Bunge crossed below its 200-day average this scan, the closest call the desk flagged last time now resolved the wrong way. FMC fell another 6.34% today, deepening a decline that already had no confirmed cause, and CF Industries dropped into oversold territory alongside it as its RSI fell 7.7 points. Deere is the exception, extending further into overbought territory at RSI 67.9 while the rest of the book cools. The month-versus-week divide that defined the last two scans has narrowed: six of ten names lost RSI ground since the last scan, a more mixed picture than the clean sweeps either direction that preceded it.

Numbers are the settled September 23 close for all 10 names, three trading sessions after the September 18 scan. No market-wide brief for today's session exists in the corpus as of this scan. Comparison baseline is the September 18 scan.

Quick Snapshot

Signal Reading
Overall 🟡 Mixed: 4 of 10 names gained RSI, 6 lost, a break from the last two scans' clean sweeps in either direction
Leaders Deere (RSI 67.9, extended further; the only name still labeled uptrend), Mosaic (49.4), the agriculture commodity fund DBA (49.1)
Laggards FMC (RSI 37.6, worst on every window and still falling), CF Industries (39.9, newly oversold), Bunge (41.4, crossed below its 200-day this scan)
The horizon check Bunge joined FMC and Mosaic below its 200-day this scan; three of ten names now sit below their 200-day, up from two last scan
Caveat CF, Bunge, and ADM's news pulls are all more than four weeks stale relative to this week's declines; no dated cause exists for any of the three

What's Going On

Bunge is the structural change this scan. Last scan it sat 0.2% above its $115.36 200-day average — "the closest call in the book," as flagged then — and this scan it closed 3.6% below the line at $111.48, with its 200-day average itself edging up slightly to $115.60. That resolves last scan's open question the wrong way: Bunge has now joined FMC and Mosaic among the food-security names trading below their long-term average, even though its trailing-year alpha remains positive at +26.31.

FMC's deterioration continued without a break. It fell 6.34% today on top of an already-battered chart, taking the trailing week to -8.33% and the trailing year to -71.43%, with alpha at -87.2 — both worse than the -72.88% and -87.90 recorded two scans ago. Its news pull remains three weeks stale (newest item August 21), so no cause has ever been established for this name's slide.

CF Industries dropped into oversold territory this scan, its RSI falling 7.7 points to 39.9 on a week down 8.6%. It remains above its 200-day by 8.5% with alpha of +22.67, so the label stays deep pullback rather than breakdown — the same shape the desk flagged for it last scan, now at a lower RSI. Its news pull is more than six weeks stale (newest item August 5), so nothing on file explains the decline.

Deere is the one name still working cleanly. Its RSI climbed to 67.9 from 60.6, extending into more overbought territory on top of a 30-day gain of 9.38% and a trailing year of +50.42%. It remains the only uptrend-labeled name in the book and is now the more extended one to watch rather than the one to chase.

What Changed Since Prior Scan

  • DE: RSI 60.6 → 67.9 (+7.3), the largest gain, extending an already-strong chart.
  • DBA: RSI 41.4 → 49.1 (+7.7); CTVA 42.0 → 43.2 (+1.2); FMC 37.2 → 37.6 (+0.4) — a marginal gain despite the continued price decline; MOS 50.2 → 49.4 (-0.8).
  • ADM: RSI 54.1 → 45.5 (-8.6), the largest decline; CF: RSI 47.6 → 39.9 (-7.7), crossing into the oversold tier; NTR 54.7 → 49.0 (-5.7); BG 46.2 → 41.4 (-4.8); MOO 46.5 → 45.4 (-1.1).
  • BG: 200-day position flipped from +0.2% to -3.6% — a genuine cross below, resolving last scan's flagged near-miss.
  • MOS: remains fractionally below its 200-day at -0.8%, essentially unchanged from last scan's -0.4% miss; still has not reclaimed the line.
  • The below-200-day group grew to three names (FMC, MOS, BG), from two (FMC, MOS) last scan; CF, ADM, NTR, DBA, MOO, and DE all remain above their 200-day.
  • The negative-alpha group held at the same names as last scan: MOS (-44.03), FMC (-87.2), DBA (-9.28), CTVA (-0.03), MOO (-0.91) — all roughly unchanged in magnitude.

How To Read The Board

The clean sweeps that defined the last two scans — all ten down, or eight of ten cooling — gave way to a genuinely mixed picture this scan, and the mix matters more than the direction. Bunge's cross below its 200-day is the one name whose horizon status actually changed for the worse; Deere's further extension is the one that changed for the better. The other eight are largely holding their prior positions with smaller moves inside them.

FMC remains the book's one name broken on every window, and it is getting worse rather than stabilizing — this is now three consecutive scans of deterioration with no cause ever confirmed. CF's new entry into the oversold tier is different in kind: it sits above its 200-day with positive alpha, so a falling RSI there reads as a violent pullback inside an intact trend, the same distinction the desk has made for Corning and Ciena in other books.

Mosaic's three-way disagreement from last scan has narrowed but not resolved: its 30-day gain cooled sharply to +1.54% from +10.12%, it remains negative on the trailing year at -44.03 alpha, and it is still fractionally below its 200-day. The month's cushion that made this a genuine disagreement last scan is largely gone now — the reading is closer to a straightforward negative one.

Tier Analysis

Capitulation (RSI below 25): none.

Oversold (RSI 25-40) — 2 names: FMC (37.6, broken on every window), CF (39.9, deep pullback in an intact trend — above its 200-day with positive alpha).

Neutral to strong (RSI 40+) — 8 names: DE (67.9), MOS (49.4), DBA (49.1), NTR (49.0), ADM (45.5), MOO (45.4), CTVA (43.2), BG (41.4).

Entry Zones

Stock Entry zone Condition
CF $121-131 (under its $130.93 20-day) Newly oversold at RSI 39.9 but 8.5% above its 200-day with alpha +22.67 — the cleanest pullback shape in the book
BG $111-118 Just crossed below its $115.60 200-day; the condition is reclaiming that line, with alpha still positive at +26.31
MOS $24.37-24.96 Still fractionally below its $24.57 200-day for a second straight scan; alpha -44.03 argues the long record does not support a bounce
DE $676-709 Only name still labeled uptrend, now extended at RSI 67.9; any pullback entry is to the 20-day, not the 200-day
FMC not a zone Worst reading on every window, still deteriorating, no cause pulled for the continued decline

Action Matrix

Stock Signal Action Notes
DE 🟠 Extended ⚠️ Avoid chasing RSI 67.9, approaching overbought; still the book's cleanest chart
NTR, ADM, DBA, MOO 🟢 Horizon clean 🔒 Hold All above their 200-day; small pullbacks this scan without breaking trend
CF 🟢 Newly oversold, intact trend 🔍 Research Deep pullback shape; above its 200-day with positive alpha
BG 🟠 Lost its 200-day 🔍 Watch Resolved last scan's near-miss the wrong way; alpha still positive
MOS 🟠 Still stuck below its 200-day 🔍 Watch Second straight scan without a reclaim; alpha deeply negative
CTVA 🟡 Marginally negative alpha 🔍 Watch Above its 200-day; the alpha shortfall remains small
FMC 🔴 Broken on every window ⚠️ Avoid Third consecutive scan of deterioration with no cause on file

What To Watch Next

Watch Why it matters
Whether Bunge reclaims its $115.60 200-day Just crossed below this scan after sitting fractionally above it last time
Whether Mosaic ever reclaims its $24.57 200-day Now two consecutive scans stuck fractionally below it
A fresh news pull on FMC, CF, ADM, and Bunge All four are weeks stale relative to this week's moves; none has a confirmed cause
Whether Deere's extension (RSI 67.9) cools or keeps climbing The book's one clean uptrend is now the most stretched name in it
Whether CF's oversold reading resolves as a pullback or deepens Sits above its 200-day with positive alpha — the distinguishing test is whether that holds
FMC's scheduled October 28 print The first dated catalyst in this book, on its most damaged name

The Gold

Key Discoveries

Discovery Implication
Bunge crossed below its 200-day this scan Last scan's flagged near-miss (0.2% above) resolved the wrong way
The clean-sweep pattern broke Neither a uniform decline nor a uniform cooling this scan — four names gained RSI, six lost, a genuinely mixed book
FMC deteriorated for a third consecutive scan with no cause ever confirmed The book's most damaged name remains entirely unexplained

Mistakes (Don't Repeat)

Mistake Lesson
Treating a "near-miss" 200-day reading as settled Bunge's 0.2% cushion above its 200-day last scan looked stable; it crossed below within three sessions
Assuming a stale news pull means nothing happened CF, ADM, and Bunge all have pulls older than four weeks; the absence of news in the file is a gap in the evidence, not proof nothing occurred

Open Questions

  • Does Bunge reclaim its 200-day, or is this the start of a genuine trend break?
  • Does Mosaic ever close the gap to its 200-day, or does the negative alpha turn out to be the more durable number?
  • What has driven FMC's three-scan deterioration, with every news pull on file predating the decline?
