EV/Clean Energy Scan
EV/Clean Energy Scan
EV/clean energy is a sector-wide washout this week: Chinese EVs are in capitulation (BYDDY RSI 19.2, XPEV 22.8, LI 26.1 — all down 19-27% 30D), solar is cracking (ENPH -32% 30D, SEDG -29% 30D, TAN -19% 30D), and lithium names are rolling over (ALB RSI 28.1, SQM 34.1) — BE is the lone survivor but +88% above VWAP after a +89% 3M run makes it a trim/hold, not an add.
Latest bar Friday 2026-06-26 (all names fresh).
Quick Snapshot
| Signal | Reading |
|---|---|
| Overall | 🔴 Broad sector selloff EOW — Chinese EVs collapsing, solar cracking, lithium rolling; only RIVN and ENS hold neutral; BE (RSI 43.2, +89% 3M) is a hold but extended at +88% above VWAP |
| Key insight | Three separate distress clusters: (1) Chinese EVs (BYDDY RSI 19.2, XPEV 22.8, LI 26.1) are approaching capitulation but ALL have death crosses and are structurally broken — oversold doesn't mean dip; (2) Solar (ENPH/SEDG/TAN -19 to -32% 30D) is in a sharp rollover from April highs after golden-cross recoveries; (3) Lithium (ALB RSI 28, SQM 34) is breaking down on supply glut. TSLA (RSI 41.4, death cross) is the tell — if Tesla can't hold, the EV thesis is still under pressure |

Tier Analysis
RSI < 25 — Capitulation Watch:
BYDDY (RSI 19.2, strong-down, death cross, -25.6% vs SMA200) and XPEV (RSI 22.8, strong-down, death cross, -36.4% vs SMA200) are approaching extreme oversold. The critical test: are these capitulation entries or falling knives? The structural case for both is broken — death cross, deep below all SMAs, -45% and -57% from 52wk highs respectively. Note the froth read reversal: BYDDY pricePctVsVwap -28.81% (below VWAP), XPEV -39.39% — price is meaningfully below where most volume traded, suggesting sellers are capitulating into structural weakness, not fresh buyers accumulating. relVolume 0.10 on BYDDY is ominously LOW (almost no volume) — not panic exhaustion, just steady drift down. These are NOT buys on RSI alone; need death cross resolution + volume surge for a floor signal.
LI (RSI 26.1, strong-down, death cross, -35% vs SMA200, -62% from high) is deeper in collapse. -31% 3M, -23.7% 30D. pricePctVsVwap -41.57% (VWAP $20.61 vs price $12.04). Same falling-knife verdict.
ALB (RSI 28.1, down, golden cross technically, -9.1% vs SMA200) is the most interesting in this tier: lithium pure-play, golden cross is intact (different from the Chinese EV deathcrosses), +9.82% pricePctVsVwap (above VWAP at $121.75). But -8.56% 7D, -24.47% 30D, -25.3% 3M — rolling hard. The golden cross just signals the longer-term trend hasn't fully rolled; the supply glut is the fundamental problem. Watch near SMA200 ($147) for a stabilization test — that's the line between "big correction" and "breakdown."
RSI 25-40 — Solar Washout and Approaching Oversold:
The solar cluster (ENPH, SEDG, TAN, ICLN) is in a coordinated sharp decline after golden-cross recoveries from 2025 lows. All have golden crosses (above SMA200 on most), but -14.5% to -17.1% below SMA20 this week signals the recovery is failing.
ENPH (RSI 43.4, golden cross, +20.5% vs SMA200) leads the damage: -10.5% 7D, -32.3% 30D — one of the sharpest solar names. pricePctVsVwap +19.87% (above VWAP) means there's still overhead supply; the VWAP anchor ($39.69) is well below current price even after the drop. SEDG (RSI 42.2, golden cross, +26.5% vs SMA200) similar: -11.42% 7D, -29.33% 30D. Both names need to hold their SMA50 levels (ENPH $47.94, SEDG $53.88) to avoid the golden cross breaking.
NXT (RSI 37.0, golden cross, +1.7% vs SMA200) stands out: -10.71% 7D on 11.44x average volume (relVol 11.44) — this is an abnormally high volume event. Something event-specific happened (earnings? sector news?). At the SMA200 line, a volume-confirmed test here could be capitulation or continuation; needs investigation.
NIO (RSI 36.8, death cross, -16.1% vs SMA200) is broken Chinese EV within this tier. Avoid.
PLUG (RSI 33.6, down, golden cross technically, -2.3% vs SMA200) has golden cross but -38.65% 30D is catastrophic — hydrogen fuel cell thesis continues to fail. Despite being near SMA200, the -17.1% below SMA20 shows the near-term trend is sharply lower. LCID (RSI 55.4, strong-down, death cross, -50% vs SMA200, -82% from high) is a zombie — RSI 55 from structural weakness (bounce off lows) not recovery.
RSI 40-56 — Mixed:
BE (RSI 43.2, weak-down, golden cross, +57% vs SMA200) is the most interesting hold in the scan. pricePctVsVwap +87.67% (VWAP $134.29, poc $152.05) — this is the extreme froth read of the scan. BE is up +89.15% 3M and just had a massive +5x relVolume event (relVol 5.04 on 57M shares vs avg 11M). This week alone -9.9% 7D. The structure is still intact (golden cross, above SMA200) but the near-term is rotating hard after a parabolic move. Trim near current levels if overweighted; hold core; don't add until it pulls back to SMA50 (~$273) or SMA200 ($160) for a re-entry.
FSLR (RSI 41.4, weak-down, golden cross, +2% vs SMA200) is the quality solar name hanging in there: -12.64% 30D but still golden cross, near SMA200. pricePctVsVwap +7.54% (VWAP $222.30 vs price $239) — above fair value but not extreme. Watch SMA200 ($234.47) as the key floor; if it holds there's a quality dip forming.
Froth Read
BE: price $252.02, pricePctVsVwap +87.67% (VWAP $134.29, poc $152.05). +89% 3M. relVol 5.04 on a down week (-9.9% 7D). The parabolic run has taken price nearly 2x above the volume-weighted anchor. Hold if owned with a long-term thesis; trim if overweighted. DO NOT ADD here.
ENS: price $221.90, pricePctVsVwap +42.03% (VWAP $156.24, poc $174.19). +29.6% 3M, +32.7% vs SMA200. Extended but not as extreme as BE; thesis-hold territory.
SEDG: price $51.75, pricePctVsVwap +35.68% (VWAP $38.14, poc $33.34). Above VWAP despite a -29% 30D crash — the drop is steep but VWAP is still below. Watch if VWAP breaks as entry.
Entry Zones
| Stock | Price | RSI | 30D% | Setup |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FSLR | $239.07 | 41.4 | -12.64% | Best quality dip in solar — golden cross, +2% vs SMA200 ($234.47). Watch SMA200 as floor; RSI 41 is approaching oversold for this name |
| ALB | $133.70 | 28.1 | -24.47% | Contrarian only — golden cross intact, pricePctVsVwap +9.8% (near fair value). -9.1% vs SMA200 is the risk; needs supply-glut narrative shift |
| DRIV | $37.05 | 40.8 | -10.42% | EV ETF with intact golden cross, +14.1% vs SMA200; broader EV-mobility thesis, avoids single-EV-maker risk |
Action Matrix
| Action | Stocks | Why |
|---|---|---|
| ⚠️ TRIM | BE | +88% above VWAP, -9.9% 7D; parabolic run needs digestion; reduce overweight, keep core |
| 🔍 WATCH | FSLR, DRIV, LIT, ICLN, TAN, NXT, ENS | Golden cross intact; need RSI stabilization + volume exhaustion signal |
| 🔍 WATCH — CONTRARIAN | ALB, SQM, KARS | Approaching oversold; watch for lithium supply-glut narrative shift |
| 🔍 WATCH | RIVN | Weak-up near SMA200; -31% from high; neutral structure, no edge |
| ❌ DON'T BUY | BYDDY, XPEV, LI, NIO | RSI 19-37 but ALL death cross, deep below SMA200; falling knives, not dips |
| ❌ DON'T BUY | TSLA | Death cross, -9.2% vs SMA200, -23.9% from high; RSI 41 is a false floor here |
| ❌ DON'T BUY | ENPH, SEDG, PLUG | Steep monthly drops (-29% to -39%), below SMA20 by 14-17%; solar recovery failing |
| ❌ DON'T BUY | LCID | -82% from high, -50% vs SMA200; zombie |
What Changed This Week
- ENPH -10.5% 7D, -32.3% 30D — one of the worst performers in the scan; solar recovery breaking
- SEDG -11.42% 7D, -29.3% 30D — paired solar collapse; both names golden-cross but momentum inverting sharply
- NXT -10.71% 7D on 11.4x average volume — abnormal; investigate catalyst
- BE -9.9% 7D after +89% 3M — parabolic unwind in motion; pricePctVsVwap +88% still extreme
- BYDDY RSI 19.2 with relVol 0.10 — capitulation drift without volume = no floor signal yet; not actionable
- TSLA -8.46% 7D, death cross — US EV leader joining the sector selloff
- ALB RSI 28.1, -8.56% 7D — lithium entering deep oversold; first possible contrarian accumulation zone if thesis holds
