IRDM — candidate.roundup

Update

IRDM — candidate.roundup

Reason: Space fell as a lane again: $RKLB (down 25.47%), $ASTS (down 20.23%) and $LUNR (down 18.27%) each lost a fifth or more in the week to Friday, October 16, and sit 37.4%, 49.2% and 46.5% under their 200-days. An X post of October 15 attributes Rocket Lab's drop to a delay in its Neutron rocket (single source; a Rocket Lab 8-K of October 14 is on file, unread), and MarketWatch reported on October 13 an analyst warning that launch problems and SpaceX's wireless plans could delay AST SpaceMobile's rollout. $IRDM fell 7.82%, but it is being acquired by Rocket Lab and trades on deal terms, so its chart is not a trend read.

As of 2026-10-16. Status reads the 200-day trend first and RSI second; Action is a trend-hold lens: an extended name is never an entry, and a name below its 200-day with a negative year is not a dip.

What Changed Since 2026-10-09

  • RKLB: down 25.47% on the week (7.98% on Friday) to RSI 25.4, 37.4% under its 200-day ($81.26), 66.33% under its high, on a −24.12% year with alpha −39.65 points; the long-trend read stays rated broken. An X post by Kaizen Investor on October 15 puts the drop down to a Neutron delay, with the first flight pushed to late 2027 (single source; no company release on file). A Rocket Lab 8-K was filed October 14, contents unread, and its news was last pulled September 26.
  • ASTS: down 20.23% (8.55% on Friday, after 8.53% on October 13) to RSI 29.1, 49.2% under its 200-day ($79.97) and 69.62% under its high, on a −54.57% year. MarketWatch (October 13) reported an analyst warning that launch problems and SpaceX's wireless plans could delay its commercial rollout. News pulled October 14 is quote pages and an aggregator note on a securities class-action deadline and insider selling; nothing dated to Friday.
  • LUNR: down 18.27% (6.83% on Friday) to RSI 30.9, 46.5% under its 200-day ($20.14) and 76.94% under its high, on a −8.88% year with alpha −24.41 points. News was last pulled September 26, so not pulled for this move; cause not on file.
  • IRDM: down 7.82% to RSI 27.5, still 13.7% above its 200-day ($38.47) on a +133.76% year. Correction to the October 9 roundup, which read Iridium as the lane's one intact long trend: Iridium holders approved the sale to Rocket Lab on September 24 at $27 in cash plus Rocket Lab stock, with a mid-2027 close expected (Iridium 8-K as summarized in the September 25 space report and the October 13 market brief; the second-quarter results release in the October 16 news pull repeats the timetable). Its price therefore follows Rocket Lab's shares and the deal terms, which explains why it fell with RKLB; it is not a trend candidate. It is listed to report October 22.
  • Group read: the October 13 market brief had space 0 of 11 up, down 13.8% over seven sessions. SpaceX's 800 MHz spectrum purchase (CNBC, October 8) and the FCC vote scheduled for October 29 on seeking comment on more spectrum for coverage from space (CNBC, per the October 9 roundup) remain the lane's reference events. Roster unchanged since October 9.

Watch

Nothing in the lane has an intact trend to defend: ASTS $79.97, RKLB $81.26 and LUNR $20.14 are far overhead. Iridium's October 22 report and the FCC's October 29 vote are the dated items; Rocket Lab's price is the one to watch for Iridium.
