SK Hynix is in exploratory talks to manufacture memory chips in the United States for the first time: one scenario has it leasing part of Intel's Ohio plant, another a joint venture with Intel and large cloud buyers. Nothing is decided and Seoul's resistance to moving the technology offshore is the named obstacle, but HBM capacity landing onshore would change both Intel's foundry case and where the memory cycle physically gets built.
