Mechanism-aware tiering, applied per ticker via market-engine watchlists/etf-monster-universe.json's mechanisms map:

Daily-reset leveraged (BITX, CDNG, CONL, DFEN, DUST, ENTL, FNGD, FNGU, FOMG, LABD, LABU, MRVU, MSTU, MSTX, MVLL, NUGT, NVDL, QLD, RAM, SOXL, SOXS, SPCH, SPCQ, SPXL, SQQQ, SSO, SSPC, SVXY, TECL, TECS, TNA, TQQQ, TSLL, TZA, UPRO, UVXY): leverage-adjusted return =

change30d / leverage_factor. 52wk-high field is ignored — volatility decay makes it meaningless. Tier on the leverage-adjusted return.

Synthetic-income (MSTY, NVDY, TSLY, YMAX, YMAG, CONY): same — NAV decay vs underlying

through covered-call mechanics. Ignore 52wk-high.

Buffered (BUFR): near-ATH is FLAGGED as late-cycle (these are designed to be flat).
Closed-end fund (BST, BSTZ, PDI, USA): near-ATH flag for premium/NAV check.
All others (passive-index, active-discretionary, thematic-rules-based, crypto-spot):
