1. The Read
The price of money set the tape. US crude hit $100 a barrel and the ten-year Treasury yield topped 4.9%, its highest since 2023, with a Treasury buyback operation that bought fewer bonds than expected adding to the selloff (CNBC and Bloomberg, September 10). The oil fund closed +5.6% at an RSI of 78 on 2.3× average volume and the Brent fund +6.4%; the long-bond fund fell 1.2% on 2.1× volume, high-yield credit sagged to an RSI of 28.7, gold lost 1.7% and silver 5.3%. Volatility bid 8.4% to 17.84 and stayed inside its normal band — nowhere near a fire-sale trigger. The index damage was mild and the breadth damage was not: the S&P 500 fund closed -0.6% at $757.83 and the Nasdaq 100 fund -1.1%, while 844 of 1,115 names fell and 45 of 124 lanes closed at least 90% red. Not one closed 90% green.
The selling sorted by balance sheet, not by theme. The GPU-cloud independents closed -4.9% median with all ten members red, memory -4.2% with none of eleven up, NAND flash -4.1%, the nuclear fuel cycle -4.0% across nineteen names, copper -7.0% across seven — while the platforms that buy that capacity barely moved: Microsoft +0.2%, Alphabet +0.6%, Amazon -0.2%, Meta -1.4%. Nothing company-level explains the cloud lane. Not one of its ten members carries an event dated Thursday, and the only new corporate item points the other way — IREN closed its Mirantis acquisition. Volume did not confirm the move inside the lane either; eight of ten members traded below average volume, while the heavy prints sat elsewhere: Oracle 2.4×, Vertiv 2.3×, the oil fund 2.3×, the long bond 2.1×. Micron is the level that changed — at $979.91 it closed under the $989.96 flag ceiling its buy call requires, which returns that entry to wait.
What the news added was mostly retirement. Two Watches Retired on a Macro Day, published Thursday, closed the Danaher and Vertiv entry watches on levels rather than on company events: Danaher settled $200.53 against the $202.97 long average its call named, Vertiv $248.13 against $257.40 on 2.29× volume, the heaviest print in its block — and Vertiv's coverage has been failing since April, so that move stands unexplained rather than explained away. The cleanest print on the board belongs to AeroVironment: +4.5% on 5.9× average volume after fiscal first-quarter results, funded backlog up 37% to $1.5 billion, book-to-bill of 1.4 and a raised revenue outlook (Benzinga, September 10) — and it still sits 30.1% below its own 200-day average, down 25.0% on the month. Nothing on the social scans clears a second source.
Watch Friday: the August CPI report lands at 8:30 a.m. and the policy decision follows September 16, with crowd pricing on a hike at 63%. Three names printed after Thursday's bell. Oracle beat — non-GAAP EPS $1.92 against $1.74 expected, cloud infrastructure revenue more than doubled, the backlog grew again and the forecast went up (CNBC and MarketWatch, September 10). Adobe beat by four cents. RH cleared consensus by a factor of six on a day it fell 3.8% on 3.4× volume with a 10-Q on the wire. In the extended session — intraday quotes, not closes — Oracle was bid about 4% above its settled close, RH about 6.5% above, Adobe about 2.4% below, while Nebius, CoreWeave, Micron and SanDisk, none of which printed, kept drifting lower: two hours after the bell the read-through had not transmitted. $LPTH and $LAES print tonight. The trigger worth holding: a ten-year at 5.00%, or high-yield spreads at 3.50 points on two consecutive readings — the spread was 2.71%.

Iran-war read-through — +0.1%, 4 of 7 up; the tankers carried it ($FRO +2.5%, $STNG +1.8%), which is the oil move one layer down. Canadian oil & gas — flat at 0.0% median, 3 of 7 up, and still ranked leading on 30 days. Data-center fiber and high-speed cabling — -3.4%, 0 of 16 up. Lithium and battery metals — -3.7%, 0 of 6 up ($BHP -5.3%, $RIO -4.2%, $SQM -3.9%), and no same-day receipt on any of them. NAND flash memory — -4.1%, 0 of 5 up, ranked leading on 30 days — the month is strong, the day is not. Rare-earth miners and processors — -4.3%, 0 of 3 up ($MP -5.5%).

The desk's curated ETF read — one fund per lane it tracks, not every fund on the watchlists — grouped by what the fund is exposed to, and where each closed on the issue date. The big number and the tile's shade are that session's move (1D); 7D and 30D are the trailing windows behind it, and RSI is the 14-day reading (above 70 is stretched, below 30 washed out). Shades near flat stay gray — a ±0.25% day is not a color.

The desk's assessments cover 11 of 124 lanes. 6 authored assessments matched no lane (iran-war read-through, canadian oil & gas, data-center fiber and high-speed cabling, lithium and battery metals, nand flash memory, rare-earth miners and processors) — kept in the chapter text above.
5. The Wild & Whacky
- Navan beat and lost a fifth of its value. EPS $0.05 against $0.04 expected with a raised outlook, and the stock closed -21.8% at $20.26 on 7.9× average volume — its own coverage pins the selloff on a newly announced acquisition nobody could size, not on the quarter (The Motley Fool, September 10).
- Axogen fell 11.5% on 4.6× volume for buying something — a $200 million deal for BioCircuit, disclosed the same day. The acquirer paid twice.
- Skyworks closed +9.8% at RSI 80.3 on 2.0× volume — the most overbought print on the board on a day 844 of 1,115 names fell, and the only thing dated near it is an insider form, which is not a reason.
- An entire metal repriced with nobody's fingerprints on it. Copper's seven names fell 7.0% at the median with the fund at 3.3× volume, and current coverage does not exist for most of them — which is not the same as there being none.
6. What I'd Tell a Friend
The trend is not broken; the breadth is. The S&P 500 fund is 6.2% above its 200-day at RSI 44.1, and 45 of 124 lanes still closed at least 90% red.
This was a repricing of funding cost, not of AI demand. The names that borrow to build fell about 5%; the platforms that pay cash for the same capacity closed flat. Oracle's after-the-bell print — infrastructure revenue more than doubled, backlog up again — answers the demand question and says nothing about the financing one, which is the question that was actually asked today.
Levels, not feelings: Micron back above $989.96, SanDisk above $1,740, Coherent above $299.22 (it closed $293.17), IREN above $45.66 (closed $43.64), Meta above $665 (closed $644.38). Corning and Marvell have already cleared theirs at $154.59 and $224.58.
The condition that changes the regime is a ten-year at 5.00%, or high-yield spreads at 3.50 points on two consecutive readings. The spread is 2.71% and credit is still orderly — HYG -0.7%, LQD -1.1%, IEF -1.2% on the week — which is what separates positioning from a credit event.
One thing to watch: whether the cloud lane follows Oracle up on Friday. If it does, Thursday was a rates day. If Oracle rallies alone, the market is repricing every balance sheet that funds its own buildout, and the levels above stop being entries.

- Credit tape (7d): HYG -0.7% · LQD -1.1% · IEF -1.2% — the flush-vs-break discriminator: orderly credit means the selling is positioning, not a credit event.

A desk call is an authored stance from a published report; entry and invalidation conditions are human-read, and the full ledger lives at /calls.
30d vs SPY is the raw name-vs-SPY move since the call — for trim/sell calls a NEGATIVE number means the call worked (the name fell after it).

𝕏@ChurchillWw — Winston — Permian output nearly quadrupled on flat completion counts because laterals went from 6,149 ft to 10,867 ft · link- With Brent back over 100 dollars this week, the rig-count read on US supply response is the wrong instrument: completions have held near 6,000 a year since 2022 while output nearly quadrupled on lateral length alone. Cited to an EIA release, so it is checkable.
𝕏@mvcinvesting — M. V. Cunha — Nebius management at Goldman: demand visibility stretches to 24+ months, older GPUs stay economically relevant $NBIS $CRWV $PLTR $MSFT $META · link- A readback of named management statements on a focus-lane name: demand visibility moved from about 18 to 24-plus months, customers are booking capacity for the first half of 2028, and the GPU-obsolescence bear case gets a direct rebuttal (a waiting list for older-generation chips). 𝕏@aleabitoreddit — Serenity — HBM scarcity has pushed Chinese AI accelerator prices up 20-50% in two months $MU $SKHY · link- A checkable data point that memory tightness now shows up in downstream accelerator pricing, not only in DRAM contracts: Huawei's Ascend 950DT quoted 20-50% higher and Cambricon's 690 20-30% higher than two months ago. The author discloses a long memory position, and the Reuters grey-market claim is second-hand until…
𝕏@SemiAnalysis_ — SemiAnalysis — the AI trade's third derivative is ABF substrate equipment, chemistry and film, not the substrate makers · link- The cleanest physics-down chain captured this week: package bodies grew from 58x55mm on Hopper to about 95x98mm on Rubin and build-up layers from 10-14 to 24+, so wet-process steps, lamination steps and adhesion chemistry scale with substrate complexity rather than unit count. 𝕏@CKCapitalxx — CV Research via CK Capital — AI power loss scales with current squared, not watts, and one vendor transforms instead of switching $VICR · link- Reframes rack power in the unit that binds, amps rather than watts, and puts a number on it: moving the same chip's power at 48 volts instead of 6 cuts the loss 64-fold. First-half bookings of 414 million dollars against 211 million shipped says the constraint is the factory, not demand. Feeds the last-six-inches leg…
