1. The Read
Friday closed with a tape that looks calm on the surface and is quietly sorting itself underneath. Breadth was clearly positive — 760 names up against 349 down, median move +0.7% — and volatility sat at 15.13, down 5.5% on the day, which is complacency rather than relief. Credit did not argue with any of it: high-yield off 0.1% on the week, investment grade off 0.2%, intermediate Treasuries off 0.2%. That combination matters, because it is the difference between selling that is positioning and selling that is a credit event. This week's damage was positioning.
The sorting is in the leadership. Money kept moving toward government compute, cloud software and the cloud funds, and away from the hardware layer underneath — high-speed boards, contract manufacturing and chip-IP licensing all sat at the bottom of the relative-strength table. But every one of those leading lanes is also decelerating, which is the more interesting tell: the leaders are still leading and already slowing. Only one lane is turning up before the trailing board notices, and it is an unfashionable one — food security, seven of ten names rising.
The AI-infrastructure complex is where the week's real story sits, and it is a story about dispersion, not a cohort collapse. The power-and-mining leg broke a month ago and kept breaking Friday — Hut 8 off 8.8% on the day and 26.4% over the month, Cipher off 8.4% and 35.5%. The GPU-native names only cracked in the last week. It would be easy to read that as one stack rolling over together, and easy to be wrong: Nebius is up 231% over the past year and still sits 46.8% above its 200-day, and Hut 8 is up 278% over the year and above its own 200-day too. Those are violent pullbacks inside intact multi-year trends. The genuinely broken names are the ones the weekly numbers flatter — CoreWeave is down 3.2% over a full year and trailing the index by 25 points, Galaxy down 1.1% and trailing by 23. A bad week and a broken thesis are not the same condition, and this stack currently contains both.
Earnings were a split decision rather than a theme, and the reactions are worth dating precisely because several of them did not hold. On Wednesday's prints, Walmart's quarter was the one the tape heard as a miss, closing down 9.15% on nearly four times normal volume with momentum washed out at 29.4 — the worst reaction in the retail group — while Deere went the other way, up 6.94% on three times volume, the best large-cap response of that batch. By Friday's close the follow-through had diverged: Deere kept going, adding another 4.27% to $647.47, but the two China names reversed their print-day reactions outright. NetEase fell 5.85% on Wednesday and then rose 6.98% on Friday to $128.17; Alibaba's modest post-print gain went the other way, down 8.57% on Friday to $119.34. A one-day reaction to a print is a poll, not a verdict, and this week the poll was wrong twice inside three sessions. Elsewhere the speculative end of the market had a coordinated day — the quantum-computing names rose between 8% and 14.5% together, in a lane the rotation board lists as fading, with no catalyst on file for the move. Social channels were quiet: the weekend scan surfaced nothing worth acting on, which is itself worth saying.
Watch Monday: SanDisk reports alongside PDD and XPeng, with Intuit and Zoom on Tuesday. SanDisk is the one to care about — it comes in up 69.9% above its 200-day after a year that has repriced memory entirely, so the print lands on a stretched, believed-in trend rather than a contested one.

3. Three Things
- A broad RSI cooldown swept nearly every lane this week, and most of it is not a breakdown. The NVIDIA ecosystem cut lost RSI ground in 19 of 20 names while $MRVL stayed up 233% on the year, $INTC 283%, $AMD 189% — a deep pullback inside intact multi-year trends, not a rollover.
- Two real casualties emerged from the noise, both confirmed on the long-horizon check, not just a rough week. $WMT crashed 9.15% on its Wednesday print to RSI 29.6, now 12.5% below its 200-day; the entire Treasury/credit complex ($TLT, $IEF, $LQD, $BND, $HYG) is death-crossed, below its 200-day, and negative on the year.
- Of the 21 names sitting in this week's oversold-to-approaching-oversold entry zone, none have reclaimed their 20-day average. The cooldown is still in progress — the flag hasn't resolved into a breakout yet.
4. The Big Picture
Act 1 — The Cooldown That Isn't a Breakdown. $SPY fell from RSI 65.8 to 54.2 this week, $QQQ from 59.6 to 50.1, $IWM from 63.7 to 52.6 — all three broad benchmarks losing 9-12 RSI points on 7-day declines of roughly 1-2%. But every one of the five broad indices remains comfortably above its 200-day (SPY +8.2%, QQQ +9.3%, IWM +11.1%) with double-digit trailing-year gains (SPY +21.82%, QQQ +27.13%, IWM +33.80%). The same shape repeats across the AI/semiconductor complex: the semiconductor-equipment book saw every one of its 14 names post a negative week, yet 13 of 14 are still positive on the year and 12 of 14 sit above their 200-day; the optical-supply-chain book's collapse pocket reopened from zero to five names, but four of those five are still up 46-180% over the trailing year. Read on the week alone, this looks like the market rolling over. Read against the year, it reads as a violent pullback inside trends that mostly haven't broken.
Act 2 — The Traps Run Both Directions. The overbought trap: $ABT is the most extended name in the healthcare book (RSI 77.8) while sitting down 11.6% over the trailing year with a badly negative alpha — a squeeze on top of a weak trend, not confirmation of a healthy one. $HIMS posted its best week on the board (+20.07%) sitting on a -23.16% trailing year. $BKNG's 30-day return accelerated to +17.86% and its death-cross flag resolved, but it's still down 8.23% on the year and lagging the market by 30 points of alpha. Sherwin-Williams, Air Products, Linde, Ecolab, and PPG all carry "strong-up"/"up" short-trend tags while lagging the market by 18-26 points of trailing-year alpha. The oversold trap runs the other way: $CROX slid into oversold (RSI 38.6) but is up 45.7% on the year and 20.8% above its 200-day — a deep pullback, not a breakdown, the same read that applies to $CRS (RSI 35.6, +104.03% on the year, above its 200-day) and $ARM (RSI 39.2, +82.56% on the year, 23.4% above its 200-day).
Act 3 — What's Actually Broken. Strip out the horizon-mismatch cases and a real casualty list remains: the entire bond complex; $XLU (below its 200-day, +2.1% on the year, worst sector alpha on the board); $WMT, $HD, $MCD, $LOW (all below their 200-day with negative trailing-year returns); $TLN, $CEG, $QCOM, $SWKS inside the NVIDIA ecosystem cut; $AVAV and $KTOS in drone-defense; $ZTS (-50.1% on the year, -26.1% below its 200-day, the cleanest breakdown on the healthcare board); and $AMKR, which flipped fresh into collapse across two separate books this week. None of these get the deep-pullback benefit of the doubt — they fail the long-horizon check outright.
5. Focus List
| Ticker | Price | RSI | vs 20-day | 7D% | 30D% | Trend | Take |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $MSFT | $483.24 | 62.4 | +2.1% | -2.4% | +23.8% | up | Repair, not new leadership — still down 4.2% on the year despite the 30-day surge. |
| $TSLA | $362.86 | 58.0 | +10.6% | +6.0% | -3.0% | strong-down | Regime just upgraded collapse→downtrend, but still 10% below its 200-day. A bounce until it reclaims that line. |
| $NVDA | $214.72 | 51.0 | +0.7% | -4.6% | +1.3% | strong-up | Roughly flat on the month, comfortably above its 200-day. Nothing to do. |
| $AAPL | $309.35 | 47.3 | -1.6% | +1.1% | -5.1% | weak-down | Drifting, but up 37.6% on the year and holding its 200-day. |
| $GOOGL | $344.82 | 47.2 | -1.0% | -0.3% | +0.8% | weak-down | Quiet week, +72.6% on the year — the long-horizon leader of the group. |
| $AMZN | $258.63 | 49.7 | -1.1% | -1.5% | +5.6% | strong-up | Trend intact, nothing to do. |
| $NET | $293.14 | 52.2 | -0.2% | -7.2% | +9.0% | strong-up | Rough week, 33.7% above its 200-day. Deep pullback, not a break. |
| $ARM | $243.32 | 39.2 | -6.7% | -12.9% | -14.1% | weak-down | The $255-280 support zone broke. Still 23.4% above its 200-day with an 82.6% year — a deep pullback, no clean entry yet. |
| $NTR | $75.27 | 73.0 | +9.8% | +10.4% | +9.9% | up | Extended — the one focus name overbought on both trailing books. |
| $MU | $966.78 | 54.3 | +7.9% | -0.6% | +0.8% | strong-up | +736% on the year, 69.3% above its 200-day. The memory trade in one line. |
| $SNDK | $1,596.08 | 53.7 | +15.6% | -2.8% | -0.2% | weak-down | +3,408% on the year, 69.9% above its 200-day, reporting Monday into a stretched, believed-in trend. |
The quantum bucket ($IONQ, $RGTI, $QBTS, $QUBT, $INFQ, $XNDU, $HQ, $ARQQ, $LAES) popped 8-14.5% together in the single 2026-08-21 session with no catalyst on file — $INFQ led at +12.5%, $HQ at +14.5%. A coordinated single-day move across an entire speculative bucket reads as a crowd event, not nine independent theses; $RGTI, $QBTS, and $IONQ all sit at-or-below their own 200-day even after the pop, and the group stays excluded on business quality (pre-revenue, lottery-shaped), not on drawdown depth.
6. Sector Scorecard
| Sector | RSI Range | Trend | Assessment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Energy (E&P) | 65.6-74.0 | strong-up | Every upstream name positive on the year and above its 200-day — short and long windows agree for once. |
| Oil Services | 59.1-61.2 | strong-up | $SLB +59.33% and $OIH +72.95% on the year; $OIH's RSI has cooled to 59.1 from an overbought read two weeks ago. |
| Agriculture | 60.8-73.0 | strong-up | The one lane turning up ahead of the tape — $NTR, $CF, $DE combine this week's strength with genuinely positive trailing years. |
| Precious Metals | 66.8-75.3 | up/parabolic | $GLD crossed back above its 200-day for the first time in this tracked window; $SLV's +81.22% year sits oddly below its own 200-day — a volatile round trip. |
| Biotech | n/a (oversold band empty) | strong-up | Overbought club doubled from four to nine names; $ILMN confirmed a real breakout at +121% on the year. |
| Custom Silicon | 38.7-56.0 | mixed | $MRVL is the clean leader (+233% 1Y); $AVGO just closed below its 200-day for the first time this stretch — the cleanest single-name trend test on the desk. |
| Defense | 34.1-53.9 | mixed | Every name down on the week, cause unknown; $LMT/$RTX/$GD/$GE stay intact above their 200-day, $NOC/$LHX/$BA/$BWXT are genuinely broken. |
| Broad Indices | 52.3-54.2 | strong-up | Uniform ~10-point RSI cooldown, zero death crosses, every index double-digit positive on the year. |
| Mega-Cap Tech | 47.2-62.4 | mixed | $GOOGL is the long-horizon leader (+72.63%, alpha +50.81); $MSFT is the trap — a 30-day bounce sitting on a negative trailing year. |
| Enterprise SaaS | 42.8-63.3 | mixed | $CRWD/$OKTA/$DDOG all deep pullbacks 35-38% above their 200-day; $INTU's bounce sits on an explicitly broken thesis flag. |
| Consumer | 38.6-62.4 | mixed | $HIMS's best week of the stretch hides a -23.16% year; $CROX's oversold dip sits inside a +45.7% year. |
| Housing | 46.7-48.8 | down | $XHB/$ITB both below their 200-day with negative trailing years — tracking the bond complex's weakness, not equities' strength. |
| International | 51.8-60.2 | mixed | $EEM leads on every window (+37.15% 1Y, alpha +15.33); $FXI is the real laggard despite this week's bounce (-6.54% 1Y, alpha -28.36). |
| Crypto | 69.1-95.7 | overbought/broken | Every coin deep overbought; every coin negative on the year. $BTC's -28.55% deficit is the smallest in the group. |

7. Market Vibe
The tape this week is bifurcated in a very specific way: short-window technicals cooled almost everywhere at once, while the long-horizon numbers kept saying "intact" for most of the board. That's not a contradiction — it's the flag stage of a pullback, and it shows up identically in unrelated corners of the market: the broad indices, the entire NVIDIA-adjacent chip complex, the semiconductor-equipment book, and the optical-supply-chain book all cooled together while staying well above their 200-day averages with strong trailing years.
What doesn't fit that story is where the real damage concentrated — and it concentrated in exactly the places the "safe" and "extended" labels would have hidden it. The defensive sleeve ($WMT, $XLU, $HD, $MCD, $LOW) posted the board's weakest cohort read, worse than anything in speculative tech. The bond complex is the one place this cycle where short and long horizons fully agree on damage. And the transportation complex — airlines and cruise lines together — broke down with no catalyst on file, while the adjacent lodging/booking names ($MAR, $HLT, $ABNB, $EXPE) kept basing or extending in the same window; chemicals, the industrial-input read-through, showed none of the same deterioration. Three related sectors, three different outcomes, and nothing in the tape says why.
There is a second signal underneath the cooldown that the price tables miss. Across the power-semiconductor and photonics cohort — $AOSL, $LASR, $POWI, $MPWR, $NVTS, $VICR, $BESI, $LITE — Q2 results landed between late July and mid-August, and the pattern was beat-and-sell: $LASR fell 25.4% on a beat, $AOSL 12.1% on a beat, $POWI 8.7% on a beat. A lane rejecting good numbers is a different condition from a lane posting bad ones, and it sits directly beneath the hardware layer money rotated out of this week.
The other contradiction worth naming: crypto posted its best short-term board in weeks (DOGE at RSI 95.7, XRP +51% on 7 days) while every single coin stayed negative on the trailing year — a euphoric spike sitting on top of a still-damaged longer trend. The miner equities $RIOT and $CLSK didn't even participate in the rally, which is the tell that this is a coin-specific squeeze, not a genuine risk-on regime change.

Expanded Dispatches
Retail. $WMT is the story of the week on this board — the stock fell 9.15% on its reporting session and the damage carried through the close, RSI washing from 55.7 to 29.6 and price landing 12.5% below its 200-day. $TJX cratered the same week to RSI 25.4, the board's lowest print. Neither is a broken multi-year trend outright (WMT is still up 5.86% on the year, TJX roughly flat) — both are trends genuinely under test at the 200-day, not clean discounts. $TGT is the counterweight, extending into overbought at RSI 76.0, just off its 52-week high.
Defensives. This is the weakest cohort on the desk this cycle, and it isn't close. $WMT crashed into oversold, $XLU relapsed almost all the way back to its own oversold line, and five of fifteen names in the book fail the long-trend test outright ($WMT, $HD, $MCD, $LOW, $XLU). Only $TGT, $SBUX, and $VZ read as genuinely healthy long trends. The "safe" sleeve concentrated the real damage this cycle, not the speculative end of the market.
NVIDIA Ecosystem. Nineteen of twenty tracked names lost RSI ground together — the cohort's cleanest single-scan cooldown in months — and $GEV and $TLN, the only two names carrying a confirmed uptrend tag two scans ago, both dropped 15 RSI points. Read on the week, that's a rollover. Read against the year, most of the cut is still trading well above its 200-day with triple-digit gains ($MRVL +233%, $INTC +283%, $AMD +189%, $MXL +340%). The real casualties are $CEG, $TLN, $QCOM, and $SWKS — the four names actually trading flat-or-down on their own year-ago price with a negative long-trend alpha.
Crypto. Every coin in the universe is deep into overbought territory — $DOGE at RSI 95.7, $XRP 86.8, $BTC 81.3 — on a broad melt-up ($XRP +51.0% on 7 days). But every single coin's trailing-year return stayed negative, and $BTC's -28.55% deficit is the smallest in the group. This is a euphoric short-term risk-on spike sitting on top of a still-damaged longer trend, not a confirmed reversal — and the miner equities $RIOT and $CLSK didn't participate, the clearest divergence on the whole board.
Food Security. Eight of ten names in this book posted a positive weekly return, with RSI jumps of 12-22 points across $MOO, $MOS, $NTR, $CTVA, and $CF — the desk's earliest, cleanest rotation tell this cycle, ahead of a tape that was cooling almost everywhere else. $NTR, $CF, and $DE combine the week's strength with genuinely positive trailing years; $MOS and $FMC need the discount applied — both posted the book's sharpest RSI pops while still down 25-72% on the year.
9. The Front Page
Perspective Dispatches
AI Power Bottleneck — Watts Per Rack + Generation-Side. The generation-side split held this week: $BE is a deep pullback inside a massive secular trend (+349.36% on the year, 8.0% above its 200-day) even after a rough week, while $CEG and $TLN are both now below their 200-day with negative trailing-year returns — the demand-side thesis is intact, but the merchant-utility expression of it is genuinely under test.
AI Power Delivery — The 30% Parasitic Loss. The power-semiconductor challenger cohort took the week's hardest hit — $VICR breached its $215-245 support zone (now $200.54, RSI 40.1) and $NVTS and $MPWR both cooled sharply — but all three remain deep-pullback cases, not breaks: $VICR is still +329.33% on the year, $NVTS +108.86%, $MPWR +60.38%, each still above its 200-day.
Gulf Infrastructure Strike Scenario. This scenario's own binding window — the SK-fab helium-stockpile depletion — falls in late August/early September, right now. No fresh restart-clock or fab-allocation catalyst is on file this session; the scenario stays a monitored binary, not a live trade.
Risk-On Tech Rotation (war-ends-playbook). The original concentrated longs are exactly where the wider tape is: $NVDA flat-to-up on the month and above its 200-day, $GOOGL flat on the week and +72.6% on the year, $AMZN up 5.6% on the month. The regime lens holds; nothing here escalated it back to active.
The Gold Anomaly (gold-crash). The thesis's own stated invalidator moved against it this week: $GLD (RSI 71.2, +37.77% on the year) closed back above its 200-day for the first time in this tracked window, and $GDX pushed into a parabolic regime at RSI 75.3. The "structurally dead safe haven" frame is looking stale against the tape, not confirmed.
AI Optical Supercycle. The optical book's collapse pocket reopened from zero to five names this week ($FN, $CLS, $PLAB, $LWLG, $ALMU), but four of the five are still up 46-180% on the year — a violent pullback inside mostly-intact trends, not the wave breaking. $ALMU, negative on the year, is the one name where the tag looks earned.
US Energy Dominance. The internal split holds: upstream and services are both positive on every window this week ($XOM +51.16% 1Y, $HAL +66.07% 1Y), and $OIH's RSI has cooled to 59.1 from the late-cycle overbought read flagged two weeks ago — some of the pressure this thesis was watching for has already released.
Memory Supercycle. The year's most extreme repricing stayed fully intact through this week's pullback: $MU is 69.3% above its 200-day at +736% on the year, $SNDK 69.9% above at +3,408%, $STX +449.81%, $WDC +515.38% — every name in the book red on the week, every one deep in an uptrend.
SpaceX IPO Liquidity Event. No fresh lockup-ladder or S-1 development is on file this session; the debut is now three months behind the tape and this scenario stays a positioning lens on the AI-infra cohort rather than an active trade.
Nearline HDD Storage. No fresh earnings or capacity-discipline signal from Seagate or WDC this session; $STX and $WDC both stay deep-pullback cases (+449.81%/+515.38% on the year) inside this week's broader semiconductor-equipment cooldown.
Livestock Disease. No out-of-zone screwworm detection is on file this session — the alert trigger hasn't fired. $ELAN, the thesis's clean expression, is a modest deep pullback (+37.05% on the year, 1.5% above its 200-day); $ZTS remains explicitly not the screwworm trade and is the healthcare board's cleanest breakdown on its own franchise issues.
Biotech Capital Cycle. The tools/CRO complex the thesis flagged as running hot is still running: $TMO is overbought at RSI 74.6 (+30.08% 1Y), $RGEN RSI 76.2 (+51.38% 1Y), $MEDP RSI 66.4 (+36.93% 1Y) — the ratification gate (mega-cap tools all RSI>60 together) is closer to firing than it has been.
Nuclear Fuel Cycle. The conviction-gradient split showed up again this week: $UEC is up 13.55% on 7 days and +32.64% on the year, while $VST (-28.42% 1Y, RSI 37.2) and $OKLO (-37.36% 1Y) — the speculative SMR tier — stayed the weakest names in the lane, exactly the split this thesis was built to trade.
CPU Shortage Supply Chain. $ALAB cooled sharply this week (-11.51% on 7 days) but remains +60.52% on the year and 30.2% above its 200-day; $AMKR, the substrate/OSAT leg, flipped fresh into collapse across two separate scans this session — worth a direct read on whether the merchant-CPU or the substrate leg is the one actually breaking.
China Structural Discount. The reversal trap of the week: $BABA closed +1.26% on its print Wednesday, then reversed to -8.57% by Friday; $NTES did the opposite, falling 5.85% Wednesday and rising 6.98% by Friday. $FXI's RSI bounce (46.4→57.9) sits on top of a still-negative trailing year (-6.54%) and a 28-point alpha deficit — the structural discount hasn't closed.
AI Capex Digestion. $GOOGL stays the healthy-rotation bellwether this thesis watches, up 72.63% on the year with the best alpha in the mega-cap group; $MSFT is the live squeeze case flagged in this cycle's mag7 read — a strong 30-day bounce sitting on a negative trailing year.
Physical AI / Robotics. The arms-dealer/moonshot split held again: $TER (in the semiconductor-equipment book) and $ISRG both sit at opposite ends of the quality spectrum — $TER intact and extended, $ISRG the healthcare board's clean breakdown, down 19.38% on the year and below its 200-day for a third straight scan.
Quantum Computing — The Sovereign-Catalyst Trade. The whole pure-play bucket popped 8-14.5% together in a single session with no catalyst on file — $INFQ +12.5%, $HQ +14.5% — the exact basket-first, no-single-name-pick pattern this thesis is built around; $RGTI, $QBTS, and $IONQ all remain at-or-below their own 200-day even after the pop.
AI Mega-IPO Liquidity Regime. Anthropic's pre-IPO credit facility is reported topping its $10B target this week, and its run-rate is reported having passed $65B ahead of a fall listing — the audited-S-1 test this lens is waiting for is getting closer, not further away.
Trump Policy Ticker Catalysts. No clean direct-post ticker move is on file this session; the standing negative-control framing (source-tier discipline over vibes) holds unchanged.
The Midterm Window. None of the five machine-watched triggers fired this week — $SPY's RSI (54.2) sits below the 55 turn-confirming threshold and $IWM's 30-day print, while positive, doesn't clear the small-caps-lead condition. The window stays flat-with-triggers.
Drone Defense — The Budget Line Item That Reshores. $UMAC gave back a chunk of its parabolic run (RSI 72.3→54.7) but remains up 39.45% on the month and 160.99% on the year — a pullback, not a reversal. $AVAV and $KTOS are the opposite case, genuinely negative on the year and below their 200-day — their downtrend tags are earned, not noise, and neither has reclaimed the trend-hold setup this thesis is waiting for.
Momentum Watch
| Ticker | Price | vs 200-day | 3M% | Theme | Why It's Interesting |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $MRNA | $145.13 | +197.8% | +209.6% | Biotech | Doubled Wednesday on positive late-stage data for its personalized mRNA cancer therapy with Merck; now the single largest move on the board. |
| $AMLX | $38.66 | +145.7% | +184.7% | Biotech | Up 78.6% on the week, then filed a 424B5 public offering into the rally — an offering priced into strength. |
| $TXG | $65.12 | +145.2% | +175.0% | Biotech tools | Part of the same parabolic biotech-tools cluster confirming across two independent scans this cycle. |
| $ATRO | $78.00 | +29.7% | +83.5% | Aerospace | Newly visible on the board after a two-month split-adjustment data fault was fixed today — a data repair, not new strength. |
| $DELL | $442.08 | +86.5% | +49.8% | Hardware | Parabolic-tier name that's flattened on the month (+0.1%) even as its 200-day cushion stays enormous. |
Biotech dominates this week's momentum board outright — $MRNA, $AMLX, $TXG, $ABCL, $IOVA, $CDNA, $ABSI, $CORT, $MBX, and $ELVN are all 60%+ above their 200-day. Refiners and energy names sit in the 30-55% band underneath, and $ATRO's reappearance is a data-integrity story, not a fresh technical breakout.
Deep Dive Spotlight
$AVGO — this cycle's cleanest single-name trend test. Price closed at $368.45, RSI 38.7, 0.2% below its 200-day — the first close below that line in the tracked window, cross-confirmed independently across five separate scans this cycle. The custom-ASIC thesis (Google/Meta/Apple XPUs) is still rated intact underneath a +28.16% trailing year. Watch: entry zone $360-375 (the 200-day area), stop $298, target $382 on a 20-day reclaim.
$ARM — a deep pullback in an intact trend, with a sourced cause. The stock fell 12.9% on the week to $243.32 (RSI 39.2), breaking through its prior $255-280 support zone. Shares fell on reported smartphone-market softness and AI-chip supply constraints. Still 82.6% up on the year and 23.4% above its 200-day. Watch: entry zone $255-280 broken through, tighter stop $240, target $328 on a 20-day reclaim; no clean entry until RSI reclaims 40.
$ISRG — the one confirmed breakdown in this week's healthcare and biotech reads. Price $378.81, RSI 47.6, now down 19.38% over the trailing year and 19.9% below its 200-day for a third straight scan — the "actually-lagging" name in a cohort the desk otherwise reads as deep pullbacks. Its own thesis flag still reads intact even as the chart disagrees, a divergence worth a direct fundamentals check on the next refresh.

| AI Infra | $MRVL | 55.8 | +12.35% | Up (deep pullback) | $MRVL is the long-horizon leader (+232.87% 1Y); $PLTR's pop is the short-window squeeze in this basket. |
| Biotech | $MRNA | 72 | +149.92% | Up (extreme, cause sourced) | $AMGN and $TMO both near fresh highs; a genuinely strong cohort, not a one-name pop. |
| Cloud/SaaS | $CRWD | 42.8 | +1.87% | Down (deep pullback) | $CRWD/$OKTA/$DDOG all 35-38% above their 200-day; $INTU's bounce sits on an explicitly broken thesis. |
| Consumer | $CROX | 38.6 | -10.35% | Down (deep pullback) | $HIMS is this basket's trap — a strong-up tag over a negative trailing year. |
| Crypto | $BTC | 81.3 | +18.89% | Up (short-term only) | $RIOT is the one name genuinely positive on both windows; the coins themselves are not. |
| Energy | $BE | 42.6 | -7.68% | Down (deep pullback) | $TLN and $CEG are the opposite case — both now below their 200-day with negative alpha. |
| Mag7 | $GOOGL | 47.2 | +0.8% | Down (deep pullback) | $MSFT is the trap: a 30-day bounce over a negative trailing year despite sitting above its 200-day. |
| Memory | $MU | 54.3 | +0.76% | Down (deep pullback) | The year's most extreme repricing, still fully intact by every long-horizon read. |
| Retail | $TJX | 25.4 | -9.57% | Down (genuinely broken) | All four names flat-to-negative on the year — the one candidate basket that's actually broken, not pulling back. |
| Space | $IRDM | 52 | +4.5% | Mixed | $IRDM is the one clean leader; $RKLB's thesis is already flagged broken by the desk's own classification. |
| Web/Cloud | $DOCN | 60.5 | +16.12% | Down (deep pullback) | $AKAM has the thinnest 200-day cushion in the basket — the name closest to the line. |

Gold / Commodities. $GLD closed back above its 200-day this cycle for the first time in the tracked window (+2.4%, was -2.6%), RSI 71.2 and +37.77% on the year. $GDX pushed into a parabolic regime at RSI 75.3. $SLV is the complex's odd case — +81.22% on the year while sitting 2.8% below its own 200-day, a volatile round trip rather than a clean uptrend. Copper ($COPX) is the strongest structural trend in the whole commodities file at +102.85% on the year. The dollar ($UUP) stayed essentially flat on the year (+1.09%), so none of this reads as a currency-debasement story.
Insider Buying. The buying table is frozen for a second straight cycle — the same five names, essentially unchanged dollar figures: $TSLA (+$219.9M), $CRSP (+$28.1M), $ASAN (+$8.7M), $INTC (+$2.4M), $TSM (+$1.6M). The golden signal (RSI below 30 plus active buying) has now been empty for three straight cycles. $RBLX is the name closest to oversold (RSI 39.9) and it's also the one carrying $695.4M in selling against a structurally broken chart — priced weak because it is weak, not a value setup. Heaviest captured selling sits in structurally intact names ($AMZN -$9.6B, $NVDA -$3.3B, $LLY -$3.1B) — scale-driven, not a fresh bearish tell.
Crypto. Every coin in the universe is deep overbought — $DOGE at RSI 95.7 is the highest reading in the entire scan corpus this cycle — on a broad short-term melt-up that reversed every regime downgrade from two weeks ago. But the trailing year stays negative across every single coin, and $BTC's -28.55% deficit is the smallest in the group; every altcoin has underperformed it by a wide margin over the year. The miner equities $RIOT (-15.18% 30-day, worsening) and $CLSK (downgraded to collapse) did not participate in the coin rally — the clearest divergence on the board.
Regime Transitions. The newest transition batch (2026-08-21 vs. 2026-08-20) carries 102 confirmed state-to-state flips, with uptrend→pullback the single largest bucket (24 names) — matching this cycle's broad cooldown directly. Total state counts across the tracked universe: collapse 127, pullback 401, uptrend 254, downtrend 115. $RKLB's pullback→collapse flip is the one explicit thesis-broken override in the batch, a hard flag regardless of any technical bounce. $TSLA (collapse→downtrend), $NET (uptrend→pullback), $LOW (pullback→downtrend), and $CRM (downtrend→pullback) all carry an intact thesis flag alongside their regime move — cross-confirming the deep-pullback read rather than contradicting it.
AI Infrastructure Dispersion. The AI-infra scan's own read this cycle is a genuine split, not a cohort collapse: the power-and-mining leg (Hut 8, Cipher) broke weeks ago and kept falling this week, while the GPU-native names only cracked in the last few sessions. $NBIS is up 231% on the year and 46.8% above its 200-day; $HUT is up 278% on the year and above its own 200-day too — both are violent pullbacks inside intact trends. $CRWV (-3.24% on the year, -4.5% below its 200-day) and $GLXY (-1.05% on the year, -6.6% below) are the genuinely broken names the weekly numbers alone would flatter into looking fine.

11. The Wild & Whacky
- Moderna more than doubled on one session. $MRNA added roughly $30 billion in market value Wednesday on positive late-stage data for its personalized mRNA cancer therapy developed with Merck — the single largest move on the board this cycle, now +453.51% on the year.
- A public offering priced straight into a parabola. $AMLX rallied 78.6% on the week, then filed a 424B5 public offering on August 20 — an offering into strength, the mechanism that's supposed to work and rarely does cleanly.
- Nine speculative names moved together with nobody home. The quantum bucket rose 8-14.5% in a single session with no catalyst on file anywhere in the corpus — a crowd event across a whole lane at once, not nine separate theses.
- $HOOD popped 13.7% with no article-level cause on file. The news pull for the name carries only generic "why did it move today" listicle headlines — worth flagging as genuinely unexplained rather than papering over with a guess.
- A whole cohort beat and got sold anyway. $LASR fell 25.4% on an earnings beat, $AOSL 12.1% on a beat, $POWI 8.7% on a beat — the power-semiconductor lane rejecting good numbers, which is a different condition from posting bad ones.
- The leveraged-crypto complex is decaying into a rally, not riding it. $MSTU and $MSTX are both +59% on the week and still -95.6% below their 52-week high; $SOXS is down 84.6% from its own 200-day even after this cycle's bounce — leveraged/inverse decay eating gains the underlying assets are actually posting.
- The same unexplained spike has now run three full cycles. $TEAM's 30-day return is +101.18% on a trailing year of just +4.39% — a fresh, concentrated move on a thin base, still with no corpus source naming a driver.
- Two reversals inside three sessions. $NTES fell 5.85% on its Wednesday print, then rose 6.98% by Friday; $BABA closed modestly positive on its own print, then reversed to -8.57% by Friday. A one-day earnings reaction was the wrong read twice this week.
- A repaired data fault, not a fresh breakout. $ATRO reappeared on the momentum board at +174.5% on the year after a two-month split-adjustment error in its price data was fixed this session — a name becoming visible, not a name that got stronger overnight.
12. Paper Trade Report Card
All four active paper strategies stayed in the black this cycle, and the story underneath the totals is discipline, not just direction: three strategies bought the same deep-pullback names, one bought nothing at all, and the reason it bought nothing is itself the signal.
| Strategy | Total Value | Return | Highlight |
|---|---|---|---|
| yolo | $110,915.02 | +10.92% | Bought $ARM/$CVS/$CRS plus $TTMI, named explicitly as a bounce bet in a trend still under test (+171% on the year but freshly 6% below its 200-day). |
| claude-trader | $110,307.10 | +10.31% | Bought $ARM/$CVS/$CRS at $2,500 each — all three deep pullbacks inside intact trends. |
| momentum-trader | $100,000.00 | 0.00% | Bought $FCX/$CF/$DAR at $10,000 each, all long-horizon confirmed; rejected $ECL off the same screen for a negative trailing year and -22.32 alpha. |
| bench-signals | $63,606.72 | mechanical | Took all 16 non-held entry-zone names mechanically at $1,000 each — the unfiltered control. |
| dip-buyer | $100,000.00 | 0.00% | Zero buys this cycle. An honest zero: no name in this week's screen has reclaimed its 20-day, so the strategy's own discipline kept it out. |
Realized to date: yolo $9,118.41 (13W/10L), bench-signals $5,404.01 (26W/12L), claude-trader $5,340.36 (9W/6L). The strategies that bought this cycle all landed on the same handful of names ($ARM, $CVS, $CRS) — convergent picks across independently-run books is itself worth noting, whatever it ends up meaning for the follow-through.
13. What I'd Tell a Friend
Nothing in this week's tape demands urgency — the cooldown is broad, orderly, and mostly sitting inside trends that haven't broken. The names worth watching are the ones where the deep-pullback read is cleanest and the entry hasn't shown up yet:
- $MRVL ($237.04, RSI 55.8) — the only name in the entire NVIDIA-ecosystem cut to gain RSI ground this cycle while 19 others cooled. +232.87% on the year, 63.4% above its 200-day. Entry condition: a reclaim of the 20-day with volume, not a chase at the current print.
- $CRS ($492.38, RSI 35.6) — a third regime whipsaw in three cycles, but +104.03% on the year and still above its 200-day. Watch whether this round trip holds or finally resolves down.
- $NTR / $CF / $DE — the food-security rotation's cleanest names, combining this week's strength with genuinely positive trailing years ($NTR +30.65%, $CF +50.07%, $DE +33.02%, all above their 200-day). The earliest rotation tell on the board, worth confirming into next cycle before sizing it.
- $CROX ($122.11, RSI 38.6) — oversold on the week, +45.7% on the year, 20.8% above its 200-day. A deep pullback, not a broken trend; wait for RSI to clear 45 before treating the dip as done.
- $AVGO ($368.45, RSI 38.7) — the cleanest single-name trend test on the board right now. The 200-day at roughly $369 is the level that decides whether this stays a pullback or becomes something worse.
What to watch: whether the broad market/AI-semis cooldown stabilizes above the 200-day (a real flag resolving up) or deepens into an actual break — that's the single question this whole cycle is asking. Next up, $SNDK reports Monday alongside $PDD and $XPEV, with $INTU and $ZM on Tuesday; SanDisk is the one that matters, landing on the most stretched trend on the board at roughly 69.9% above its own 200-day.
14. Active Perspectives
| Perspective | Status | Key Update |
|---|---|---|
| AI Power Bottleneck | active | $BE deep pullback intact; $CEG/$TLN now below their 200-day — demand thesis intact, merchant-utility leg under test. |
| AI Power Delivery | active | $VICR breached its support zone; still +329.33% on the year — deep pullback, not a break. |
| Gulf Infrastructure Strike Scenario | monitoring | Binding helium-depletion window is now (late Aug/early Sept); no fresh catalyst on file. |
| Risk-On Tech Rotation (war-ends-playbook) | monitoring | Original longs ($NVDA, $GOOGL, $AMZN) all tracking the wider tape's deep-pullback pattern; regime lens unchanged. |
| The Gold Anomaly (gold-crash) | monitoring | $GLD closed back above its 200-day this cycle — the thesis's own stated invalidator is moving against it. |
| AI Optical Supercycle | monitoring | Collapse pocket reopened to five names; four of five still up 46-180% on the year. |
| US Energy Dominance | monitoring | Oil complex strong on every window; $OIH's RSI cooled to 59.1 from its prior late-cycle warning. |
| Memory Supercycle | active | $MU/$SNDK/$STX/$WDC all deep pullbacks this week, all still 28-70% above their 200-day. |
| SpaceX IPO Liquidity Event | monitoring | No fresh lockup/S-1 development on file; positioning lens only. |
| Nearline HDD Storage | monitoring | No fresh Seagate/WDC signal; $STX/$WDC stay deep-pullback cases. |
| Livestock Disease | monitoring | No out-of-zone screwworm detection; $ELAN modest deep pullback, $ZTS explicitly not the trade. |
| Biotech Capital Cycle | monitoring | $TMO/$RGEN/$MEDP all overbought together — the ratification gate is closer to firing. |
| Nuclear Fuel Cycle | active | $UEC strong this week; $VST/$OKLO stayed the lane's weakest names — the conviction split held. |
| CPU Shortage Supply Chain | monitoring | $ALAB cooled but intact; $AMKR flipped fresh into collapse across two scans. |
| China Structural Discount | monitoring | $BABA/$NTES both reversed their own print-day direction within three sessions. |
| AI Capex Digestion | active | $MSFT is this cycle's live squeeze case — a bounce over a negative trailing year. |
| Physical AI / Robotics | active | $ISRG is the healthcare board's clean breakdown; the arms-dealer/moonshot split holds. |
| Quantum Computing | monitoring | Whole pure-play bucket popped together with no catalyst — the basket-first pattern this thesis is built on. |
| AI Mega-IPO Liquidity Regime | monitoring | Anthropic's credit facility reported topping its $10B target; run-rate reported past $65B ahead of listing. |
| Trump Policy Ticker Catalysts | monitoring | No clean direct-post move on file this session. |
| The Midterm Window | active | None of the five machine-watched triggers fired this week; window stays flat-with-triggers. |
| Drone Defense | active | $UMAC gave back a chunk of its run inside an intact trend; $AVAV/$KTOS remain genuinely broken. |

A desk call is an authored stance from a published report; entry and invalidation conditions are human-read, and the full ledger lives at /calls.
30d vs SPY is the raw name-vs-SPY move since the call — for trim/sell calls a NEGATIVE number means the call worked (the name fell after it).

𝕏@KobeissiLetter — The Kobeissi Letter — South Korea's chip trade surplus hit a record ~$35B in June, more than tripling in 12 months $MU $SNDK $EWY · link- A national trade-balance print is a hard confirmation of the memory tightness thesis from outside the companies' own reporting: on the stated June figure, chips carry roughly $35B of surplus against ~$1B for everything else South Korea sells. That is a country whose entire external surplus is one industry. Note the wi…
𝕏@SemiAnalysis_ — SemiAnalysis — 3D NAND is switching word lines from tungsten to molybdenum above ~300 layers $MU $SNDK $AMAT $LRCX · link- A physics-down bottleneck under the memory supercycle: layer-stacking is the only scaling axis left for 3D NAND, and past roughly 300 layers the tungsten wiring itself becomes the limit on resistance and fluorine chemistry. A materials switch at that layer of the stack is a deposition-equipment and precursor story bef…
𝕏@IPONewsroom_ — IPO Newsroom — Anthropic bankers floated a $100B+ raise at a $2T valuation, per NYT (early discussions) $MSFT $NVDA · link- Fact strength matters here: this is a report of early banker conversations, not a filing, and the post says so itself. Taken at the stated size it would be the largest offering ever attempted and a liquidity event large enough to reprice the AI private-mark complex and pull capital out of listed names to fund allocati…
𝕏michaelsikand — Unitree pops +629% on its China listing $TER $ISRG · link- The robotics lane's speculative temperature in one number: a +629% listing-day pop for the humanoid-robot maker on China's mainland market. A sentiment datapoint for the physical-AI thesis, not a fundamentals one.
𝕏zephyr_z9 — Marvell hands Google a warrant for ~6.7% of the company, vesting on custom-chip revenue $MRVL $GOOGL · link- The hyperscaler-equity-for-order-book structure arrives at Marvell: Google gets paid in upside for routing custom-silicon revenue through MRVL until FY2033. Three separate captures surfaced it today — a real disclosed mechanism that changes how the custom-ASIC lane's wins should be valued, not a rumor.
𝕏AnthropicAI (via citrini) — Anthropic — Claude designs novel protein binders against 14 of 15 targets $TWST $MRNA · link- Weeks of expert binder design compressed to an autonomous run, on the same day the first mRNA cancer vaccine cleared Phase 3 — the AI-times-biology thread now has datapoints at both ends of the pipeline (design and clinic). Via citrini's TWST thread.
𝕏@ChurchillWw — Transmission is the binding constraint on new generation — Pepco's rights-of-way rebuild is the template · link- The grid-buildout lane's mechanism in one post: you cannot add generation faster than the wires that carry it, and reusing existing corridors (a 230 kV rebuild plus a new 500 kV circuit in the same right-of-way) is how the constraint gets relaxed without a decade of siting fights.
𝕏@KobeissiLetter — US margin debt fell $85B in July to $1.42T — the largest monthly drop on record $SPY · link- The leverage read flips: June's record $1.50T (+49% y/y) was the peak; July's -$85B is the biggest monthly deleveraging ever, bigger than January 2022's. Deleveraging into a rout is how corrections stay corrections — a datapoint for the four-leg monitor, not a bull or bear verdict.
𝕏@IPONewsroom_ — Anthropic's pre-IPO credit facility is set to top its $10B target — lead banks asked for ~$1.25B each · link- The AI-capex bond wave, one deal at a time: a $10B+ bank facility ahead of a fall IPO is the same savings pool the Treasury is competing for. Read next to the 30-year at 5.3% and the AI-issuance question the desk is running down.
𝕏@IPONewsroom_ (via Bloomberg) — Anthropic run-rate passes $65B ahead of its IPO - up sevenfold in seven months · link- The single loudest AI-demand datapoint of the day: a $65B run-rate hit by end of July, shared with investors ahead of the IPO. Direct fuel for the ai-mega-ipo liquidity-regime thesis - the listing everyone is positioning around now has a revenue base to price.
𝕏@KobeissiLetter — Chinese chip industry revenue +22% YoY to a record $245B · link- The cartographer number of the day: domestic Chinese IC revenue nearly doubled since 2020. Context for every export-control debate and for the China-baskets selloff the desk has been tracking without a driver - the domestic substitution engine is not slowing.
𝕏@SemiAnalysis_ — SemiAnalysis on Google's TPU interconnect: 2D torus to 3D torus and what it buys · link- Same-day technical thread on the TPU interconnect lineage - the physical-layer detail behind the custom-silicon vs GPU debate, and context for the optical/ai-infra lane's read on where scale-up networks go next.
𝕏@amitisinvesting — APP channel check: a former AppLovin employee on the ad-model moat $APP $META $GOOGL · link- Qualitative channel check on a consider-board name from a followed account: former-employee color on whether AppLovin's targeting edge survives Meta/Google competition. Use the ping, verify the claims - it is one person's view of a former employer.
𝕏@ParadisLabs — Memory bull consolidation: 2027 DRAM and HBM capacity reportedly sold out $MU $SNDK · link- A tidy consolidation of the memory-supercycle case the week after Sandisk's +35% filed-buyback week: sold-out 2027 capacity claims across all three DRAM makers. Attributed to FundaAI/Digitimes - claims to verify against primary sources, but squarely on the desk's #1 lane.
