AI hardware sold while software, security and nuclear power bought in the week to October 9: Arm, Intel and SK hynix each fell more than 12% after OpenAI's lower revenue figure hit chipmakers on October 8 (CNBC), Zscaler rose 18.89%, Constellation and Vistra rose more than 15%, and the three big US carriers fell 10% to 13% on Friday after SpaceX agreed to buy wireless spectrum (CNBC). Constellation's gain came on a Google nuclear deal and Vistra's on a reported federal loan. Four names now sit at RSI 70 or above: Palantir, Datadog, Zscaler and Fortinet. Verizon joined BCE in capitulation. Of the 69 names with a year of history, 45 trade above their 200-day. All 70 names carry a settled 2026-10-09 close.
LONG-HORIZON READ: if a name's short-term trend reads "down" but it trades above its 200-day average and is up on the year, it is a deep pullback in an intact trend, not a breakdown. Real structural damage takes both: a price under the 200-day and a weak or negative year. The 1Y and vs SMA200 columns carry that check.

| Caveat | Every name has a settled close. No news capture is dated October 9, and the per-name news pulls predate Friday, so most of Friday's moves have no cause on file. The carriers are the exception: CNBC reported the SpaceX deal after the October 8 close. SK hynix's US shares are too new for long-horizon columns |
What's Going On
The hardware cohort gave back. Arm fell 13.4% over seven days and is now 41.18% off its high. It lost 2.71% on October 7. On October 8 it lost 6.48%, the day Morgan Stanley kept its Equal-weight rating while raising its target to $212 (Benzinga) and the OpenAI report hit the group. It lost another 3.27% on Friday; its news was last pulled October 8, so Friday's cause is not on file. Arm still sits 21% above its 200-day and is up 56.03% on the year, a deep pullback in an intact trend. Intel fell 12.26% on the week. The decline began October 5, when Elon Musk said talks with TSMC on his Terafab chip project are ongoing (MarketWatch). Intel still sits 26.1% above its 200-day and is up 176.98% on the year. SK hynix's US shares (SKHY), listed in July and too new for a 200-day, fell 13.38%. On October 8, StockAnalysis, citing Investopedia, reported that Samsung's disappointing preliminary results had cooled the memory trade. NVIDIA (−2%), AMD (−4.07%), TSMC (−4.12%) and ASML (−4.66%) fell less, and all four remain at least 13% above their 200-days. AMD hit fresh highs on October 6; CNBC credited AI agents lifting CPU sales. Broadcom made two closes back above its 200-day on October 6–7, then lost it on October 8, and sits 1.8% under it.
Memory and storage split by trend; the neocloud held its shelf. Micron fell 4.27% and sits 46.6% above its 200-day, up 435.02% on the year. Western Digital is the break: down 4.34% on the week and 17.62% on the month, it closed 2.1% under its 200-day. On October 6 it fell again over Toshiba's expansion plans (The Motley Fool, as cited in that day's market brief). A one-year gain of 231.9% means the long trend is under test, not finished. Seagate fell 7.77% and still sits 18% above its 200-day. Optical held up: Lumentum rose 1.65% and sits 44.4% above its 200-day, while Coherent fell 7.25%. Nebius, the one neocloud on this board, fell 8.95% to $221.07. That is just above the $219.70 shelf named in the October 5–8 market briefs, 28.9% above its 200-day and up 66.67% on the year: a deep pullback in an intact trend.
Software and security took the money. Zscaler rose 18.89% on the week, 7.8% of it on Friday, to RSI 72.9 and 40.8% above its 200-day. Its year is still −25.85%, so its trend is repairing, not established. On Friday, Snowflake rose 7.42%, Datadog 7.11%, Cloudflare 5.57%, Palantir 5.17%, Palo Alto 5.09% and CrowdStrike 4.57%. None of these causes is on file. The news for these names was last pulled October 8 or earlier, no capture is dated October 9, and the stock-events calendar has nothing on them for the date. Zscaler filed an 8-K on October 6, but its text is not in the corpus. Palantir has the highest RSI on the board at 76.3, with Datadog at 73.4 and Fortinet at 72.7. Microsoft rose 3.39% to $535.07, just under the $535.69 base pivot named in the October 8 market brief.
Nuclear power repaired; the carriers broke. Constellation rose 15.76% on the week, including 12.25% on October 6 after a Google agreement that MarketWatch said equals a new reactor's output. Vistra rose 15.33%, including 10.77% that day on a reported $4.2 billion Department of Energy loan commitment. The Motley Fool reported the loan, as cited in the October 6 market brief; no DOE release is on file. Both are back above their 200-days (4.2% and 4.4%) but down more than 22% on the year: repairing trends. Vistra closed below the $166.15 pivot that its October 6 deep dive named. The carriers went the other way. On Friday, AT&T fell 10.82%, Verizon 10.14% and T-Mobile 13.27%, their first full session after SpaceX agreed on October 8 to buy Grain Management's 800 MHz spectrum, subject to FCC approval, to push Starlink deeper into the US telecommunications market (CNBC). All three closed under their 200-days, at RSI 25.9, 21.8 and 29.1. BCE fell 5.91% to RSI 17.1, the lowest reading on the board. BCE is Canadian, its news was last pulled September 19 and no October 9 capture names it, so its cause is not on file. Solar, the small-reactor developers (NuScale, Oklo), Eos Energy and the quantum names remain below their 200-days and down on the year. Eos fell 21.5% on the week; two stock-news items on October 8 (Timothy Sykes; StocksToTrade) cite a securities-litigation investigation and heavy cash burn.
What Changed Since Prior Scan
Prior edition: 2026-10-02. That edition's numbers are not reprinted. The points below compare its stated bands and lists with the 2026-10-09 summary, whose 7-day window starts at the October 2 close.
- The RSI 70+ band turned over. On October 2 it held AMD, TSMC and Datadog. Now it holds Palantir, Datadog, Zscaler and Fortinet; AMD and TSMC cooled into the 50s.
- The capitulation band grew from one name to two. BCE was alone on October 2; Verizon joined it after the SpaceX spectrum deal.
- Leadership moved from hardware to software and power. Optical and chip equipment led on October 2 (Lumentum, Coherent, ASML). This week's leaders are Zscaler, Constellation, Vistra and Palantir, and its laggards are Eos, Arm, SK hynix and Intel.
- The 200-day count rose to 45 above and 24 below, from 44 and 25. Constellation, Vistra and TransAlta (TAC) crossed above. Western Digital and IonQ fell below.
- Telecom went from soft to broken. On October 2 the carriers were negative on the week. All three US carriers are now below their 200-days after a double-digit Friday drop on the SpaceX news.
- A correction. The October 2 edition called SKHY a new fund. It is SK hynix's Nasdaq-listed ADR, listed in July 2026, which is why it has no 200-day yet.
How To Read The Board
RSI below 25 is capitulation. RSI 25–40 is oversold, and it means little without the long-horizon columns: Western Digital and Verizon are oversold with positive years, while most of the oversold names are down 45% or more on the year. RSI 40–70 is neutral to healthy; 70 and above is extended. "vs SMA" is the distance from the 20-day average, a short-term positioning read only. "1Y%" and "vs SMA200" show whether the trend is intact. The Signal column labels each row: intact (above the 200-day, up on the year), repairing (above the 200-day, down on the year), under test (below the 200-day, up on the year) or broken (below the 200-day, down on the year). A low RSI on a speculative or pre-profit name is not a setup. Everything here is raw screen evidence from settled prices; none of it is a setup until a level is named and holds. The tables show 7-day, 30-day and one-year changes ending at the 2026-10-09 close.

Tier Analysis
| Tier | Names | Read |
|---|---|---|
| Capitulation (RSI under 25) | VZ, BCE | Both below their 200-days. Verizon is still up on the year, so its trend is under test; BCE is broken. Neither is a setup until price stops falling |
| Oversold (RSI 25–40) | SOUN, BBAI, RGTI, EOSE, FSLR, RUN, SMR, OKLO, WDC, T, TMUS, QBTS | All below their 200-days. Only Western Digital is up on the year; the rest are broken trends in quantum, solar, small reactors, batteries and telecom |
| Neutral and healthy (RSI 40–70) | NVDA, AMD, AVGO, MRVL, ARM, SMCI, QCOM, INTC, TSM, ASML, AMZN, MSFT, GOOGL, META, TSLA, AI, SNOW, MDB, PATH, CRM, NOW, ADBE, WDAY, IONQ, ISRG, TEM, VEEV, TAC, NET, BE, ENPH, SEDG, CEG, VST, NEE, MU, STX, EQIX, DLR, ANET, CSCO, CRWD, PANW, SKM, SMH, BOTZ, ROBO, AIQ, SKHY, LITE, COHR, NBIS | Most of the board. Arm, Intel and Nebius sit in the soft 40s but well above their 200-days |
| Extended (RSI 70+) | PLTR, DDOG, ZS, FTNT | Strong runs. Zscaler is extended on a trend still down on the year |
Entry Zones
Each level marks where a pullback stays a flag or turns into a break. These are conditions to watch, not orders.
| Stock | Zone / level | Confirmation | Thesis |
|---|---|---|---|
| NBIS | $219.70 shelf up to 20-day $229.37 | Holds the shelf, then closes back above the 20-day; below it, the 200-day $171.46 is the next line | Deep pullback in an intact trend |
| ARM | 200-day $220.11 floor; 20-day $288.93 | A close back above the 20-day | Deep pullback in an intact trend, 41% off its high |
| INTC | 50-day $103.08 | Holds the 50-day | Pullback after a triple-digit year |
| MU | 50-day $976.19 up to 20-day $1038.26 | A reclaim of the 20-day | Memory leader; intact trend |
| WDC | 200-day $405.9 | A close back above the 200-day | Long trend under test after the Toshiba-related drops |
| AVGO | 200-day $368.28 | A week of closes above the 200-day | Two closes above it on October 6–7 did not hold |
| VST | $166.15 pivot; 200-day $154.74 beneath | A retest that holds the 200-day, then a close back above $166.15 | Repairing trend; year still negative |
| CEG | 200-day $286.14 | Stays above the 200-day | Repairing after the Google deal |
| PLTR | 20-day $187 | A pullback toward the 20-day that holds | Extended; poor risk/reward at RSI 76 |
Action Matrix
| Stock | Signal | Action | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| NVDA, TSM, ASML, AMD | 🟢 | 🔒 Hold | Intact trends, mild pullbacks; ASML is scheduled to report October 14 and TSMC October 15 |
| MU, STX, LITE, ANET, CRWD, PANW, NET | 🟢 | 🔒 Hold | Above their 200-days and up on the year |
| ARM, INTC | 🟡 | 🔍 Watch | Deep pullbacks in intact trends; need a turn back up through the 20-day |
| NBIS | 🟡 | 🔍 Watch | On the $219.70 shelf; the neocloud level that matters |
| SKHY | 🟡 | 🔍 Watch | No long-horizon history; SK hynix is expected to report October 27 (provider estimate) |
| WDC, AVGO | 🟡 | ⏳ Waiting | Below their 200-days with positive years; a reclaim is needed |
| CEG, VST | 🟡 | 🔍 Watch | Repairing above their 200-days; years still negative |
| PLTR, DDOG, ZS, FTNT | 🟠 | ⚠️ Caution | RSI 70+; Friday's gains have no cause on file |
| T, VZ, TMUS, BCE | 🔴 | ⏳ Waiting | Below their 200-days after the SpaceX news; low RSI is not a floor before the FCC process plays out |
| SMR, OKLO, EOSE, RUN, SOUN, BBAI, QBTS, RGTI | 🔴 | ❌ Avoid | Business-quality veto: pre-revenue, pre-profit or lottery-like names, all below their 200-days with deep losses on the year |
| ADBE, TSLA, ISRG | 🔴 | ⏳ Waiting | Below their 200-days and down on the year; Intuitive Surgical's 8.17% week is a bounce, not a repair |
What To Watch Next
- The carriers and the FCC. The FCC is scheduled to vote October 29 on seeking comment on 482 MHz more spectrum for coverage from space (CNBC, as cited in the October 8 market brief). Do AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile stabilize before then? Does a cause surface for BCE?
- The chip reports. ASML is scheduled to report October 14 and TSMC October 15. Do NVIDIA, TSMC and ASML hold their 20-day averages after the OpenAI selloff, and does Arm turn back up through its own?
- Nebius's $219.70 shelf. A close below it puts the 200-day in play; a close back above the 20-day restarts the flag.
- Memory. Can Western Digital reclaim its 200-day? SK hynix is expected to report October 27 (provider estimate) as the first read after Samsung's preliminary results.
- Friday's software surge. Does a cause surface for Zscaler, Snowflake, Datadog and Palantir, and do the RSI 70+ names cool by pulling in rather than breaking?
- Power. Can Vistra and Constellation stay above their 200-days, and can Vistra retake its $166.15 pivot?
- Scheduled prints. Tesla on October 21; Microsoft and Alphabet on October 28; Amazon and Cloudflare on October 29.
