1. The Read
The S&P 500 fund slipped 0.22% in the week to Friday, October 2, while the semiconductor fund gained 3.96% and every bond and credit fund closed in capitulation: a 29,000-job September took an October Fed hike off the table, and Treasury yields rose into the close anyway.
Tape: desk summaries, settled October 2 close (Schwab); "the week" runs from the September 25 close.
The week in one read
The index stood still because two markets cancelled out. The Nasdaq-100 fund gained 0.68% and the technology sector fund 1.80%; the equal-weight fund lost 0.65% and the Russell 2000 fund 0.16%. The S&P 500 fund closed 1.25% under its high, 6.8% above its 200-day average on a +15.01% year. Friday itself was broad, with 811 of 1,215 tracked names up and the median stock +0.7%, so the week's weakness sat in specific groups, not everywhere.
The dividing line is interest rates. Anything with a growth engine and a cushion over its 200-day kept working: chips, chip equipment, optics, security software, the cloud funds, oil producers, Japan and emerging markets. Anything that discounts at the 10-year or sells to a squeezed consumer kept falling: bonds, real estate, financials, homebuilders, utilities, staples, metals, Europe. The Momentum Board grew to 492 names from 439 a week earlier, and its parabolic tier to 45 from 36. At the same time the oversold list filled with McDonald's, Lowe's, Home Depot, PepsiCo, Nike and the defense primes. Money is concentrating, not leaving.
The week's dated events: Carnival's September 29 beat ($1.43 a share against $1.35, per its earnings record) and a 15.78% week for the cruise line; Micron's record September 30 report; Nike's and Accenture's October 1 reports; and Friday's payrolls, Tesla deliveries beat, G7 reserve release and the Seagate and Western Digital drop.
Rates: soft jobs, higher yields
Payrolls rose 29,000 in September against 84,000 expected, and unemployment rose to 4.2% (CNBC). Bloomberg said the figure missed every estimate in its survey and followed downward revisions to the prior two months. Traders cut the odds of an October hike to little (CNBC), the dollar had its worst day in a month (Bloomberg) and emerging-market currencies hit a session high (Bloomberg). Treasury yields still climbed into the close for a weekly gain (Bloomberg; CNBC). The 10-year closed October 1 at 5.24% (FRED) after touching its highest level in 24 years that day (CNBC). Bloomberg's Friday framing was Wall Street trying to live with 5% yields as cracks grow across strategies. Europe is the other leg: UK, Greek and Italian yields rose with France at the center after a failed budget (Semafor), and the euro fund closed at RSI 22.4.
The bond funds are capitulation readings, not turns. The long-bond fund sits at RSI 23.5, 9.3% under its 200-day on a −13.48% year; the investment-grade fund at 22.7, high yield at 17.7, the lowest reading on the board. None reclaimed its 20-day; the long-bond fund's is $80.30 against a $77.48 close. Real estate (RSI 21.7) is the weakest sector. Financials closed 0.4% under their 200-day on a flat year, the last rate-sensitive group that had been holding.
Credit has not followed prices down. The high-yield spread was 3.24% on October 1 (FRED), under the 3.50 level that would mark stress, and the VIX closed Friday at 15.31. That pairing says repricing, not a credit event. The equal-weight fund is the line for the average stock: $209.73, 1.9% above its 200-day ($205.74) and under its 20-day ($212.47). A close above the 20-day is the all-clear; a close under the 200-day breaks the average stock's trend.
The build-out: equipment, optics, security
Chip equipment and test closed 13 for 13 green for a second straight Friday, and every name carries positive one-year alpha. Axcelis rose 20.03% on the week to RSI 73.6, FormFactor sits at 72.8, Teradyne rose 8% Friday and Camtek and MKS reclaimed their 200-day lines. Applied Materials, Lam Research and KLA are still 20% to 33% under their highs on years of +81.59% to +141.53%, so this is a deep pullback recovering inside intact trends. No source on file explains the run; news pulled October 3 for Applied, Lam and MKS holds nothing on the move. Ten of the 13 are more than 12% above their 20-day averages, which argues for waiting on flags, not adding here.
Optics closed 25 of 28 green, and the market is paying for the laser layer. Lumentum rose 15.27% on the week to sit 0.57% under its 52-week high on a +539.42% year; Coherent rose 13.93% but is 23.4% under its high, Ciena sits on its 200-day, and Applied Optoelectronics is 50.53% under its high. The supporting stories are secondhand. On October 1, several accounts relayed a Morgan Stanley read that Washington is discussing curbs on Chinese 3.2T transceivers, with the main effect in laser pricing. On Friday a photonics account transcribed Lumentum's CEO saying 2027 laser supply covers 30% of demand, with balance not before 2029–2030. Neither is a filing. Lumentum's CFO sold about $25.7 million of stock on October 1 (Form 4). MaxLinear jumped 14.99% Friday to sit 97.6% above its 200-day with no cause in its news. The entry for the leader is a flag that holds Lumentum's 20-day ($941.73) while RSI cools under 60; a close under the 50-day ($879.03) ends it.
Security software reversed last Friday's selloff, 11 for 11 up on the week and all above their 200-day. BlackBerry rose 13.28%, SentinelOne 11.97%, Okta 8.35%, Palo Alto 7.61%, CrowdStrike 7.10%; the four cloud funds all rose too. News pulled October 3 for seven of the names holds nothing on the move, so the cause is unknown in both directions. Palo Alto is 1.53% under its high; its September 29 deep dive buys the pullback to $362–$378, not the base top. MongoDB is the software outlier, −12.79% on the week and still 4.4% above its 200-day, cause unknown.
The power stack splits. Data-center power semiconductors led Friday's lane ranking at +4.6% median with 11 of 12 up. Bloom Energy is 39.4% above its 200-day; Constellation (−27.97% on the year) and Vistra (−30.91%) remain under theirs.
Storage, memory and the prints
Seagate and Western Digital each fell about 10% Friday on 3.6 times normal volume, on worry that Toshiba will raise output of a key AI storage product (MarketWatch). That is the storage case's own failure condition, competitor supply, priced as a fear. No filing, guidance or price concession has verified it. Both keep intact long trends (+233.28% and +216.39% on the year), but Western Digital's cushion over its 200-day is down to 3.8% ($400.02); Seagate's is 30.5%. Western Digital is scheduled to report October 29, per Zacks. A second cost question sits in the feeds: SemiAnalysis says ruthenium, a hard-drive input, rose from about $560 an ounce in early 2025 to dealer quotes near $1,950 in September.
Micron delivered and did not break out. Fiscal fourth-quarter revenue was $54.23 billion and the December-quarter guide $61.5 billion (Micron, September 30), with management expecting supply to stay short through 2028. The stock fell 2.05% Friday and 0.68% on the week and sits below the $1,108.72 pivot its print note set as the entry. It is 57.7% above its 200-day: intact, extended, waiting.
Nike's quarter landed on a broken chart. Revenue was $11.2 billion, down 4%, with earnings of $0.48 a share against $0.44 expected (Nike; earnings record). The stock fell 3.64% Friday to RSI 28.2, 30.5% under its 200-day on a −54.58% year. Accenture is the odd one: CNBC reported the shares surging October 1 after a fourth-quarter beat, then it fell 6.31% Friday with no dated cause on file and still finished +12.94% on the week. Tesla rose 4.65% Friday on deliveries that beat expectations (MarketWatch), but it is 5.7% under its 200-day ($393.18) on a −15.00% year.
The broken half: consumer, defense, metals
The oversold list is damage, not discount. Every strict bargain hit (McDonald's RSI 23.8, Lowe's 25.4, PepsiCo 25.5, Home Depot 25.8, Nike 28.2, Trade Desk 29.6) is under its 200-day on a negative year. Five of the six fell roughly 9.5% to 11.5% over 30 days, which reads as a shared headwind; no source names it. Thirteen of 15 defensive names sit below both their 20-day and 200-day averages. Target is the one consumer name with a durable trend (+74.28% on the year).
The defense primes fell into capitulation during a week of escalation. The US is sending a third carrier group and thousands more troops to the Middle East (CNBC; Semafor), and Treasury added Iran sanctions (CNBC). General Dynamics closed at RSI 21.0, RTX at 23.9 and Northrop at 24.9. RTX is 5.2% under its 200-day, and Northrop's year is −20.99%. Eleven of 12 defense contractors are under their 200-day; the cause of the group's weakness is unknown. The primes report from October 20 (scheduled).
All five metals funds now sit under their 200-day lines, the gold miners crossing under this week. Gold is 8.7% under its 200-day ($416.16) and silver 17%; the dollar fund closed at RSI 72.6. Friday's dollar drop did not lift them. A gold reclaim of the 200-day is the first condition for any metals entry.
Biotech and healthcare: extended leaders, a soft base
The top of biotech is a genomics squeeze; the base is drifting. GRAIL closed at RSI 82.0, 94.7% above its 200-day after a 77.83% month, and Illumina sits 2.54% under its high at RSI 70.4. Kodiak Sciences rose 191.96% on the week; its news, last pulled September 28, had it rising ahead of a Phase 3 readout that is not on file. Iovance's week has a source: it raised its 2026 revenue guide to $410–$420 million from $350–$370 million (Yahoo Finance; Benzinga, September 29). Below, Nektar fell 23.62% on the week to RSI 22.0, and Johnson & Johnson lost 5.6% but holds 5.9% above its 200-day on a +37.67% year, a pullback to study. The biotech fund is 11.2% above its 200-day on a +50.53% year: intact, soft on the month, leaders not entries.
The calls in play
Three watch calls cleared their price lines Friday without confirming. TSMC closed at $472.78, above its $461.47 pivot, on average volume with RSI 71.5; the confirmation is a hold of that level on above-average volume into its October 15 report (scheduled). SpaceX rose 7.35% to $158.96, over its $156.87 range high, with lock-up releases scheduled for October 9 and October 24; a close under the $142.58 shelf ends the setup. MKS reclaimed its 200-day by 2.6% at RSI 58; a weekly close that holds is the test. No dated cause covers any of the three moves.
The week's deep dives set retests, not chases. NVIDIA's dive buys $237–$245 on a break of $236.54 with a $220 stop; it closed at $233.95, the laggard of the chip leaders at +23.86% on the year. AMD's dive buys the $545–$560 retest; it closed at $633.91. Eli Lilly's band is $1,160–$1,197 with a $1,110 stop; it closed at $1,142.85, under the band and above the stop, with its report scheduled for October 29.
Oil, the war and Europe
Oil is an intact trend having a flat week. The oil fund fell 1.77% Friday and 0.65% on the week, but it is up 106% on the year and 28% above its 200-day. The G7 and partners agreed to release up to 100 million barrels of diesel and crude over four months (CNBC; Bloomberg). CNBC's headline also carried a report that the Saudis plan an attack on the Houthis, and Semafor reported the EU bracing for a diesel shortage as major refiners ban exports. Refiners Valero and HF Sinclair hold 56.1% and 59.4% above their 200-days, and the tanker freight fund is up 6,171% on the year at its high. The war pays through fuel and freight on this tape, not through gold or defense. The dated test for whether it reaches household food prices is the September CPI on October 14 (scheduled).
Neoclouds and crypto
Nebius held its breakout; the rest of the lane faded. Nebius rose 4.53% Friday and 2.31% on the week to $242.81, 44.8% above its 200-day on a +92.91% year and well above its $219.70 shelf. CoreWeave rose 2.32% to $89.62, 2.9% under its 200-day ($92.28), with its $85.64 shelf beneath. Cipher fell 11.39% on the week, Hut 8 7.43% and IREN 5.37%. Cerebras lost 19.5% to a post-IPO low on Nvidia pressure and a lockup expiry (CNBC). SemiAnalysis's ClusterMAX kept CoreWeave and Nebius as its Platinum GPU clouds while Google rose from Bronze to Gold.
Bitcoin is flat and its edges are selling. It closed its latest bar at $84,455.48, +0.06% on the week, 18.3% above its 200-day and −30.93% on the year. Riot fell 14.22%, Marathon 10.52% and Dogecoin 10.00%; the miners sit 1.3% to 2.4% above their 200-day lines. Bitcoin's support shelf is $79,138.49.
Watch: the bond funds' 20-day averages (long bond $80.30) and the 10-year after its 5.24% October 1 close; the equal-weight fund's $212.47 20-day and $205.74 200-day; Western Digital's $400.02 200-day; NVIDIA's $236.54 pivot; Micron's $1,108.72 pivot; Lumentum's $941.73 20-day; Delta's report October 8–9 and the SpaceX lock-up release October 9 (both scheduled); the September CPI October 14; TSMC October 15 holding $461.47; the defense primes from October 20.

3. Three Things
- A 29,000-job September did not break the bond rout: October hike odds collapsed (CNBC) and the dollar had its worst day in a month (Bloomberg), yet Treasury yields climbed into Friday's close and all five bond and credit funds closed below RSI 25, high yield lowest at 17.7.
- The AI hardware build-out kept extending as whole groups: semiconductor equipment closed 13 for 13 green for a second straight Friday with every name carrying positive one-year alpha, optics went 25 of 28 with Lumentum 0.57% from its high, and security reversed last Friday's selloff 11 for 11.
- The oversold list is damage, not discount: McDonald's, Lowe's, PepsiCo, Home Depot and Nike sit below RSI 30 under their 200-day averages on negative years, and the defense primes fell into capitulation in a week the US sent a third carrier group to the Middle East (CNBC).
4. The Big Picture — Two Markets Split by the Rate Line
The index barely moved on the week because two markets cancelled out: the build-out complex rallied while everything priced off interest rates kept falling. The S&P 500 fund slipped 0.22% and the equal-weight fund 0.65%; the chip fund rose 3.96% and the technology fund 1.80%.
Act 1 — The Rate Line Holds
The 10-year Treasury closed at 5.24% on October 1 (FRED) after touching its highest level in 24 years that day (CNBC). Friday's payrolls print, 29,000 against 84,000 expected with unemployment at 4.2% (CNBC), took an October hike largely off the table (CNBC) and knocked the dollar (Bloomberg), but yields still rose into the close for a weekly gain (Bloomberg; CNBC). The long-bond fund sits at RSI 23.5, 9.3% under its 200-day; the investment-grade fund at 22.7 and high yield at 17.7. Real estate (RSI 21.7) is the weakest sector, and financials closed 0.4% under their 200-day on a flat year (+0.26%), the last rate-sensitive group that had been holding. Europe added its own leg: UK, Greek and Italian yields rose with France at the center after a failed budget (Semafor, October 2), and the euro fund closed at RSI 22.4. Credit has not broken: the high-yield spread was 3.24% on October 1 (FRED), under the 3.50 level that would mark stress, and the VIX closed Friday at 15.31.
Act 2 — The Build-Out Runs as a Block
Friday's lane ranking put data-center power semiconductors first (+4.6% at the median, 11 of 12 up), then optics (+4.2%, 25 of 28), equipment and test (+4.1%, 13 of 13), supply-chain traces (12 of 12) and copper (7 of 7). Axcelis rose 20.03% on the week, Lumentum 15.27%, Coherent 13.93%, Teradyne 12.72%. The only story on file for optics is secondhand: on October 1 several accounts relayed a Morgan Stanley read that Washington is discussing curbs on Chinese 3.2T transceivers, and on Friday a photonics account transcribed Lumentum's CEO saying the company can supply only 30% of 2027 laser demand. Neither is a filing. The equipment run has no sourced cause at all. The equipment leaders are deep pullbacks recovering inside multi-year trends (Applied Materials 26.99% under its high on a +141.53% year), so the read is flags to come, not entries now.
Act 3 — The Broken Half
Eleven of twelve defense names sit under their 200-day; General Dynamics (RSI 21.0), RTX (23.9) and Northrop (24.9) are in capitulation in a week of carrier deployments and Iran sanctions (CNBC). The consumer cluster is worse on the long horizon: Lowe's is 21.9% under its 200-day on a −26.90% year, McDonald's 20.0% on −22.67%. Nike's October 1 report (revenue $11.2 billion, down 4%, per Nike; earnings of $0.48 a share against $0.44 expected, per its earnings record) landed on a chart already 30.5% under its 200-day. Seagate and Western Digital each fell about 10% Friday on worry that Toshiba will raise output of a key AI storage product (MarketWatch): the nearline storage case's own failure condition, competitor supply, is now priced as a fear.

As of 2026-10-02 settled close.
NVIDIA closed at $233.95, 1.65% under its 52-week high and just under the $236.54 base pivot its September 28 deep dive named; that dive's call is to buy $237–$245 on the break with a $220 stop. It is the laggard of the leaders: up 23.86% on the year against the chip fund's 86.44%, which leaves room if the pivot gives.
Micron delivered the print the market wanted on September 30 (fiscal fourth-quarter revenue $54.23 billion; December-quarter guide $61.5 billion, per Micron) and has not broken out: Friday's 2.05% drop left it below the $1,108.72 pivot the print note set as the entry. Sandisk fell 3.79% Friday and 3.25% on the week, still 50.1% above its 200-day; a MarketBeat page credits sector sentiment and profit-taking, with no dated event.
Microsoft at $517.53 sits 19.6% above its 200-day with RSI 62.6 and a flat year (+0.35%); the pivot is $522.85. Tesla rose 4.65% Friday after third-quarter deliveries beat Wall Street's expectations (MarketWatch), but it is still 5.7% under its 200-day ($393.18) on a −15.00% year; the 200-day is the line.
The quantum names are the broken corner of the list. Rigetti, D-Wave and Quantum Computing Inc. are 11% to 24% under their 200-day averages with years of −46% to −59%; Xanadu closed at RSI 13.9 after a −56.74% month, 89.87% under its high. Xanadu's news, pulled October 3, carries nothing newer than September 21, stock-events has no entry and the October 1–2 captures do not name it, so the slide is cause unknown. These are speculative businesses; no setup exists until a base forms.
Argenx is the one focus name pulling back into the high 30s (RSI 35.8) while 8.0% above its 200-day on a +16.12% year: a pullback in an intact trend, with the $910.10 support shelf beneath.

As of 2026-10-02; Bitcoin bar 2026-10-03.
The scorecard splits along the same line as the Big Picture. Everything with a growth engine and a 200-day cushion (technology, semis, software funds, energy producers, emerging markets) is intact; everything that discounts at the 10-year (housing, real estate, utilities, bonds, metals) or sells to a squeezed consumer is under its 200-day. Oil services and agriculture are the two sitting on the line, and both depend on the war's next turn more than on rates.

The desk's curated ETF read — one fund per lane it tracks, not every fund on the watchlists — grouped by what the fund is exposed to, and where each closed on the issue date. The big number and the tile's shade are that session's move (1D); 7D and 30D are the trailing windows behind it, and RSI is the 14-day reading (above 70 is stretched, below 30 washed out). Shades near flat stay gray — a ±0.25% day is not a color.

7. Market Vibe
Bifurcated, and the split got cleaner, not wider. The index ended the week 1.25% under its high with the S&P 500 fund down 0.22%, but 811 of 1,215 tracked names rose on Friday and the median stock gained 0.7%, so the last session was broad. Underneath, the average stock is soft: the equal-weight fund (RSI 37.1) and small caps (39.6) sit below their 20-day averages and only 1.9% above their 200-day lines. The Momentum Board grew to 492 names from 439 a week earlier, with the parabolic tier at 45 from 36, while the oversold list filled with consumer staples, home improvement and defense. Money is concentrating, not leaving.
What's weird is that soft labor data and rising yields arrived on the same day. A miss that big normally rallies bonds. Instead the dollar fell (Bloomberg), emerging-market currencies hit session highs (Bloomberg), and yields still climbed. Bloomberg's Friday framing was Wall Street trying to live with 5% yields as cracks grow across strategies. The long end is trading something other than the Fed's next move, and Europe's debt scare is the dated candidate on file, not a confirmed one.
The consumer split runs through travel. Carnival rose 15.78% on the week after a September 29 beat ($1.43 a share against $1.35, per its earnings record), and Royal Caribbean rose 14.44% with no recorded cause; both remain under their 200-day averages on negative years, while Booking sits at RSI 30.4.
The war is visible in oil and freight, not in defense or gold. The oil fund is up 106% on the year and 28% above its 200-day; the tanker freight fund is 311.6% above its 200-day. The G7 agreed to release up to 100 million barrels of diesel and crude over four months (CNBC, Bloomberg) and the EU braced for a diesel shortage as major refiners ban exports (Semafor). Yet primes and gold sit in drawdowns. Hormuz is an energy-logistics story on this tape, not a risk-off one.

6b. Expanded Dispatches
Semiconductor Equipment. All 13 names closed green for a second straight Friday and every one carries positive one-year alpha for the third straight week. Axcelis (RSI 73.6) and FormFactor (72.8) are overbought; Camtek and MKS reclaimed their 200-day lines, leaving only Amkor (2.2% under) below. The day's leaders (Axcelis +8.09%, Teradyne +8%, Camtek +7.41%) have no sourced cause, and ten of the 13 are more than 12% above their 20-day averages. Long-horizon trends as good as they get, short-term readings stretched: patience with new money, not selling.
Optical Supply Chain. Twenty-five of 28 closed green and names under their 200-day fell to six from nine. MaxLinear jumped 14.99% to sit 97.6% above its 200-day on a +553.89% year; its news shows only an October 1 call-date notice and a September 28 product launch. The layer at its high is the laser maker (Lumentum, 0.57% off); the module and systems names (Coherent 23.4% off, Ciena 38.61%, Applied Optoelectronics 50.53%) are not paying the shortage premium yet.
Defense Contractors. Eleven of twelve sit under their 200-day and General Dynamics carries the lowest RSI at 21.0, with RTX and Northrop under 25. The week brought a third carrier group (CNBC), new Iran sanctions (CNBC) and a Boeing Navy fighter award (CNBC, September 30); none lifted the group. RTX is 5.2% under its 200-day and Northrop's year is −20.99%. The primes report starting October 20 (scheduled). TTM Technologies, a circuit-board supplier that trades with AI hardware, is the only name above its line.
Cybersecurity. Eleven of 11 rose on the week and all sit above their 200-day: BlackBerry +13.28%, SentinelOne +11.97%, Okta +8.35%, Palo Alto +7.61%, CrowdStrike +7.10%. Last Friday the same group fell as one. News pulled October 3 for seven names carries nothing on the move, so the cause is unknown both ways. Zscaler (−36.08% on the year) is the one unrepaired trend. Palo Alto closed 1.53% under its high. In software outside security, MongoDB fell 12.79% on the week, still 4.4% above its 200-day; its news, pulled October 3, holds nothing on the move.
Bargain Bin. All six strict hits (McDonald's, Lowe's, PepsiCo, Home Depot, Nike, Trade Desk) are below their 200-day on negative years. Five of the six fell roughly 9.5% to 11.5% over 30 days, which reads as a shared headwind; no source names it. The quality-inside-trend dips (Salesforce, ServiceNow, Workday, Qualcomm, SAP) sit in the 47–52 RSI range, not near oversold. Target (+74.28% on the year) is the one consumer name with a durable trend.
9. The Front Page
7a. Perspective Dispatches
AI optics: bandwidth becomes supplier earnings. Lumentum rose 15.27% on the week to sit 0.57% under its high; Coherent rose 13.93% and Ciena closed exactly on its 200-day. The new dated input is Lumentum's CEO, as transcribed by a photonics account, saying 2027 laser supply covers 30% of demand with balance not before 2029–2030. The campaign's two-report test opens with Fabrinet's report around November 2 (provider estimate).
AI memory: pricing discipline through the supply ramp. Micron beat its own forecast by $4.2 billion and guided the December quarter to $61.5 billion (Micron, September 30), then slipped 2.05% Friday below its $1,108.72 pivot. The campaign's named tripwire is Micron's fiscal Q1 margin against about 86.25%; nothing tripped it this week.
Nearline storage: density and supplier discipline. Seagate (−10.21%) and Western Digital (−10.22%) fell Friday on worry Toshiba will raise output of a key AI storage product (MarketWatch). That is the case's own failure condition, competitor unit supply, priced as a fear, not yet verified in a filing or a price concession. Western Digital's 200-day cushion is down to 3.8% ($400.02); Seagate's is 30.5%. Western Digital is scheduled to report October 29, per Zacks.
AI power: generation and grid equipment. GE Vernova rose 3.24% on the week and Bloom Energy holds 39.4% above its 200-day, while Constellation (−27.97% on the year) and Vistra (−30.91%) stay under theirs. A Frontier Map post put the longest lead time inside a large power transformer at more than 130 weeks for the bushing, with the first US-made 765 kV units due in early 2028; that sets a floor under how fast interconnection can loosen. GE Vernova's third-quarter report is the campaign's next order-conversion test.
AI power: rack and chip conversion. Data-center power semiconductors led Friday's lane ranking at +4.6% median with 11 of 12 up, and Vicor sits 42.7% above its 200-day after a +70.1% month. No named design win or design-out landed this week; the campaign review is dated October 6.
Energy shock to hardship: the Saudi phase of the Iran war. The G7 agreed to release up to 100 million barrels of diesel and crude over four months (CNBC, Bloomberg) and the EU braced for a diesel shortage (Semafor). CNBC's headline also carried a report that the Saudis plan an attack on the Houthis. The oil fund fell 1.77% Friday and 0.65% on the week but is up 106% on the year; refiners Valero and HF Sinclair hold 56.1% and 59.4% above their 200-days. The dated test is the September CPI on October 14 (scheduled): food at home turning positive would complete the food link.
Energy disruption: physical flows and exporter economics. Exxon and Chevron sit about 10% above their 200-days on +47.37% and +34.77% years. The EIA's October 1 outlook keeps Middle East output below pre-conflict averages until the second quarter of 2027 because of export limits. The case still needs company-level realized-price proof.
AI spending: the supplier earnings reversal case. Nothing this week supports it: suppliers kept rallying and Micron guided higher. The one cost signal on file is Cerebras hitting a post-IPO low, down 20% on the week on Nvidia pressure and a lockup expiry (CNBC). Review is set for the October reporting cycle, starting with Microsoft on October 27 (scheduled).
Drone defense: contracts become profitable deliveries. AeroVironment's price state slid from downtrend to collapse and it sits 30% under its 200-day; Kratos and Red Cat are on −54.68% and −44.44% years. A Gaurab Chakrabarti thread, built on a September 26 New York Times report, traces Patriot replenishment through a handful of US ball-screw grinders near capacity. No funded award moved the group.
Nuclear fuel: contracting reaches enrichment and supply. Centrus is down more than 60% on the year and 30% under its 200-day; uranium funds are broken on every window, and the nuclear-fuel lane is among the three biggest 30-day outflows on the cross-sector rotation read. No contract or award landed.
Biotech funding: conversion into tools and CRO orders. Thermo Fisher holds 20.7% above its 200-day; the biotech fund is 11.2% above on a +50.53% year but soft on the month. Iovance raised its 2026 revenue guide to $410–$420 million from $350–$370 million (Yahoo Finance, Benzinga, September 29), a commercial-stage data point; tools orders are the evidence the case still lacks.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BWET | $873 | 311.6% | 411.87% | Tanker freight | The war's ton-mile shock, priced as a futures fund at its high |
| MXL | $105.93 | 97.6% | 13.76% | Optical DSP | Biggest single-day move in optics two Fridays running, no cause |
| FORM | $149.15 | 37.4% | 20.68% | Chip test | Moved up into uptrend Friday; overbought with the equipment book |
| KOD | $94.45 | 165.1% | 145.07% | Biotech readout | Nearly tripled on the week ahead of, or on, a Phase 3 readout not on file |
| GRAL | $143.26 | 94.7% | 107.29% | Cancer screening | RSI 82 and parabolic; the genomics squeeze's leader |
As of 2026-10-02.
The board's center of gravity is semiconductors and their supply chain (the equipment, test, optics and power-semiconductor names fill the parabolic and 40–60% tiers), with a second, unrelated cluster in genomics and diagnostics (GRAIL, 10x Genomics, Twist, CareDx, Natera). The third cluster is war logistics: tanker freight, product tankers (DHT, International Seaways, Frontline) and refiners. GRAIL is up 77.83% in a month. Elsewhere in biotech, Nektar fell 23.62% on the week to RSI 22.0, and Johnson & Johnson lost 5.6% while holding 5.9% above its 200-day on a +37.67% year. Kodiak's news was last pulled September 28, when GuruFocus reported shares rising ahead of DAYBREAK Phase 3 topline results; the result itself is not on file.
7c. Deep Dive Spotlight
No new company deep dive is dated October 2. The week's published dives carry the levels the tape is now testing:
- Micron (September 30 print note). "Micron is in the strongest stretch in its history, and the September 30 report extended it." Management expects supply to stay short through calendar 2028. Wait, high conviction: buy a settled close above the $1,108.72 pivot, stop $959.51. Friday closed below the pivot.
- NVIDIA (September 28). The $150 billion buyback increase "makes customer collections more important than the headline size." Wait, medium conviction: entry $237–$245 on the pivot break, stop $220, first target $270. Friday closed just under the band.
- Palo Alto Networks (September 29). Doing well on the tape and in cash flow, not in GAAP profit, with acquisitions doubling reported growth. Wait for the pullback, medium conviction: entry $362–$378, stop $345, first target $425. It closed at $403.24 after a 7.61% week.
Plus AMD (buy the $545–$560 retest; it closed at $633.91), Eli Lilly (buy $1,160–$1,197 with a $1,110 stop; it closed at $1,142.85, under the band and above the stop, with its report scheduled for October 29) and the September 28 refresh of 53 tracked company profiles.

Rates Without Relief
The 10-year's climate trigger (at or above 5.00%) has been firing since September 16, and the October 1 FRED close was 5.24%. The 10-year minus 2-year curve is +0.45 points and effective fed funds 3.88%. Friday's soft payrolls moved the front end (October hike odds fell, CNBC) but not the long end (yields climbed, Bloomberg). The bond funds are capitulation readings, not turns: none has reclaimed its 20-day (the long-bond fund's sits at $80.30 against a $77.48 close). The conflict: credit spreads (3.24%) and the VIX (15.31) say this is a rate repricing, not a credit event. A high-yield spread at 3.50 or a VIX at 20 would change that.
Gold / Commodities
All five metals funds now sit under their 200-day lines; the gold miners crossed under this week. Gold is 8.7% under its 200-day ($416.16) and 25.42% under its high; silver is 17% under. The dollar fund closed at RSI 72.6 after its best month since June (Bloomberg, September 30), and Friday's dollar drop (Bloomberg) did not lift metals. Copper is the counter-signal: the copper lane closed 7 of 7 up Friday and Teck holds an intact trend.
Insider Buying
The insider buying list has not changed in five weeks (Tesla, CRISPR, Asana, Intel, TSMC, with identical dollar figures), so it needs a filing check before anyone leans on it. Selling is heaviest in the strongest trends (Amazon, Nvidia, Lilly, Palantir, Broadcom), which is routine. No name in the universe is below RSI 30, so there is no oversold-plus-buying signal for a tenth straight week. Lumentum's CFO sold 24,542 shares, about $25.7 million, on October 1 (Form 4 filed October 2).
Crypto
Bitcoin closed its latest bar at $84,455.48, +0.06% on the week and 18.3% above its 200-day, but −30.93% on the year. The edges sold: Riot −14.22%, Marathon −10.52%, CleanSpark −8.67% on the week, Dogecoin −10.00%. Miners' cushions over their 200-day are down to 1.3–2.4%. Bitcoin's support shelf is $79,138.49 and its 50-day $78,122.06. The cross-sector rotation read lists crypto among fading leaders. Bitcoin's news was last pulled September 19, so no cause is asserted.
Regime Transitions
Friday's price-state changes against Thursday number 34: 28 confirmed flips, five low-information flips in already-broken names and one new entry. Pullback→uptrend led with seven (FormFactor, Cohu, Elastic, Docusign, JFrog and others), against four uptrend→pullback (Bancolombia, Disney among them) and four uptrend→basing (the agriculture fund, Schwab's dividend fund, Targa). Galaxy Digital slid from pullback to downtrend, the one neocloud-lane flip. No focus name changed state Friday; Lumentum's move to uptrend came October 1. Across the universe, 240 names are in uptrend, 450 in pullback, 175 basing, 136 in downtrend and 201 in collapse.
The Neocloud Lane
Nebius rose 4.53% Friday and 2.31% on the week to $242.81, 44.8% above its 200-day ($167.74) on a +92.91% year, holding well above its $219.70 shelf. CoreWeave rose 2.32% on the week to $89.62, 2.9% under its 200-day ($92.28), with the $85.64 shelf beneath; it joined the turnaround watch list. Cipher (−11.39%), Hut 8 (−7.43%) and IREN (−5.37%) fell on the week, and Cerebras lost 19.5% to a post-IPO low on Nvidia pressure and a lockup expiry (CNBC). SemiAnalysis's ClusterMAX ratings kept CoreWeave and Nebius as the Platinum providers while Google's GPU cloud rose from Bronze to Gold (SemiAnalysis, October 2). The cross-sector rotation read lists the lane among fading leaders.
Entry Lines Cleared, Not Confirmed
Three watch calls printed through their price lines Friday. TSMC closed at $472.78, above the $461.47 pivot, on 0.99 times normal volume with RSI 71.5; the call wants a volume-supported hold into the October 15 report (scheduled). SpaceX rose 7.35% to $158.96, over the $156.87 range high, with lock-up releases scheduled for October 9 and October 24; a close under the $142.58 support shelf ends the setup. MKS closed 2.6% above its 200-day with RSI 58, meeting its stated reclaim condition, but sits only 1.2% above its 50-day after a 7.03% week. SpaceX's news was last pulled September 26 and TSMC's and MKS's on October 3; no dated cause covers any of the three moves.

11. The Wild & Whacky
- A tanker-freight fund is up 6,171% on the year. The Breakwave tanker fund closed 311.6% above its 200-day and 0.41% under its high after a 92.29% month. Its news was last pulled September 28 and holds only quote pages; the war's freight leg is context, not a receipt.
- Kodiak Sciences nearly tripled in a week. Up 191.96% over seven days to RSI 85.3. GuruFocus had it rising ahead of DAYBREAK Phase 3 topline results on September 28; the readout itself is not on file.
- Two sub-$2 proteomics names doubled. Nautilus rose 104.17% on the week and Quantum-Si 86.75%; Nautilus posted $0.2 million of quarterly revenue (StockTitan) and Quantum-Si guided to about $1.0 million for the year (Simply Wall St). Business-quality veto: pre-revenue lottery tickets.
- Seagate and Western Digital fell by the same amount on the same day. −10.21% and −10.22%, both on 3.6 times normal volume, on one MarketWatch-reported Toshiba worry. A ruthenium input SemiAnalysis says rose from about $560 an ounce to near $1,950 adds a cost question nobody priced.
- Accenture rallied on its beat, then gave a chunk back. CNBC reported the shares surging October 1 after a fourth-quarter beat (revenue $18.7 billion, up 7% in local currency, per MarketBeat); Friday it fell 6.31% with no dated cause on file and still closed +12.94% on the week.
- The calmest volatility reading in weeks sits beside the most oversold credit reading. VIX 15.31 with the high-yield fund at RSI 17.7.
- Defense primes hit capitulation in a week of escalation. A third carrier group, thousands more troops (Semafor) and new sanctions, and General Dynamics closed at RSI 21.0.
- MaxLinear is up 553.89% on the year and 97.6% above its 200-day after a 14.99% Friday with nothing in its news but a call-date notice.
12. Paper Trade Report Card
Eleven paper books held sessions on Friday's close and none bought on the day. The exit pass checked 120 paper positions and sold nothing on a stop; its trim advisories were all held under written rules — the aggressive book kept TTM Technologies as the runner 0.7% from its +20% target and NVIDIA because a closed campaign is not a broken thesis, and the signal tracker held six of its own. Eight books passed on entries: the leveraged book because no current research backs owning the Nasdaq-100 its entry box nominated, the momentum book because the market gate stayed shut with the S&P 500 fund under its base pivot, the dip and value books because nothing oversold had both reclaimed its 20-day and carried a written case, the insider probe because its one insider nominee was an affiliate buying its own parent, the short book because none of sixteen extended names closed under its 10-day, the signal tracker because none of 25 new oversold rows had a thesis on file, and the mention book because its Friday rule is unresolved. Three orders are queued for Monday's noon fill: the swing book's photonics basket (LAZR) on a 20-day breakout at 2.2x volume, the buffer book's October series at issue, and the quality book's exit from Schlumberger, which closed below the 200-day line written as its invalidation. The passive SPY/QQQ control made its monthly buys, and the rules-based autotrade book held all positions. The aggressive book leads at +10.80% since inception, still behind the S&P 500 fund's +16.21% over the same window.

13. What I'd Tell a Friend
The market is paying for the AI hardware build-out and charging for anything that discounts at 5%. Don't fight either side, and don't buy the leaders here: they are extended on the short windows, and the right entries are flags and retests. The oversold list is not a shopping list; nearly all of it is under the 200-day on negative years.
- NVIDIA ($233.95): a settled close above $236.54 on volume, entry $237–$245, stop $220. The laggard of the chip leaders, 1.65% from its high.
- TSMC ($472.78): already through its $461.47 pivot on average volume (0.99 times normal) with RSI 71.5. Hold-and-watch, not chase: the trigger is a close that holds $461.47 on above-average volume into the October 15 report (scheduled).
- Lumentum ($1,085.42): a flag that holds its 20-day ($941.73) while RSI cools under 60, then a new high; out on a close under the 50-day ($879.03).
- Palo Alto ($403.24): the pullback to $362–$378, stop $345. Security just went 11 for 11; let it come in.
- Equal-weight S&P 500 fund ($209.73): the breadth tell. A close back above the 20-day ($212.47) is the all-clear for the average stock; a close under the 200-day ($205.74) breaks its trend.
Today: nothing new to buy at Friday's prices; set the levels. Watch next: whether the bond funds reclaim their 20-day averages, the one move that would say the rate line has turned.

A desk call is an authored stance from a published report; entry and invalidation conditions are human-read, and the full ledger lives at /calls.
30d vs SPY is the raw name-vs-SPY move since the call — for trim/sell calls a NEGATIVE number means the call worked (the name fell after it).

𝕏SemiAnalysis (@SemiAnalysis_) — SemiAnalysis — Google's GPU cloud climbs to Gold in ClusterMAX, but CoreWeave and Nebius are still the Platinum names it holds up as the bar $CRWV $NBIS $GOOGL · link- SemiAnalysis's ClusterMAX ratings are the closest thing the GPU rental market has to an independent quality grade, and this round keeps CoreWeave and Nebius in its Platinum tier while Google moved from Bronze to Gold in under two years, per the post.
