Update

BE — candidate.roundup

Reason: Power and fuel split. The power names that repaired a week earlier gave it back: $CEG fell 8.96% to 4.5% under its 200-day and $GEV 8.31% to 1.3% under, both above the line on October 9, while $BE fell 21.1% but holds 2.3% above its 200-day on a +92.29% year and $TLN fell 6.28% to sit 1.0% above its line. The fuel names went the other way: $CVI rose 5.86% to RSI 73.3 as Brent touched $110 for the first time since May (Bloomberg, October 16), and CNBC tied Friday's oil jump to Iran's escalated Hormuz attacks. $ECO cooled from extended.

As of 2026-10-16. Status reads the 200-day trend first and RSI second; Action is a trend-hold lens: an extended name is never an entry, and a name below its 200-day with a negative year is not a dip.

What Changed Since 2026-10-09

  • CEG: down 8.96% on the week (1.32% on Friday) to RSI 47.1. A week ago it was 4.2% above its 200-day; it is now 4.5% under it ($284.21) on a −31.56% year with alpha −47.1 points, 34.08% under its high. The rise after the Google nuclear agreement (MarketWatch, October 6) did not hold a retest. The FinancialContent quote page in its October 15 news pull lists the completed sale of the Brazos Valley Energy Center to LS Power; no source ties the week's fall to it.
  • TLN: down 6.28% to RSI 56.7, 1.0% above its 200-day ($351.30), from 7.6% above; still −15.12% on the year, +23.37% on the month. The company's release list in its October 15 news pull shows a CEO appointment effective at year-end, a buyback authorization raised to $3.0 billion and a third-quarter report date of November 3 (release dates not shown). Cause of the week's drop not on file.
  • GEV: down 8.31% to RSI 40.0 and now 1.3% under its 200-day ($933.68), from 8.5% above on October 9, on a +53.02% year; 22.97% under its high. GE Vernova's own release (news pull of October 15) reports completing the purchase of the remaining 50% of Prolec GE for $5.275 billion; no source ties the drop to it. The strong year keeps this a long trend under test, not a break.
  • BE: down 21.1% (6.34% on Friday) to RSI 36.5, 37.0% under its high, 2.3% above its 200-day ($216.30) on a +92.29% year: still a pullback in an intact trend, but the cushion is thin after 32% a week ago. Monday's 6.5% drop had no cause on file (October 12 market brief); no later item explains the rest. The October 12 brief has the company reporting October 22 after the close; the event file lists October 22 (an October 27 entry was superseded).
  • ECO: down 3.66% to RSI 57.5, from extended (73.7) to a normal reading; 59.9% above its 200-day on a +193.81% year. A Seeking Alpha piece of October 13 argues the geopolitical "peace window" has closed for tanker rates (one analyst's view, not a filing).
  • CVI: up 5.86% to RSI 73.3, 3.29% under its high, 80.9% above its 200-day on a +84.5% year; still extended. The monster scan lists five refiners among its 14 parabolic names, with CVI, MPC and DINO at RSI 71 to 75. Brent touching $110 (Bloomberg, October 16) and Iran's escalated Hormuz attacks (CNBC, October 16) are the lane's context; no CVI-specific item is on file.
  • Roster unchanged since October 9: no entrants, no dropouts.

Watch

The 200-days decide the power names: CEG $284.21 and GEV $933.68 to reclaim, TLN $351.30 and BE $216.30 to hold. ECO and CVI are not entries until they reset. Bloom Energy is scheduled for October 22, GE Vernova and CVR Energy for October 28 (provider dates) and Talen for November 3 (company release).
