Semiconductors and optical networking led a broad risk-on week in AI hardware while AI power, quantum and telecom stayed weak: Lumentum (LITE) and Coherent (COHR) jumped 15.27% and 13.93% over seven days, TSMC and AMD joined Datadog above RSI 70, and the Seagate/Western Digital pair each fell about 10% in a single session on Friday after MarketWatch (October 2) reported investor worry that Toshiba will raise output of a key AI storage product. Cybersecurity added to its recent run (CRWD 7.1%, PANW 7.61% on the week). Against that, Broadcom is the one chip leader still below its 200-day, MongoDB fell 12.79% on the week, and the nuclear-SMR and quantum groups remain deep in damage territory. Settled close 2026-10-02 for all 70 names.

LONG-HORIZON READ: a name whose short-window trend flag reads "down" but sits above its 200-day average with a positive one-year change is a deep pullback in an intact trend, never a breakdown. Only price below the 200-day paired with a weak or negative year is real structural damage. The 1Y and vs SMA200 columns carry that check.

Quick Snapshot

Signal Reading
Overall 🟢 Hardware, optical and security trends are strong and extended in places; power, quantum, solar and telecom are weak and mostly below their 200-days
Leaders LITE (7D 15.27%, 1Y 539.42%), COHR (7D 13.93%), ASML (7D 7.07%), CRWD and PANW (7D 7.1% and 7.61%)
Laggards MDB (7D -12.79%), TEM (7D -9.86%), WDC and STX (1D -10.22% and -10.21%), QCOM (7D -8.47%), QBTS (7D -9.42%), RGTI (7D -8.46%)
Extended (RSI 70+) AMD, TSM, DDOG
Capitulation (RSI under 25) BCE — BCE is the board's only print, with RSI 18.2 and a year of -15.07%
Caveat Fresh 2026-10-02 close on every name. Several news receipts are older than the moves they would need to explain (details under What's Going On); those names read "news not pulled for this move", not "no news"

What's Going On

The AI hardware chain extended. NVIDIA (RSI 62.9) is 16.6% above its 200-day with a 1-year gain of 23.86%; TSMC (RSI 71.5) and AMD (RSI 70.1) are the two semis above 70, ASML gained 7.07% on the week, and Arm rose 5.18% on Friday alone. The SMH semiconductor fund is 14.55% higher over thirty days. Broadcom is the exception worth naming: RSI 47.6, -3.4% against its 200-day (about 367.5 is the line) and 28.25% off its high, while its one-year change is only 5.02% — a trend still under test while its peers run. Qualcomm gave back 8.47% on the week; news pulled 2026-10-03 carries only a MarketBeat item (October 1) tying that day's 1.1% dip to CEO Cristiano Amon's sale of 10,000 shares and the dividend announcement, nothing on the rest of the week, and stock-events has no October entry, so the weekly slide's cause is unknown.

Optical was the week's sharpest winner: Lumentum rose 15.27% on seven days and sits 0.57% under its high, Coherent added 13.93%. News for both was pulled 2026-10-03 with no item on the move, and stock-events carries no entry. The only driver on file is a carried claim: several X accounts on October 1 relayed a Morgan Stanley note saying Washington is discussing restrictions on Chinese 3.2T optical transceivers, potentially as soon as October (attributed to Morgan Stanley via X, not checked against the note). Memory is split: Micron stays 57.7% above its 200-day, but Seagate and Western Digital fell 10.21% and 10.22% on Friday. MarketWatch (October 2) tied the drop to investor worry that Toshiba will boost production of a key AI storage product, threatening the pricing power both companies enjoy; an X post the same day relayed Rosenblatt defending Seagate on the view that Toshiba's Philippine expansion lands closer to 2030 (carried claim). The news pulls of 2026-10-03 add nothing further; stock-events was checked with no entry. Both stay above their 200-day with triple-digit one-year gains (233.28% and 216.39%), so this is a sharp pullback inside intact trends — Western Digital's cushion is thin at 3.8%.

Software is mixed and security is the strong pocket. CrowdStrike, Palo Alto and Fortinet are all 60+ RSI and 50%+ above their 200-days; Datadog (RSI 70.6) is extended. MongoDB fell 12.79% on the week to RSI 43.5 (news pulled 2026-10-03, no item on the move; stock-events and the October 1-2 captures checked; cause unknown) while remaining 4.4% above its 200-day. Adobe is genuinely damaged: below its 200-day with a year of -32.37%. Tempus AI fell 9.86% on the week from a strong month; news pulled 2026-10-03 shows no item on the move and stock-events was checked, so the cause is unknown.

Hyperscalers are quiet: Meta fell 3.14% on the week after a 22.81% 30-day gain; Microsoft and Alphabet are flat; Tesla rose 4.65% on Friday after MarketWatch (October 2) reported quarterly deliveries well above Wall Street's expectations, but stays below its 200-day. CNBC (October 1) reported Google unveiling its latest AI model with Wall Street wanting a personal-agent breakout; that item is context, not a measured cause of any price move here.

AI power, quantum and telecom stayed weak. NuScale (SMR) is -80.38% on the year and 86.5% under its high; Oklo, Eos, Rigetti, D-Wave, SoundHound and BigBear.ai all trade deeply below their 200-days with year losses beyond 45%. Constellation (CEG) is -10.5% against its 200-day with a 30-day change of -11.22%. Bloom Energy is the exception: 33.08% over thirty days and 39.4% above its 200-day. Telecom is soft: AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and BCE are all negative on the week; BCE (RSI 18.2) is the capitulation print, and its news receipt of 2026-09-19 carries only a generic stock-drop item, so the cause is unknown.

How To Read The Board

RSI below 25 is capitulation. RSI 25-40 is oversold, and needs the long-horizon columns before it means anything: several names here are oversold while still above their 200-day. RSI 40-70 is neutral-to-healthy; 70 and above is extended. "vs SMA" is distance from the 20-day average, a short-term positioning read only. "1Y%" and "vs SMA200" answer whether the trend is intact. Everything here is raw screen evidence from settled prices; none of it is a setup until a level is named and held. Percentages in the tables are 7-day, 30-day and one-year changes ending at the 2026-10-02 close. SKHY is a new fund with no one-year or 200-day history, so its long-horizon cells are blank.

What To Watch Next

  1. Do Seagate and Western Digital hold their 50- and 200-day lines after Friday's ~10% single-session drops, and does the Toshiba output worry MarketWatch reported on October 2 fade or build?
  2. Does Broadcom reclaim its 200-day while peers stay extended?
  3. Does optical (LITE, COHR) consolidate after a double-digit week, or give it back?
  4. Do AMD, TSMC and Datadog cool from RSI 70+ by pulling in rather than breaking?
  5. Do quantum and nuclear-SMR names bottom, or does the year-to-date slide continue?
