Starbucks posted the largest RSI gain in the book, up 5.3 points to 31.6, and its 200-day gap narrowed for the first time after three straight scans of widening — a real pause in the deterioration the desk flagged twice running. Tesla gave back most of the alpha improvement it showed last scan, falling 5.3 RSI points as its 200-day gap widened again. BellRing Brands remains the worst name on every window, still deepening despite a small bounce today.

Numbers are the settled September 25 close for all 8 names, two trading sessions after the September 23 scan. Comparison baseline is the September 23 scan.

Quick Snapshot

Signal Reading
Overall 🟡 A mixed scan: 3 of 8 names gained RSI, led by Starbucks' first sign of stabilization after three scans of deterioration; Tesla gave back most of its recent gain
Leaders Tesla (RSI 55.3, still the second-highest in the book despite this scan's decline), Crocs (58.5, the book's only clean horizon story), Hims & Hers (51.3, recovering from its crash)
Laggards BellRing Brands (RSI 25.8, still the worst name on every window), Domino's (31.8), Starbucks (31.6, but improving)
The horizon check Only Crocs remains positive on both trailing-year return and alpha; Starbucks' 200-day gap narrowed to -3.7% from -4.3%, the first improvement in three scans
Caveat BellRing's litigation item is now three weeks old; Hims's is over a week old; neither explains this scan's price action

What's Going On

Starbucks showed its first sign of stabilization after three consecutive scans of deterioration. Its RSI rose 5.3 points to 31.6, the largest gain in the book, and its position relative to its 200-day narrowed to -3.7% from -4.3% — a small improvement, but the first one since the desk began flagging the widening gap two scans ago. Trailing-year alpha also ticked up to -4.06 from -5.91. The name remains below its 200-day and negative on alpha, so this is a pause in the slide rather than a reclaim, but it breaks a pattern that had held for three straight readings.

Tesla moved the other direction, giving back most of the improvement flagged last scan. Its RSI fell 5.3 points to 55.3 — the largest decline in the book — and its 200-day gap widened back to -5.9% from -4.1%, while trailing-year alpha reversed to -29.33 from -26.51. The single-scan alpha improvement the desk noted last time did not carry through a second scan.

BellRing Brands remains the worst name in this book on every measure. Despite a 2.86% bounce today, its trailing week is still down 11.92% and its trailing year is down 78.41%, with alpha at -95.63, worse than -92.72 last scan. Its position relative to its 200-day widened further to -49.7%. The Rosen Law Firm item cited two scans ago is now three weeks old and still the newest thing in its news receipt — it explains an ongoing overhang, not this scan's specific moves.

Hims & Hers recovered part of its September 23 crash: RSI climbed 3.9 points to 51.3 and the stock is 6.0% above its 200-day, up from 1.9% two scans ago. Trailing-year alpha stayed deeply negative at -63.6, essentially unchanged from -65.08. Its news receipt is still centered on the September 17 litigation item, now over a week old, with nothing newer explaining the bounce.

What Changed Since Prior Scan

  • SBUX: RSI 26.3 → 31.6 (+5.3), the largest gain; its 200-day gap narrowed from -4.3% to -3.7% and alpha improved from -5.91 to -4.06 — the first improvement after three straight scans of deterioration.
  • HIMS: RSI 47.4 → 51.3 (+3.9); CROX 56.7 → 58.5 (+1.8).
  • TSLA: RSI 60.6 → 55.3 (-5.3), the largest decline, reversing last scan's alpha improvement (-29.33 from -26.51) and widening its 200-day gap back to -5.9% from -4.1%.
  • BRBR: RSI 26.4 → 25.8 (-0.6), still deepening on every longer window despite a positive single-day move today; NKE 36.6 → 35.0 (-1.6); LULU 43.0 → 41.9 (-1.1); DPZ 33.6 → 31.8 (-1.8).
  • The positive-alpha group is unchanged at one name: Crocs (+47.35, up from +43.69 last scan) remains the only one positive on both trailing year and alpha.

How To Read The Board

Starbucks is the name whose direction actually changed this scan, and it changed for the better after three consecutive scans of the opposite. The 200-day gap narrowing from -4.3% to -3.7% and alpha ticking up from -5.91 to -4.06 are both small moves, but they break a three-scan pattern of the same name deteriorating on every axis — worth one more scan of confirmation before calling it a real stabilization rather than noise.

Tesla's reversal argues for the same caution in the other direction: last scan's alpha improvement, the first after three scans of decline, did not survive a second scan. Treat single-scan improvements in either direction as unconfirmed until they repeat.

Crocs remains the one name passing every check the desk runs, and its move continues without a dated catalyst — the same open question as two scans ago. BellRing continues to be the name furthest from any of this: worst on every window, still deepening, and now three weeks past its last dated news item.

Tier Analysis

Capitulation (RSI below 25): none, though BellRing (25.8) sits just above the line.

Oversold (RSI 25-40) — 4 names: BRBR (25.8, thesis broken), SBUX (31.6, improving but still below its 200-day), DPZ (31.8), NKE (35.0). None of the four carries positive trailing-year alpha.

Neutral to strong (RSI 40+) — 4 names: LULU (41.9), HIMS (51.3), TSLA (55.3), CROX (58.5).

Entry Zones

Stock Entry zone Condition
CROX $118-126 (at or above its 20-day) The only name above its 200-day with positive trailing-year alpha; still no dated cause for its continued run
SBUX $95-100 (below its 20-day) Oversold at RSI 31.6, with the 200-day gap narrowing for the first time in three scans — reclaiming the average remains the condition
HIMS $28-29 (near its 200-day) Recovering from its crash, now 6.0% above its 200-day; alpha -63.6 means the long record does not support a bounce thesis
LULU, NKE, DPZ, BRBR not zones All below their 200-day with deeply negative trailing-year alpha; low RSI here is damage, not discount

What To Watch Next

Watch Why it matters
Whether Starbucks' stabilization continues First improvement in three scans; needs a second confirming scan before it's more than a pause
Whether Tesla's alpha reversal is the real trend or another single-scan noise reading Improved last scan, reversed this scan — two data points in opposite directions in a row
What drives Crocs' continued run Still the only clean horizon story in the book, still with no dated cause
BellRing's litigation overhang Now three weeks old with no fresher development; the stock keeps deteriorating regardless
Whether Hims & Hers' recovery holds Bounced back above its 200-day; alpha remains deeply negative
Domino's next disclosure Still nothing dated explaining this book's recent moves for this name

The Gold

Key Discoveries

Discovery Implication
Starbucks stabilized for the first time after three straight scans of deterioration The 200-day gap narrowed and alpha improved together — worth a second confirming scan before calling it a real turn
Tesla's alpha improvement from last scan reversed completely A single-scan uptick after three scans of decline did not hold
BellRing's litigation item is now three weeks stale and the stock keeps deteriorating anyway The overhang and the ongoing decline may be related, but the receipt cannot confirm a same-day cause

Mistakes (Don't Repeat)

Mistake Lesson
Treating a single-scan alpha improvement as a trend Tesla's uptick last scan reversed by this scan — one data point is not a reversal
Reading a small bounce as a change in trajectory BellRing's 2.86% single-day gain sits inside a week down 11.92% and a year down 78.41%

Open Questions

  • Does Starbucks' stabilization continue into a genuine reclaim, or was this scan's improvement noise?
  • Does Tesla's alpha keep worsening, or does this scan's reversal itself reverse next time?
  • What, if anything, is still driving BellRing's decline three weeks past its last dated news item?
