Brief Ticker Tape

1. The Read

The ceasefire broke, and the index shrugged. The U.S.–Iran ceasefire is over: President Trump declared it done and the U.S. struck Iranian missile sites and defense systems and reinstated a Strait of Hormuz port blockade (CNBC, Semafor). Oil already carries the supply-risk premium that implies — WTI up ~7% on the week (USO), Brent up ~7.5% (BNO) — but it barely moved today, which says the market had largely priced the escalation ahead of the strikes. What the shock didn't produce was a haven bid in the usual places: silver sold off hard (SLV −3.4% on the day, −19% on the month) and gold kept sliding (GLD −6.6% on the month) as the dollar took the safety trade instead (the greenback firm and trending up), while bonds offered no shelter either (TLT flat, still in a downtrend). And yet at the index level the shock barely registered — the S&P closed −0.2% — with the damage concentrated well away from the tape's surface; underneath, the regime map is still nearly two-thirds in pullback or collapse (509 of 820 names).

The damage was all in the chips. The selling concentrated in semiconductors: leveraged chips cratered (SOXL −14.9% on the day, −45% on the month), Korea — the memory proxy — fell with them (EWY −5.5%), and the broad group followed (SMH −4.3%). The memory-supercycle names extended their correction rather than broke it: Micron ($881.63, RSI 43, −18.9% on the month), SanDisk (−29.2%), Seagate (−22.3%) and Western Digital (−23.7%) are all deep in drawdown. That reads as a cycle pausing, not a thesis snapping — the setups turn on pricing prints that aren't due yet, so a leader like Micron back near its $920–985 range reads as a dip, not an exit. What the tape actually rewarded sat well away from the chips: money-center banks broke out (JPM within ~1% of its high, +5% on the week; BAC clearing highs, though stretched at RSI 73), Block (XYZ) pushed to a fresh high (+7.6% on the week, +21% over three months), and Carpenter (CRS) held a shallow pullback inside a durable secular uptrend (+97% on the year).

The standout, and the why. The one name lighting the board is META, which lit four of its five bells: it cleared the ~$665 level that had capped it and closed $683.57 (RSI 67, +15% on the month) — a second attempt at the turn, and this one held. The catalyst layer explains the split screen. Fed Chair Warsh warned that if AI companies disappoint investors, capital will dry up — a caution that landed squarely on a day the AI-hardware complex was being sold — while a clearly positive print, Alibaba up ~4% on Qwen's integration into Apple Intelligence, lifted the China names (BABA +8.8% on the week). The quality-dip shelf is worth watching but not chasing: BESIY, CF, COST, FCX and GEV all sit inside their buy zones but are still trending down, approaching support rather than turning off it, and Lockheed — in its zone but strong-down — is the falling-knife caution, not the entry. With the chip selloff a single session old and the dips sitting in their ranges rather than basing, the setup rewards patience: let the semis find a floor, and let the banks-and-platforms leadership prove it can broaden.

2. What Changed Since the Last Brief

Screen CROSSINGS between the previous brief's close ( ) and this one — a name appears only on the session it crossed, not for as long as it stays there. Every name carries its before → after.

The 52-week-high screen is omitted for this date: the price history spans less than a year (0 of 1092 symbols), and a short window would report an 8-month high as a 52-week one. Omitted rather than wrong.
