percentage stop.
13. What I'd Tell a Friend
Conditions, not calls. Every level below is a trigger to watch, and every one has an invalidation.
Do not chase the chip pop. The semis complex needs a flag — a multi-day consolidation that holds — and then a breakout on above-average volume before Friday's move counts as a leg. It ran on roughly average volume with only 4 of 18 names in a short-term uptrend. The long-horizon evidence (83% above their 200-day, +72 points of median one-year alpha) says the trend is intact; it does not say today is the entry.
Within chips, prefer the equipment layer to the designers. Every name in the wafer-fab equipment and test book carries a positive trailing year and positive alpha even where price sits below its 200-day. The designers are the genuinely damaged ones — Arm, ON, Amkor all down more than 26% over three months. Watch for a real-volume follow-through in equipment; the designers need a base first.
Software is the higher-quality setup if the pullback stays shallow. 14 of 16 cloud names still trend-up, 17.0% off highs, sold on 0.67x volume. Watch for it to flag rather than break. Datadog at $212.93, RSI 38.7, is the deepest pullback in the group and still 20.7% above its 200-day — the condition is a higher low that holds with RSI turning back through 45, and the invalidation is a close below the 200-day.
Defense: two names are watchable, three are not. General Dynamics at $359.39, RSI 31.0, is testing its 200-day at $354.53 from just above with a +11.46% year — a hold of that line with RSI turning up is the condition. RTX at $200.79 stays 4.0% above its 200-day with +26.54% on the year, the cleanest of the primes. Lockheed at $525.28 has already flipped 5.7% below its 200-day; the condition there is a reclaim of $556.86, with $516.86 as the shelf below. Northrop and L3Harris are negative on both the year and the 200-day — those are breakdowns, not dips.
Energy is right and extended at the same time. Crude 32.1% above its 200-day, refiners at RSI 75. The trade has been made. Entries here are pullbacks that hold a moving average, not new highs.
Do not buy the bond complex on "oversold." All five macro bond funds are death-crossed, below their 200-day and negative on the year. High yield's RSI 38.9 is the trigger for watching, not buying.
Names where every window agrees on damage — Lululemon (-51.18% year, 34.1% below its 200-day, a confirmed guidance cut), TJX, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Norwegian, Nike, China internet, Wolfspeed, MP Materials. Cheap is not the same as turning.

15. Scan Summary
Thirty-four boards ran on the Friday, September 4 settled close: Market Pulse, AI Sector, AI Infrastructure, Biotech, NVIDIA Ecosystem, Defensives, Healthcare, Consumer, Retail, Cloud ETFs, Cybersecurity, EV & Clean Energy, ETF Universe, Insider Activity, Bargain Bin, Tech Insider Buys, Crypto, Macro & Commodities, Defense Contractors, Geopolitical Risk, Optical Supply Chain, Drone & Defense, Supply-Chain Traces, Semiconductor Equipment, Food Security, Cultural Signals, Airlines, Chemicals, Travel & Leisure, Momentum Board, Momentum Discovery, Turnaround Watch, Lazarus Watch and the Momentum ETF Screen. Eleven candidate roundups ran alongside them.
Coverage notes worth carrying: 2,632 of 2,656 tracked rows carry a September 4 bar. The nine crypto coins are priced off the Saturday, September 5 bar because crypto trades weekends — an expected split basis, not a data problem. Three European optical names (SOI.PA, ALRIB.PA, LPK.DE) are frozen on an August 27 bar and two more printed zero volume; treat all five as unconfirmed rather than flat. Adobe's coverage receipt predates its move by five weeks.

A desk call is an authored stance from a published report; entry and invalidation conditions are human-read, and the full ledger lives at /calls.
30d vs SPY is the raw name-vs-SPY move since the call — for trim/sell calls a NEGATIVE number means the call worked (the name fell after it).

web— Eric Nuttall - 60 days to the midterms with diesel at a record $XLE $XOP $VLO $PSX $MPC $USO $BNO · link- Nuttall frames the energy tape as a political clock: 60 days to the US midterms with $240/bbl diesel, $4.10/gallon gasoline and the 10-year at 4.75%, arguing pressure on the President to say or do something to push oil down only builds from here. Worth keeping because it landed the same session US national diesel set…
𝕏Paradis — TrendForce: memory chips to hit 68% of cloud-provider capex in 2027 $MU $SNDK · link- TrendForce now models DRAM and NAND rising from under half of hyperscaler spending in 2026 to more than two-thirds in 2027 — the poster notes even his own earlier estimate (~50%) undershot it. A concrete, sourced number for how fast memory is eating the AI-infrastructure budget.
𝕏Winston — the US and China drew almost the same fossil-fuel share of power in 2025 · link- IEA-sourced chart: the US and China landed at nearly the same fossil-fuel share of generation in 2025 (57% vs 58%) but via opposite fuels (US gas, China coal) - and the forecast has their fossil shares crossing by 2030. Useful grounding for how much gas-fired capacity the US grid still needs to add to keep up with AI…
𝕏Serenity — Broadcom's CEO: laser demand "far surpassing supply" $AVGO · link- Broadcom's own earnings-call commentary tonight: laser supply can't keep up with demand even as the company triples capacity, and FY28 revenue guidance (~$230B) came in well above the Street's ~$180B model. Direct read on how tight the optical-buildout capacity picture actually is, from the company selling into it.
𝕏IPO Newsroom — Nscale now touts $103B in contracted revenue ahead of its IPO · link- Per The Information (relayed here): Nscale's contracted-revenue backlog roughly doubled, from $51B to $103B, on the back of a single $45B Anthropic compute deal. A concrete marker of how much AI-lab demand is flowing into neocloud capacity ahead of the IPO wave.
𝕏Serenity — Nvidia told JPMorgan its demand could run 100%+ y/y unconstrained $NVDA · link- Nvidia's own investor-relations framing, relayed here: guidance of ~70% y/y growth (to ~$682B FY28) is a supply ceiling, not a demand ceiling — unconstrained demand implies over $800B. Useful number to have on hand for how much slack is left in the compute build-out even after two years of triple-digit growth.
𝕏Eric Nuttall — global oil inventories at all-time lows despite record SPR/floating-storage draws · link- Eric Nuttall's numbers on the physical oil market underneath tonight's energy strength: Middle East production down 7.4 million barrels/day versus February, Strait exports down at least 4 million barrels/day, and global inventories at record lows even after absorbing 400M+ barrels of SPR and floating-storage releases.
web— Palo Alto Networks Beats Quarterly Estimates on AI Demand $PANW · link- The resolution to the cybersecurity cluster question. The group broke out together last week then sold off together today — eleven of eleven red, the worst board on the tape — into this print. Palo Alto beat on AI-driven demand for detection and response, with the stock nearly doubled on the year. Worth reading for wh…
web— Bond Slide Spreads to Emerging Markets on Fed Rate Hike Bets $HYG · link- The contagion leg of the same story and the reason it is worth two reads rather than one: the selloff stopped being a US duration event and became a global risk-appetite event. Useful as a check on whether this is positioning or something worse — if EM debt keeps bleeding while US high yield stays orderly (it fell onl…
web— US 30-Year Bond Enters September on Worst Stretch Since 2006 $TLT · link- The single best framing of what drove today's tape. Yields on the longest Treasuries have not been this high for this long since 2006, and Bloomberg names the three things keeping them there: the deficit, a fresh wave of corporate issuance, and a September Fed meeting the market now prices at 59% for a hike. Read this…
