The compact AI-infrastructure board fell across the week to Friday, October 16: not one of its 11 names rose, and Everpure lost 19.73%, Marvell 17.24%, Arm 14.45%, Palantir 11.01% and the semiconductor ETF (SMH) 10.53%. Seven names are now in the oversold band after none were there on October 9, and the two names that were extended last week, Everpure and Palantir, cooled to RSI in the mid-40s. Ten of 11 still trade above their 200-day averages; TransAlta slipped just under. All 11 names carry a settled 2026-10-16 close.

LONG-HORIZON READ: if a name's short-term trend reads "down" but it trades above its 200-day average and is up on the year, it is a deep pullback in an intact trend, not a breakdown. Real structural damage takes both: a price under the 200-day and a weak or negative year. The 1Y and vs SMA200 columns carry that check.

Quick Snapshot

Signal Reading
Overall 🟡 A uniform pullback in ten intact trends. The risk is the thin cushion in the large chips (NVIDIA, TSMC, ASML and Arm sit 2% to 6% above their 200-days), not the Everpure and Palantir reset
Leaders (7D) TAC -2.13%, AMZN -4.74%, NVDA -6.61%, AIQ -6.88%, ASML -7.8% (the least-bad names; none rose)
Laggards (7D) P -19.73%, MRVL -17.24%, ARM -14.45%, PLTR -11.01%, SMH -10.53%
Extended (RSI 70+) none
Caveat Every name has a settled close. Moves are described, not explained. Everpure's news was last pulled October 9 and TransAlta's last pull failed (a rate-limit error on 2026-04-29), so neither name's week was checked for a cause

What's Going On

Every name but one fell on Friday, and none rose on the week. TransAlta (+1.5%) was the only gainer on Friday. SMH fell 10.53% on the week and 3.41% on Friday, on 2.52 times its normal volume; the AI ETF (AIQ) fell 6.88% on the week and 3.23% on Friday, on 3.12 times. The board's nine operating companies and two funds split into seven oversold names (NVIDIA, ASML, TSMC, Marvell, Arm, AIQ and SMH, all RSI 31 to 38) and four in the neutral band (Amazon, TransAlta, Palantir, Everpure). Bloomberg's Friday close report tied the S&P 500's week to worries about the viability of the AI trade pressuring chipmakers, and CNBC's October 15 report on the global hardware sell-off cited AI funding worries. Those are the sources' framings, not a cause traced for any single name.

The large chips: intact but with thin cushions. NVIDIA fell 6.61% to $214.13, RSI 37.5; it is 5.5% above its 200-day ($202.97) and up 17.78% on the year, with an alpha of 2.24 points against SPY, the weakest long trend among the large chips. TSMC fell 8.98% to $412.61 and ASML 7.8% to $1,641.52; they sit 4.4% and 4.1% above their 200-days and are up 37.61% and 61% on the year. ASML reported on October 14 and TSMC on October 15, each with provider-reported EPS above consensus (October 15 market brief), and both ended the week lower. Arm fell 14.45% and is 49.68% off its high, with only 1.9% above its 200-day ($223.44) and a one-year gain of 33.07%. Marvell fell 17.24% but is still 29.6% above its 200-day and up 158.22% on the year, the strongest one-year trend on the board.

Everpure and Palantir gave the stretch back. Everpure fell 19.73% on the week and 7.04% on Friday, on only 0.45 times its normal volume, to RSI 45.6. It is still up 27.05% over 30 days, 50.3% above its 200-day and up 34.91% on the year, so this is a reset inside an intact trend. Its news was last pulled October 9, before the week, so the cause was not checked. Palantir fell 11.01% (7.22% on Friday) to RSI 46.3. It is 21.9% above its 200-day but up only 4.44% on the year, with an alpha of −11.09 points: the thinnest trend among the intact names.

Amazon held its line; TransAlta lost its own. Amazon fell 4.74% to $250.00, RSI 45, 3% above its 200-day ($242.73) and up 16.57% on the year, just above the $242 to $247 retest zone that the October briefs named. TransAlta fell 2.13% and closed 0.5% under its 200-day ($12.92) with the year at −24.23%, so its trend reads broken, but only just.

What Changed Since Prior Scan

Prior edition: October 9. That edition's numbers are not reprinted. The points below compare its stated bands and lists with the October 16 close; the 7-day window starts at the October 9 close.

  1. The RSI 70+ band emptied. Everpure and Palantir, extended last week, are both at RSI in the mid-40s.
  2. The oversold band went from empty to seven names. Last week no name was under RSI 40.
  3. The all-above-200-day streak ended. All 11 were above their lines on October 9; TransAlta, the one that had just crossed back over, slipped under. Ten of 11 remain above.
  4. Leadership collapsed. Palantir, Everpure and TransAlta led last week; this week none of the 11 rose, Everpure and Palantir are two of the five weakest, and TransAlta is the least-bad name.
  5. Arm and Marvell went from flat-and-fine to the weak end. Arm was the board's deep-pullback name last week and is now joined by Marvell, which held up on October 9.
  6. ASML and TSMC have now reported. Both were scheduled last week; each printed provider-reported EPS above consensus, and each ended the week lower.

How To Read The Board

RSI below 25 is capitulation. RSI 25–40 is oversold, and it means little without the long-horizon columns. RSI 40–70 is neutral; 70 and above is extended, and above 80 is overbought. "vs SMA" is the distance from the 20-day average, a short-term positioning read only. "1Y%" and "vs SMA200" show whether the trend is intact. The Signal column labels each row: intact (above the 200-day, up on the year), repairing (above the 200-day, down on the year), under test (below the 200-day, up on the year) or broken (below the 200-day, down on the year), plus the RSI band when it is not neutral. This board holds nine operating companies plus two funds, AIQ and SMH. TransAlta (TAC) is a Canadian power producer (hydro, wind, solar, batteries and gas), not a nuclear name. Everything here is raw screen evidence from settled prices; none of it is a setup until a level is named and holds. The table shows 7-day, 30-day and one-year changes ending at the 2026-10-16 close.

What To Watch Next

  1. The chip 200-days. NVIDIA at $202.97, TSMC at $395.05, ASML at $1,577.22 and Arm at $223.44: a close under any of them turns a pullback into a test.
  2. SMH's 200-day. The fund sits above its line ($511.35) after the heaviest week on the board; a close under it would put the fund's long trend under test.
  3. Marvell's 50-day. Does the strongest one-year trend on the board reclaim it?
  4. Everpure's base. Does it hold its 50-day on light volume, or keep falling?
  5. Scheduled prints. Amazon on October 29, Palantir on November 2 and TransAlta on November 3 (earnings calendar; scheduled, not confirmed).
