Supply Chain Traces Scan
Supply Chain Traces Scan
All 12 names closed green on Friday, led by Wolfspeed (+13.19%, now RSI 70.6 after a 27.97% week), Elmet Group (+8.75%) and Teradyne (+8%). The semiconductor-equipment half of the book is at or near overbought (Keysight RSI 74, Wolfspeed 70.6, Kulicke & Soffa 69.9, Teradyne 69.6, ASE 69), while the materials half is where the damage sits: Carpenter Technology is the only name under RSI 30 (28.2), and MP Materials and Teledyne are the only two with negative trailing-year alpha, down from three a week ago because Wolfspeed's alpha turned positive (27.89).
Numbers are the settled October 2 close for all 12 names (Friday), one week after the September 25 scan. Elmet Group (ELMT) still carries no 200-day or trailing-year comparison (too-young regime). Comparison baseline is the September 25 scan.
Quick Snapshot
| Signal | Reading |
|---|---|
| Overall | 🟢 12 of 12 closed green; six of 11 names with 200-day data are below it (from seven on September 25); two names with negative trailing-year alpha (from three) |
| Leaders | Keysight (RSI 74, -0.85% from its high), Wolfspeed (70.6), Kulicke & Soffa (69.9), Teradyne (69.6), ASE Technology ASX (69) |
| Laggards | Carpenter Technology (RSI 28.2, -12% vs its 200-day), Almonty (42, 30-day change -24.25%), MP Materials (41.6) |
| The horizon check | Below the 200-day: Kennametal, Carpenter, MP, Teledyne, Amkor, Almonty. Negative alpha: MP Materials (-48.81) and Teledyne (-8.99). Carpenter and Almonty are under the line with strongly positive alpha (42.3, 102.88) |
| Caveat | Wolfspeed's, Elmet's and Teradyne's single-day jumps are cause unknown; Elmet's news pull dates to September 19 and Teradyne's to September 15, so neither covers the move. News was re-pulled 2026-10-03 for Wolfspeed only, with no item on the move; the other receipts predate October 2, so news was not pulled for those moves. The stock-event files were checked (only Nike's October 1 earnings and Corteva's October 1 spin-off are filed), and the desk's October 1-2 article and X captures were searched by company name (an October 2 X post lists Teradyne among rallying test names without naming a cause). Moves below with no stated cause are therefore cause unknown, not cause absent. |
What's Going On
The rally is lopsided. Semiconductor-process names carried it: Teradyne 12.72% on the week, Kulicke & Soffa 10.52%, Keysight 6.21%, and Keysight is in a breakout reading -0.85% from its 52-week high. Wolfspeed is the outlier: a 13.19% day, 32.38% on the month, RSI 70.6, yet still 56.35% below its high. Its news pull (re-pulled 2026-10-03) shows only a September 30 forecast page and August results; the jump is cause unknown (stock-events and the October 1-2 captures checked). It is above its 200-day by 19.6%, so the label is a violent rebound inside a long-damaged chart, not an established uptrend.
The materials half still looks weaker. Carpenter Technology is at RSI 28.2, 12% under its 200-day with a 30-day change of -15.73%, even though its trailing year is 57.31% with alpha 42.3: a trend under test. MP Materials (-33.81% year, alpha -48.81, 17.2% under the line) is the one name failing every long window. Almonty's 30-day change is -24.25% but it has a 117.89% year with alpha 102.88; a deep pullback in an intact trend, -45.1% from its high.
Teledyne is back at its 200-day line (-1%) with RSI 51.4 and a flat month; it lost a brief reclaim in the September 25 scan and has not regained the line. It is the same name that sits in the drone-defense book, with alpha still negative at -8.99.
Amkor is the one equipment name still under its 200-day (-2.2%), up 5.9% on the day with a 89% year; it is a trend under test, a few percent from the line.
What Changed Since Prior Scan
- Names below their 200-day: six (KMT, CRS, MP, TDY, AMKR, ALM) of 11 with data versus seven on September 25; Wolfspeed is now above the line.
- Negative trailing-year alpha: two (MP, TDY) versus three (WOLF, MP, TDY) on September 25; Wolfspeed's alpha moved from deeply negative to 27.89.
- Overbought: Keysight and Wolfspeed are at RSI 70 or higher; on September 25 the highest was Keysight at 66.3.
- Breadth: 12 of 12 green today after a 9-of-12 RSI gain on September 25.
- Carpenter Technology's capitulation reading has resolved only partly: still the only name under RSI 30 (28.2) after being in capitulation a week ago.
How To Read The Board
Two stories share one table. Semiconductor test, packaging and metrology names (Teradyne, Keysight, Kulicke & Soffa, ASE, Amkor) are extended on the short windows but carry large trailing years and positive alpha: do not chase RSI 70, but do not call it a top either. The materials names (Carpenter, MP, Almonty, Kennametal) are the cheaper-looking half, and the horizon check says only Carpenter and Almonty have the long-run numbers to deserve a trend-under-test label.
Source limits: price and RSI against moving averages; no filings or estimates. ASX is an ADR (normal trade access per the symbol registry); all names here are tradable in principle, but low RSI or a single-day jump is screen evidence, not a setup.
